Poultry Farming has been one of the most important subsidiary occupation of the farming community in India. It is a remunerative business both in rural and urban areas due to the requirement of small space, low capital investment and quick return throughout the year.
It has a significant role in the eradication of malnutrition and poverty as well as eliminating under-employment among the rural masses. However, due to lack of modern and updated method of poultry farming, the farmers are practicing their own way which is unproductive and not commercially viable. The present programme aims to impart knowledge and skill to make Poultry Farming a viable business. The target group includes: Rural youth, Women, Farmers and Entrepreneurs.
Objectives:
The main objectives of the programme are to:
- Develop and strengthen Human Resource by infusing/imparting knowledge and skill in Poultry Farming through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Mode;
- Create awareness about the opportunities of employment and livelihood in Poultry Sector; and
- Impart basic knowledge and technical proficiency in Poultry Breeding, Housing, Management and Nutrition.
Eligibility: 8th Pass
Medium of Instruction: English, Hindi, Mizo and Telugu
Duration: Minimum 6 months and Maximum 2 years; offered in both January & July cycle of admissions.
Fee Structure: Rs.3,600/- for full programme
