Guidelines to write the IGNOU MDEP 520 Project Proposal/Synopsis

Identifying the Stream

To begin, you must decide which stream you want to execute your project in. The stream identification procedure will aid you in the preparation of your project proposal and, eventually, the IGNOU MADE Project Report.

The Steps of the Research Stream

Step 1: Identifying the Topic

Based on your understanding of the subject, experience in the field, and interest, you should choose a topic (or any other connected to distance learning) to work on for the duration of the project. Discuss the matter with your supervisor or counselor if possible. It is usually best to choose a subject that interests you, since this will aid in your learning and development.

Step 2: Create a Project Proposal

Following the selection of a study topic, you should draft and submit a project proposal of around 500 words to STRIDE for approval. The proposal should include the following components: an introduction to the chosen topic; a statement of objective(s) (e.g., what you expect to achieve with the project); and a hypothesis (if any) on which your study is based.

The research method that will be used to carry out the study, as well as the procedures you intend to use to collect data for the study.

  • If the research requires fieldwork, make sure to include the demographic and sample size recommendations in your proposal. As a result of data analysis, your idea may be validated or amended later. Furthermore, your theory could take the shape of a research question.
  • Limit your research objectives to four or fewer. Given the existing scale of the project and the time available to you, achieving several targets will be difficult.
  • The methodology section should explain how you propose to conduct the study. In addition, the devices and processes you intend to use to collect data.
  • You should not be concerned with the long-term consequences of your project at this time. You must, however, state the project’s purpose in broad terms. Implications and conclusions will be offered more explicitly and concretely at the end of your project work.

Steps of the Training Stream

Step 1: Create the Training Area

Based on your understanding of the institution, your experience in the field, and your interests, you should select a training area (for example, counsellor training, self-learning material development, distance education management, program evaluation, and training of study center staff) to work on for the completion of the IGNOU MDEP 520 project work. Discuss the training area with your supervisor/counselor if possible. Generally, it is preferable to take training that will assist the organization for which you work, since this will produce additional passion.

Step 2: Develop an IGNOU MDEP 520 Project Proposal

After settling on a training topic, develop a training proposal that includes information such as why you chose that specific topic for training. Why do you require training? How would this benefit the institution? What would the attendees gain from the training session?

The following items should be included in the proposal:

a) A summary of the training area

b) A statement of objective(s)- (e.g., what you hope to achieve during the training)

a) Assessment of training needs (preliminary plan)

d) Training design, including the number and duration of sessions, as well as the names of resource personnel (preliminary plan)

e) Training evaluation plan

f) Training impact on your institution

The Steps of the Material Development Stream

Step 1: Determine the sort of educational material that will be created.

Based on your understanding, expertise, and interest in the subject, you should select a medium (audio/video/multi-media/website, etc.) to create a learning material for the completion of the project task. If possible, consult with your supervisor/counselor on the medium and procedure. It is essential that you select a media with which you are entirely comfortable, since this will help you generate good educational materials.

Step 2: Create an IGNOU MDEP 520 Project Proposal

After deciding on the medium (audio, video, multi-media, etc.) for creating the learning materials, you should create a Project Proposal that explains why you chose that medium. The following items should be included in the proposal:

a) A description of the proposed medium (audio, video, multi-media, and so on).

b) A declaration of objective(s) (e.g., what you hope to achieve through the project)

c) The technologies that will be used

d) The framework for instructional design

e) The effect of a particular medium on the learning process of students enrolled in distance education.

IGNOU MADE Project Proposal Submission

Send your project proposal to The Course Coordinator, MDEP-520, STRIDE. You must incorporate any suggestions/comments given by your STRIDE supervisor (if any) into your proposal as soon as you receive them. You may begin working on the project after your STRIDE supervisor has accepted it.

Guidelines to write the IGNOU MADE Project Report Dissertation

Components of the Report (Research Stream)

If you choose the research stream for your project, your report should comprise the following chapters:

An overview of the research’s setting, motivation, and relevance to distance education; the study’s objectives and anticipated conclusion; a review of past research on the subject and its findings, and so on.

The following should be included in the suggested research method: a) Design b) Sample size c) Instruments/techniques d) Data processing and analysis

A succinct summary of the study’s findings and ideas, as well as how the findings may aid in understanding the concept and supporting the practice of distance education in general.

Bibliography/references/appendices: alphabetize any books, journals, periodicals, and other sources used to create the report, as well as any relevant supporting materials such as graphs, photographs, and surveys. When writing the references, make sure to use a consistent style throughout the Project Report.

The following should be included as appendices to the Research Project Report:

  • The title of the study, your enrollment number, your name, and the supervisor’s name should all be included on the cover page.
  • Originality Certificate: The certificate should be certified by the designated supervisor.
  • There should be an index that lists the contents of each chapter, as well as their titles and page numbers.
  • Abbreviations: The Project Report should include a list of abbreviations.
  • Questionnaires are used to collect information.
  • Please include a copy of the approved project proposal. Your report will not be assessed unless it includes an authorized project proposal.

Components of a Project Report (Training Stream)

If you choose the ‘Training’ stream for your project activity, the following chapters should be included in your project report:

Report on Training Needs Assessment (TNA) for the specified training; Design of a training program (including a training schedule, media, tactics, strategies, resource personnel, location, and logistics); Training session evaluation reports for at least five training sessions.

The project report should also include the following appendices:

  • The cover page should include the title of the study, your enrollment number, your name, and the supervisor’s name.
  • The designated supervisor or the Regional Center Director must authenticate the certificate.
  • There should be an index that lists the contents of each chapter, as well as their titles and page numbers.
  • Abbreviations: The Project Report should include a list of abbreviations.
  • Making use of training materials.
  • Please include a copy of the approved project proposal. Your report will not be assessed unless it includes an authorized project proposal.

Components of a Project Report (Material Development Stream)

If you choose the ‘Material Development’ stream, the materials you develop will make up the majority of your Project Report. You may provide the script together with the recorded cassette/CD if you like to create audio/video elements.

The following chapters should be included in the project report for the Material Development stream:

Justify your choice of medium (audio/video/multimedia/website, teleconference, etc.). If you are changing textual resources, you should provide a thorough analysis of the current contents and why you are changing them.

The ability to use the suggested technology/medium; the development of the instructional design; the actions taken during content production; a report on the usability of the technology/medium used; a report on the efficacy of the technology/medium used.

The project report should also include the following appendices:

  • The cover page should include the title of the study, your enrollment number, your name, and the supervisor’s name.
  • Originality Certificate: The certificate should be certified by the designated supervisor.
  • There should be an index that lists the contents of each chapter, as well as their titles and page numbers.
  • Abbreviations: The Project Report should include a list of abbreviations. Resources and technology were used.
  • Please include a copy of the approved project proposal. Your report will not be assessed unless it includes an authorized project proposal.

Length and Format of IGNOU MADE Project Report

The Project Report should be typed in double space on one side of an A4 sheet of paper and should contain between 15000 and 18000 words (approximately 60-70 pages). The pages should be numbered progressively. The length of the report will not contain annexes or bibliographies.

Submission of IGNOU MADE Project Report

Your Project Report may be copied three times. You may keep one copy and send the other two to the Student Evaluation Division (SED). To avoid loose pages, the project should be correctly bound. Although you can submit your Project Proposal and Project Report at any time of year, we encourage that you stick to a time plan to guarantee that your work is finished on time.
