The Problem This Book Was Written For
Semester 3 catches M.Com learners on two fronts at once: it is the heaviest semester by credit and the first that mixes two code families. Four papers, 55 of 72 topics rated three-star, and a term-end paper wanting five finished twenty-mark answers out of the eight or nine printed.
- MCO-07 is where the semester is lost. Learners report sitting it twice without clearing, because capital budgeting, cost of capital and leverage all demand a worked figure and a comment, not a description.

Two sections carry unequal weight. Section E of MCO-03 and of MCO-07 each adds an 18-row master formula table, which IBO-02 and MCO-015 neither have nor need. Section E3 runs five comparison tables in MCO-03 and IBO-02, four in MCO-015 and three in MCO-07 — a spread that mirrors how often each paper actually asks you to distinguish between two things.

The revised IGNOU M.Com third semester carries four courses worth 22 credits, tied with Semester 1 as the heaviest and four ahead of Semester 2. The Common Prospectus labels this semester “Core / Specialization Course”, which is where the IBO code enters. M.Com overall runs to 80 credits four semesters.

Four disclosures, none of them reconciled quietly.
One, the prospectus prints stray spaces inside two of these codes. The IGNOU Common Prospectus for July 2026 writes this semester as MCO-03, MCO-07, IBO- 02 and MCO -015 — a space after the hyphen in one and before it in the other. Sellers meanwhile list the same four books as MCO-3, MCO-7, IBO-2 and MCO-15, and Gyaniversity’s set uses MCO-15 where Shri Chakradhar’s uses MCO-015. Search the padded and unpadded forms both ways; they are the same four papers.
Two, IBO-02 is widely mistitled. Its correct title is International Marketing Management, confirmed in the prospectus and on IGNOU’s own examination papers. Several study-support pages — including our own MCOM assignment page, which we are correcting — have described it as “International Business Operations”. That is the name of the PGDIBO programme, not of this course. If a listing offers you IBO-02 under that title, the seller has not checked.
Three, MCO-015’s own examination header is inconsistent. The June 2024 paper heads it “M. Com. (MCOM)” and titles it “India’s Foreign Trade & Investment” with an ampersand; the June 2025 paper heads it “MASTER OF COMMERCE (MCOM)” and spells the title out in full. The prospectus uses the spelled-out form.
Four, this book’s own front matter. The printed cover reads 2026 Exam Edition while the supplied manuscript is labelled the 2027 M.Com Exam Edition, and the string 2026 appears nowhere inside it. The strapline claims “100+ high-probability Q&A”; the counted figure is exactly 100. The how-to-use ladder says “all six subjects” four times over, carried forward from a six-subject volume — this one covers four. Every number on this page is our own count.
Sorted by what they actually reward, the four fall into three groups, and the book’s revision order follows the groups rather than the code numbers. MCO-03 and MCO-07 form the computational group, though they compute different things: MCO-03 wants a statistic and an inference, MCO-07 wants a valuation and a decision. IBO-02 stands alone as the orientation group, where the marks sit in saying when a strategy applies rather than what it is. MCO-015 is the India-specific group, where a dated statute or a real trade figure outscores a paragraph of description. Carrying IBO-02 essay habits into MCO-07, or MCO-07 terseness into MCO-015, loses marks on material already known.
MCO-03 Help Book — Research Methodology and Statistical Analysis
MCO-03 is a six-credit paper that learners consistently misjudge, revising it as a statistics course when half of it is research theory. Its four blocks run from research meaning, types, design and problem formulation, through sampling, measurement and data collection, into data processing and statistical analysis, and finish on hypothesis testing, advanced techniques and report writing. Thirteen of its 18 rated topics carry three stars, and the top band is split almost evenly between theory and computation: research meaning and types, the research process and problem formulation, research design, hypothesis formulation and testing, sampling methods and sample size, measurement and scaling, primary and secondary data collection, questionnaire construction, editing and coding and tabulation, central tendency and dispersion, correlation and regression, probability distributions, and hypothesis testing with Z, t, chi-square and F. What the book supplies here: an 18-row master formula table, 15 authorities running from C.R. Kothari and Fred Kerlinger through Redman and Mory, Fisher, Pearson, Spearman, Galton and Gosset to Likert 1932, Thurstone, Osgood’s semantic differential, Guttman and Cronbach, plus five comparison tables including probability against non-probability sampling and parametric against non-parametric tests, and 20 definitions. The rule specific to this paper is that a computed statistic without an inference is a half answer: state the formula, tabulate, compute, then say what the result means for the research question. Note that MCO-03 also feeds directly into MCOP-001 later in the programme. MCO-07 Help Book — Financial Management
MCO-07 is the six-credit paper that decides most Semester 3 results, and the one learners most often report re-sitting. Fifteen of its 18 topics are rated three-star — the densest concentration in the whole M.Com series — leaving almost nothing safely skippable. Its blocks move from the nature, objectives and time value of money, through valuation, risk and cost of capital, into investment decisions and capital structure, and close on dividend policy and working capital. The top band covers finance functions, profit against wealth maximisation, the risk-return trade-off, compounding and discounting, risk and return with the CAPM, bond valuation and yield to maturity, equity valuation, cost of capital including WACC, capital budgeting by NPV, IRR, PI and payback, the requisites of a good investment method, capital structure theories with the MM hypothesis, operating and financial leverage, the Walter, Gordon and MM dividend models, payout determinants, and working capital with the operating cycle. What the book supplies: the volume’s second 18-row formula table, running from future and present value through annuities and perpetuities to the CAPM expression and the cost-of-debt, cost-of-equity and cost-of-preference formulas; 15 authorities from Ezra Solomon and Weston and Brigham through Modigliani and Miller 1958 and 1963, Durand, Walter, Gordon, Sharpe, Markowitz 1952, Irving Fisher, Baumol, Miller and Orr, Harris, Myers and Majluf to Jensen and Meckling 1976; three comparison tables covering profit against wealth maximisation, operating against financial leverage, and NPV against IRR. The discipline that recovers marks is arithmetic honesty: write the formula, show the working, state the figure with its unit, then give the decision the figure implies. MCO-07 important questions, MCO-07 study material and MCO-07 notes searches all converge on the same need, and MCO-07 previous year question paper practice repays more here than anywhere else in this semester.
IBO-02 Help Book — International Marketing Management
IBO-02 is the six-credit paper carried over from the PGDIBO family, which is why its papers sit in a shared folder and its listings name three programmes at once. It is the only paper in this semester that never computes. Its four blocks cover international marketing concepts, environment and orientation; research, segmentation, targeting and entry modes; product, packaging, branding and pricing; and channels, logistics, promotion and services marketing. Thirteen topics are rated three-star, headed by the EPRG orientation and the circumstances under which each is employed, the components of the international marketing environment, international marketing concepts and scope, domestic against international marketing, segmentation and targeting, modes of entry, the international marketing research process, the international product life cycle, standardisation against adaptation, packaging and labelling, pricing factors and methods, direct against indirect channels, and international promotion with advertising appeals. What the book supplies: 15 authorities including Howard Perlmutter on EPRG, Raymond Vernon 1966 on the product life cycle, Levitt 1960 and again 1983 on globalisation, Cateora, James Lee on the self-reference criterion, Hofstede, Edward T. Hall, McCarthy, Booms and Bitner, Porter, the Johanson and Vahlne internationalisation model, Ries and Trout, and the WTO with GATS; five comparison tables including standardisation against adaptation and licensing against joint venture. Its papers characteristically end with short notes on any four for four times five, the most reliable twenty marks available. The rule here is conditional: never describe a strategy without stating the market conditions under which a firm would choose it. IBO-02 important questions, IBO-02 notes and IBO-02 solved assignment searches all reduce to that one habit.
MCO-015 Help Book — India’s Foreign Trade and Investment
MCO-015 is the four-credit paper of the semester and the most India-specific in the programme, built from 4 blocks and 17 units on eGyanKosh. Fourteen of its 18 topics are rated three-star: the importance of international trade and its theories, the pattern, trends and composition of India’s foreign trade, its direction, its problems and challenges, foreign trade and economic development, balance of trade against balance of payments, the causes and correction of a BoP deficit, the legal framework, the Foreign Trade Policy and its instruments, export promotion measures and schemes, export promotion institutions, and the sector studies on textiles and garments, gems and jewellery, and agriculture with its WTO implications. What the book supplies: 15 authorities and statutes running from Adam Smith 1776 and David Ricardo 1817 through Heckscher and Ohlin, Leontief’s paradox, Vernon 1966, Krugman, Linder and the Prebisch-Singer thesis to Porter, and then the Indian instruments themselves — the FTDR Act 1992, FEMA 1999, the SEZ Act 2005, the WTO from 1995, EXIM Bank and ECGC; four comparison tables including SEZ against EOU and Advance Authorisation against the EPCG Scheme. Its papers split almost every question into (a) and (b) at 10+10, so read the marks and divide your words accordingly. The habit that scores is specificity: name the scheme, name its year, and give a real sector figure rather than a general statement about growth. Every careful buyer raises this, and across 22 credits the truthful answer does the book no favours. IGNOU’s own MCO-03, MCO-07, IBO-02 and MCO-015 blocks are free, they are the primary source, and the examiner sets from them. If you have not read them, read them — you can download IGNOU study material subject-wise at no cost, and the eGyanKosh access guide explains how to reach a block by course code, which matters more than usual here because IBO-02 is shelved under the international-business family rather than beside the MCO codes.
The two do different work. Six credits of MCO-07 blocks build financial reasoning over a semester; this volume turns that reasoning into a valuation you can complete in thirty-two minutes with the formula already in front of you. Buying the guide in place of the blocks is the costly mistake. Reading the blocks and then meeting MCO-07 without having worked a single capital budgeting problem to time is the more frequent one. Short ignou notes sit between the two and fix neither.

How the Guide Book Maps to the Term-End Examination Pattern
Every paper in this semester is a written descriptive term end examination of three hours carrying maximum marks 100. Real papers held on IGNOU’s own servers ask for five answers at twenty marks each, with parts commonly split 10+10, 12+8, 5+15 or four times five.
Two things about the instruction line matter more here than in any other M.Com semester, and both are verified rather than assumed. First, MCO-03 prints a “Weightage: 70%” line on its December 2025 and June 2025 papers, alongside “Attempt any five questions. All questions carry equal marks.” The June 2025 paper carries that line with a typographic slip in IGNOU’s own printing, rendering it “Weightate”. MCO-03’s weightage 70% line is printed on the paper itself, above the instruction. Second, MCO-07’s instruction line is different in every sitting we examined: December 2021 reads “Attempt any five questions. All questions carry equal marks” with a Weightage line; June 2023 and June 2024 read “Answer any five questions. All questions carry equal marks”; December 2024 numbers its instructions “(i) Answer any five questions. (ii) All questions carry equal marks”; and December 2025 reads simply “Attempt any five questions”, dropping the equal-marks clause altogether. One code, five sittings, five wordings. Read the line printed on your own paper.
The two IBO-family and India-specific papers behave differently again. The December 2025 IBO-02 paper prints eight questions, most worth a flat 20, and closes with short notes on any four at four times five. The December 2025 MCO-015 paper also prints eight, and splits nearly all of them 10+10. A third-party aggregator lists MCO-03 as an 80-mark paper; the actual IGNOU papers for December 2025 and June 2025 both read Maximum Marks 100, so treat aggregator metadata with care.
Three hours across five answers leaves roughly thirty-two minutes each, about 320 words at ordinary handwriting speed. That arithmetic is why the volume carries 20 blueprints rather than 100 finished essays. In MCO-07 and MCO-03 it bites harder, because an abandoned computation costs more time than an unwritten paragraph.
Where the marks actually sit changes from paper to paper. In MCO-03, state the technique, compute, then interpret for the research question. In MCO-07, write the formula, show the working, give the figure with its unit, then state the decision. In IBO-02, name the concept, then say under what market conditions a firm would use it, with one real example. In MCO-015, name the scheme and its year, then give the Indian sector detail the second half of the question is asking for.
One structural point unsettles learners in this semester specifically: IGNOU files all four papers in a folder shared with PGDIBO, and IBO-02 genuinely belongs to that programme as well as to M.Com and MCOMMAFS. Finding your paper beneath a PGDIBO header does not mean you have downloaded the wrong file.
The four assignments run on their own track and decide whether you are permitted to sit at all. Semester 3 assignments follow the same submission window as Semester 1, with an assignment submission date 15 September for a July session. In this semester the order of attack matters more than the hours put in, because 55 of 72 topics are rated three-star and there is very little that can be dropped safely. The volume carries a six-row ladder telling you what to open at 48, 24, 12, 6, 3 and 1 hour remaining, plus a 48-hour plan split into 15 timed blocks, seven on the first day and eight on the second. Both obey one rule: MCO-07 is never left until last, because formula and valuation recall decays fastest and recovers slowest.
Given a full semester, read the official blocks paper by paper and use the guide as a checkpoint. The confusion is understandable, because IBO-02 belongs to PGDIBO as well as to M.Com and MCOMMAFS, and IGNOU files its papers in a shared folder.
One paper, four renderings. The Common Prospectus prints it as MCO -015 with a stray space before the hyphen, and prints IBO-02 as IBO- 02 with a space after it. Gyaniversity’s set uses MCO-15 while Shri Chakradhar’s uses MCO-015, and marketplace listings mix MCO-3, MCO-7 and IBO-2 into the same set. Search the padded and unpadded forms both ways before concluding a paper is missing.
Five answers at twenty marks each in three hours, for a maximum of 100 marks. The December 2025 IBO-02 and MCO-015 papers each print eight questions; parts are commonly split 10+10, 12+8, 5+15 or four times five.
