Quick answer. For each MDE course code in IGNOU’s Master of Arts in Distance Education (MADE), run by STRIDE, ignouproject.com prepares a guess paper: the questions that keep returning in IGNOU’s past papers, with model answers written against the syllabus. IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 sheet places the MDE papers between 2 and 19 December 2026 inside a term-end window of 25 November 2026 to 13 January 2027. Every MDE paper reviewed from June 2022 to December 2025 runs 3 hours with three equally weighted questions and prints the term-end share as 75 per cent. Sets cost ₹49 PDF · ₹100 printed, per subject code, and printed orders carry a one-time ₹100 courier charge. MADE is examined in English only, so sets are in English, and no one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance.
When Do the MDE Papers Fall in December 2026?
The first MADE paper on IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 date sheet is MDE-411 on Wednesday 2 December 2026, and the last regular MDE paper is MDE-419 on Saturday 19 December 2026. Both sit in the evening block of the sheet, 2 PM to 5 PM, inside a term-end window that runs from 25 November 2026 to 13 January 2027 on the tentative sheet IGNOU dated 21 September 2026. For a Year I learner the practical meaning is simple: four papers on four evenings in a row.

Tentative sheet of 21 September 2026; IGNOU revised it in October 2026
IGNOU posted a revised tentative sheet in October 2026. The dates on this page come from the 21 September version, so match every MDE date against the newest PDF on ignou.ac.in and against your hall ticket before you book travel. The December 2026 date sheet explainer tracks the revisions for all programmes, and IGNOU’s two daily exam sittings are set out separately.
The Year I Run: Four Evenings in a Row
| Date | Day | Code | Gap before it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Dec 2026 | Wednesday | MDE-411 | First paper |
| 3 Dec 2026 | Thursday | MDE-412 | Next day |
| 4 Dec 2026 | Friday | MDE-413 | Next day |
| 5 Dec 2026 | Saturday | MDE-414 | Next day |
| 7 Dec 2026 | Monday | MDE-518 and MDE-418 (one paper) | Sunday free |
MDE-411 to MDE-414 fall on consecutive days, so there is no gap evening in which to switch from Instructional Design to Learner Support. Sunday 6 December is the only break before the shared MDE-418/MDE-518 paper on Monday. The exam form for this cycle and its fee are covered on the IGNOU exam fee page.
Year II and Backlog Learners
MDE-415 is on Tuesday 8 December and MDE-416 on Wednesday 9 December, straight after the Year I run. MDE-417 then waits until Friday 18 December and MDE-419 until Saturday 19 December. A learner carrying all five Year I codes plus MDE-415 and MDE-416 therefore faces seven papers in eight days. No two MDE codes share a date, and the bridge course MDE-521 sits alone on Monday 21 December 2026.
Why an MDE Script Carries Three Quarters of Each Course Grade
The term-end examination carries 75 per cent of the final course result and assignments carry the remaining 25 per cent. Every MDE paper reviewed from June 2022 to December 2025 prints a 75 per cent weightage line on page one, and the January and July 2026 assignment booklet for MDE-411 to MDE-518 tells learners that assignments carry 25 per cent of the overall grade for each course. Many IGNOU programmes print 70 and 30 instead, so a MADE learner who plans on a 70 per cent paper underrates the exam.
Each MDE paper has three questions of equal weightage. One question is therefore a third of the paper and a quarter of the final course result. Leaving one question unattempted costs the same as losing the whole assignment.
The same booklet sets the minimums: a D grade in each assignment, a C grade in the term-end examination of each course, and an overall C for the course. Learners converting grades for a job or admission form can use the grade to percentage converter.
MADE Guess Paper, IGNOU’s Past MDE Papers or a Solved Paper: Picking the Right One
A guess paper, in the IGNOU sense, is a set of important and recurring questions for a single course code such as MDE-413, with model answers that a publisher prepares from past papers and the syllabus; sellers also call it important questions, expected questions or a model paper. A previous year question paper is the actual paper IGNOU set in an earlier term-end examination, free on IGNOU’s archive. A solved question paper is that actual paper with a publisher’s model answers.
| Guess paper | Previous year paper | Solved paper | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Recurring themes for one MDE code, with model answers | IGNOU’s own paper from a past session | IGNOU’s past paper with model answers |
| Who makes it | A publisher | IGNOU | A publisher |
| Cost | ₹49 PDF or ₹100 printed per code | Free | Varies |
| Best for | Ranking MDE themes and drilling answer length | Learning IGNOU’s exact wording | Checking how one past paper could be answered |
| Cannot do | Tell you the next paper | Show which themes repeat across years | Cover themes that paper did not ask |
For MDE codes the three work together. Past papers show IGNOU’s phrasing, a guess paper sorts the themes that keep returning, and a solved paper shows one way of answering. The solved IGNOU question papers page covers the third option across programmes.
One set per MDE code. Buy MDE-412 alone, or all five Year I codes; nothing is bundled.
The 1 + 4 + 1 layout. Two long answers and four short ones, matched to how MDE papers are printed.
An eight-answer drill. MDE-518 sets practise the 2 + 4 + 2 rule that the shared MDE-418/MDE-518 paper uses.
Grading practice. MDE-413 sets include a marked sample response for the Appendix I option.
Themes ranked by count. Recurring themes carry their n of N from IGNOU’s own papers.
Answer lengths that fit. Model answers aim at 1,200, 600 or 300 words, as the paper asks.
PGDDE included. PGDDE shares all five Year I codes and sits the same papers.
Year II covered. MDE-415, MDE-416, MDE-417 and MDE-419 are prepared too.
English, as examined. MADE is taught and examined in English, so every set is in English.
Dated to December 2026. Each set targets the December 2026 term-end examination.
PDF or printed. ₹49 PDF or ₹100 printed per code; printed orders add one ₹100 courier charge.
No minimum order. One code or nine, the per-code rate stays the same.

MADE has nine examined MDE courses worth 56 credits in the July 2026 Common Prospectus: five in Year I worth 32 credits and four in Year II worth 24. The programme total is 64 credits; the remaining 8 credits carry no term-end paper. The prospectus gives English as the medium, and the same five Year I codes form PGDDE.

Dates follow IGNOU’s tentative sheet of 21 September 2026, with the slot read from the block each code sits in. The prospectus notes that MADE was revised from 60 to 64 credits from July 2020, and learners who finished Year I before then take the 2-credit bridge course MDE-521. IGNOU still examines the older MDE-418 jointly with MDE-518 in a single paper.

The MDE-418/MDE-518 paper is the odd one out: per the June 2025 paper, students of both codes answer eight questions of about 600 or 300 words, against six answers of 1,200 or 300 words in MDE-412, MDE-413 and MDE-419. The total is about 3,600 words either way, but the shared paper asks for more, shorter long answers, so a 1,200-word habit from MDE-412 overshoots there.
Labels that do not match, and old material to avoid.
- MDE-415 is Research Methods for Distance Education in the prospectus but Research for Distance Education in IGNOU’s paper archive and assignment booklets; MDE-416 switches between Curriculum Development in and for Distance Education.
- IGNOU’s archive index lists MDE-411 as Philosophy of Distance Education, while the prospectus title is Growth and Philosophy of Distance Education.
- In IGNOU’s June 2022, 2023 and 2024 archive indexes, the row labelled MDE-417/518 opens the MDE-417 paper, while the MDE-418/MDE-518 paper sits under a row labelled MDE-418/ with nothing after the slash.
- The June 2025 MDE-418/MDE-518 paper prints its serial line as B-1758/MDE-148/MDE-518, with 148 where 418 is meant.
- The June 2024 MDE-414 paper prints Maximum Marks : 75 where every other MDE paper reviewed prints Maximum Weightage : 75%.
- The prospectus gives PGDDE 32 credits in its course table, yet its lateral-entry text mentions PGDDE of 24 credits and its MADE note mentions PGDDE having 30 credits before July 2020.
- The 2026 Year I assignment booklet is headed PGDDE while its own instructions refer to the MADE programme.
- One MADE Year I listing on the publisher’s sister store, shrichakradhar.com, still names the programme wrongly and targets the 2025 sessions. It is being corrected; the codes on this page are the current ones.
- Old MADE papers under ES-series codes, such as ES-315, still circulate online. They belong to the older ES-series structure and do not match current MDE papers.
What the MDE Papers Kept Asking, June 2022 to December 2025
Six MDE-413 themes appeared in all four June papers from 2022 to 2025, and the option to grade the Appendix I sample assignment was printed every time. MDE-419 is almost as steady: a three-day training plan and the evaluation of training appeared in 4 of 4 papers from June 2022 to June 2024. No attempt rule changed in any of the four courses below between June 2022 and December 2025.

Answering the Appendix I option. In each of these four papers the sample response answered a question on Indian higher education and globalisation, and the printed instruction was the same: act as the academic counsellor, write marginal and global comments, award a grade from A to E, and tear off the appendix to attach it to the answer book. A workable structure is five or six marginal comments placed against specific lines, each naming one strength or one gap; a global comment of about 150 words covering content, structure and presentation; a grade that the comments justify; and the printed assessment sheet ticked to match. A grade of B with comments that list only errors is the mismatch to avoid.

MDE-419’s three-day training plan has changed audience each time: new faculty in June 2022, a research training in June 2023, administrative staff in December 2023 and academic counsellors in June 2024. Practising the plan once for each audience costs little and covers that pattern.

How the Theme Counts Were Made
The counts above come from 19 IGNOU term-end papers, each reviewed in full by ignouproject.com on 31 October 2026: six MDE-412 papers from June 2022 to December 2025, four MDE-413 and four MDE-418/MDE-518 papers from June 2022 to June 2025, four MDE-419 papers from June 2022 to June 2024, and the June 2024 MDE-414 paper for its layout. A theme counts when a question asks about the same idea, even in different words, so the matching is a human judgement rather than a word search. The theme tables cover MDE-412, MDE-413, MDE-418/MDE-518 and MDE-419; for MDE-411, MDE-414, MDE-415, MDE-416 and MDE-417, the format is confirmed against the latest IGNOU paper on WhatsApp. A count records what came back; it does not say what IGNOU will set next.
Misprints and Filing Quirks in the MDE Archive
IGNOU’s own files carry small slips worth knowing before you read them. The June 2023 MDE-419 paper prints evolution where evaluation of a training programme is meant, and the June 2024 paper prints competition for completion. MDE-413 papers run to between 8 and 12 printed pages because the appendix is bound in. The December 2024 MDE-412 paper sits in a general downloads folder whose address carries no session, so the session has to be read off page one. The STRIDE indexes for June 2022, June 2023 and June 2024 all carry the MDE-417/518 labelling slip described above, and the June 2024 index also lists the bridge course MDE-521.
How an MDE Revision Set Is Assembled
Each MDE set is built in five steps, starting from the code you send.
- Code and year. The code is checked against the July 2026 Common Prospectus, including whether you hold MDE-418 or MDE-518.
- Layout. The set copies the attempt rule of the latest IGNOU paper for that code: 1 + 4 + 1, or 2 + 4 + 2 for the shared MDE-418/MDE-518 paper.
- Theme order. Themes are placed by how often they came back, with the sessions noted, so the 4 of 4 themes come first.
- Answer length. Model answers are written to the printed guide: about 1,200, 600 or 300 words.
- Course extras. MDE-413 sets add a marked sample response for the Appendix I option, and MDE-419 sets add three-day training plans for different staff groups.
What an MDE Guess Paper Can Settle, and What Only the Blocks Can
A guess paper is a revision aid built from past IGNOU question papers and the syllabus. No one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance, and no claim is made that any question in this set will appear in your examination.
Useful For
A set helps an MDE learner decide what to revise first, practise the 1,200-word and 300-word lengths against the clock, rehearse the Appendix I grading task in MDE-413, and plan the eight answers of the shared MDE-418/MDE-518 paper.
Not a Substitute For
It cannot tell you the December 2026 questions, replace the MDE blocks on which IGNOU sets its papers, or prepare you for a layout IGNOU has not yet used. If a December 2026 paper changes its attempt rule, a set built on the old rule will not match it.
Revise MDE courses without paying
The MDE blocks are free on eGyankosh, IGNOU’s study material repository, and the alternative Gyankosh route helps when one link is slow. Short summaries are on the IGNOU study notes page, and printed blocks can be found through the IGNOU books download guide. IGNOU’s own past MDE papers are free as well, and the section on IGNOU’s papers further down shows where to find them.

IGNOU publishes its past MDE papers free on its Previous Year Question Papers download page, and the newest listing reaches the June 2026 session. Older MDE papers are filed by session in IGNOU’s archive, under STRIDE.
- Open ignou.ac.in, then Student Services, Downloads, Previous Year Question Papers.
- Pick the session, then find the code; MADE papers are filed under STRIDE, not the School of Education.
- Open the PDF and read the session on page one before relying on it.
- For the date sheet, open Announcements on ignou.ac.in and use the newest December 2026 PDF; IGNOU has posted a revised tentative December 2026 sheet.
- Match each MDE code, date and slot on the sheet to your hall ticket.
A year-wise list of past papers for all programmes is on the IGNOU last year paper page, and the IGNOU date sheet guide explains how tentative and final sheets differ. The Common Prospectus guide shows where programme tables sit.
Before and After the MDE Papers: Hall Ticket, Result and Grade Card
Download the hall ticket before 2 December and check that every MDE code on it matches the sheet; the December hall ticket page explains release and corrections, and the step-by-step hall ticket download covers enrolment-number login.
After the papers, MADE results appear with other master’s results on the IGNOU MA result page, and the general term-end result checker covers every programme. Assignment marks are tracked on the assignment marks and grade card page. If a grade looks wrong, the re-evaluation process has its own deadline. Completed courses show on the final grade card, and the CGPA calculator converts the result.
Other Material MADE and PGDDE Learners Order
Many MADE learners pair a revision set with solved IGNOU assignments for the 25 per cent side of each course, or with handwritten assignment help where the regional centre wants handwritten copies. Fuller course coverage comes from IGNOU help books and guide books ordered online, and sets for other programmes are listed on the IGNOU guess paper hub. Year II learners working on project work can follow the separate MADE project guide.
Medium and Session for MADE Sets: English Only, December 2026
Each set is prepared for the upcoming term-end examination, in every medium IGNOU examines that course in, and the medium for your course code is confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay. For MADE that medium is English: the July 2026 Common Prospectus lists English as the medium of instruction for MADE and PGDDE, and all 19 MDE papers reviewed from June 2022 to December 2025 were printed in English with no Hindi version. These sets target the December 2026 term-end examination; learners sitting in June 2027 get sets refreshed once IGNOU issues that sheet.
Ordering MDE Sets on WhatsApp: Formats, Charges and Dispatch
The rate is ₹49 per subject code for a solved guess paper as a PDF, or ₹100 per subject code as a printed copy. Printed copies carry a one-time courier charge of ₹100 per order, whatever the number of subject codes; the PDF has no courier charge. The PDF is shared on WhatsApp once payment is confirmed. A printed copy is dispatched the next day after payment is confirmed, and the courier details are shared on WhatsApp. No arrival date is promised, because transit time depends on the courier and your location. There is no minimum order: one subject or ten, same rate per format.
- Send your MDE codes, your year or PGDDE, and PDF or printed to +91 93546 37830.
- The codes, the medium and the latest paper layout are confirmed in reply.
- Pay the quoted amount: ₹49 per code for PDFs, or ₹100 per code plus one ₹100 courier charge for printed copies.
- PDFs arrive on WhatsApp after payment is confirmed; printed copies are dispatched the next day, with courier details shared on WhatsApp.
Rates for other services are on the services and charges page.
Sources and Review Dates Behind the MDE Analysis
IGNOU documents. Codes, titles, credits and medium come from section 3.34 of the July 2026 Common Prospectus. Dates come from IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 sheet dated 21 September 2026. Weightage and minimum grades come from the 2026 MDE assignment booklet. Layouts and themes come from the 19 MDE papers linked in the tables above.

Theme matching is a judgement. The tables do not yet include December 2025 or June 2026 papers for codes other than MDE-412; those sessions join at the next review. The October 2026 revision of the date sheet is posted as a scanned PDF, so its MDE dates should be checked on ignou.ac.in.

Common Questions About MADE and MDE Revision Sets
Yes. ignouproject.com prepares a MADE guess paper for each MDE course code for the December 2026 term-end examination, as a ₹49 PDF or a ₹100 printed copy per subject code. Each set follows the layout of the latest IGNOU paper for that code, and the code and format are confirmed on WhatsApp first.
Most MDE papers have three compulsory questions with internal choice in 3 hours: one long answer of about 1,200 words, four short answers of about 300 words, and one more long answer. MDE-418/MDE-518 differs: two 600-word answers, four 300-word answers and two more 600-word answers.
The first MADE paper is MDE-411 on Wednesday 2 December 2026, in the evening slot per IGNOU’s tentative sheet dated 21 September 2026. IGNOU revised that sheet in October 2026, so confirm the date on ignou.ac.in and on your hall ticket before the exam week.
Six MDE-413 themes appeared in all four June papers from 2022 to 2025: grading the Appendix I sample assignment, learner support models, study or writing skills, tutor comments, learner attrition, and counselling with tutoring. A count from past papers is a revision guide, not a forecast.
In the MDE-413 papers from June 2022 to June 2025, Question 3(b) asked the learner to act as an academic counsellor: write marginal and global comments on a sample assignment printed as Appendix I, award a grade on the A to E scale, and attach the appendix to the answer book.
The MDE term-end paper counts for 75 per cent of each course result and the assignment for 25 per cent. Every MDE paper reviewed prints a 75 per cent weightage line, and IGNOU’s 2026 assignment booklet gives assignments 25 per cent of the course grade.
Yes. IGNOU’s papers from June 2022 to June 2025 are printed as MDE-418/MDE-518 with a note that students of both codes attempt the same paper, and the tentative December 2026 sheet lists the two codes together on Monday 7 December 2026.
No one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance, and no claim is made that any question in a set will appear. What a set offers is practice on themes that came back in past MDE papers, written to the answer lengths IGNOU prints.
Use both if time allows. IGNOU’s past MDE papers are free and show the real wording; a guess paper groups recurring themes for one code with model answers. Learners short of time often start with the themes marked 4 of 4, then attempt one full past paper against the clock.
Yes. IGNOU posts term-end papers free on ignou.ac.in under Student Services, Downloads, Previous Year Question Papers, and older MDE papers sit in its session-wise archive. Check the session printed on page one, because some files are stored without the session in the address.
No. The July 2026 Common Prospectus lists English as the medium of instruction for MADE and PGDDE, and every MDE paper reviewed from 2022 to 2025 was set in English only, so MDE sets are prepared in English.
No. PGDDE uses the same five codes as MADE Year I, namely MDE-411, MDE-412, MDE-413, MDE-414 and MDE-518, and learners of both programmes sit the same term-end papers. A PGDDE learner orders the same MDE sets.
Keep about 10 minutes to read, then give each of the three questions about 56 minutes, because all three carry equal weightage. That means about 56 minutes per long answer and 14 minutes per short answer; in MDE-418/MDE-518 each 600-word answer gets about 28 minutes.
Very tight. On the tentative sheet, a learner sitting all five Year I papers plus MDE-415 and MDE-416 has seven papers between Wednesday 2 and Wednesday 9 December 2026, with Sunday 6 December the only free day. MDE-417 and MDE-419 follow on 18 and 19 December.
IGNOU’s 2026 assignment booklet for MADE and PGDDE sets three minimums: a D grade in each assignment, a C grade in the term-end examination of each course, and an overall C grade for the course once assignment and term-end results are combined.
A printed copy is dispatched the next day after payment is confirmed, and the courier details are shared on WhatsApp. No arrival date is promised, because transit time depends on the courier and your location. The PDF is shared on WhatsApp once payment is confirmed.
Judge any provider, this one included, on five checks: the set names the current MDE code, follows the latest paper’s layout, targets the December 2026 session, writes answers to IGNOU’s word lengths, and makes no accuracy promise. A seller quoting a percentage of questions that will come is a reason for caution.
MDE-521, Technology and Resources for Teaching Learning Process, is a 2-credit bridge course that the July 2026 Common Prospectus lists only for learners enrolled before July 2020. IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 sheet places it on Monday 21 December 2026.
