IGNOU MSCAST Guess Paper for December 2026: How Twelve Fifty-Mark MST Papers Were Set

Every MSCAST theory paper since June 2024 has followed one frame: 3 hours, 50 marks, one compulsory question and four of five. Inside that frame, MST-014 has set acceptance sampling, reliability and a time-series model in all four papers from June 2024 to December 2025, while MST-012 changed what its compulsory question asks.

Quick answer. An IGNOU MSCAST guess paper is a publisher’s revision set of recurring questions with model answers for one MST course code, built from IGNOU’s past term-end papers and the syllabus. The December 2026 MSCAST papers run from Wednesday 25 November 2026 (MST-011) to Wednesday 16 December 2026 (MSTE-012), per IGNOU’s tentative date sheet dated 21 September 2026. Four-credit MST papers are 3 hours and 50 marks: Question 1 is compulsory and any four of Questions 2 to 6 follow, 10 marks each. Sets cost ₹49 PDF · ₹100 printed, per subject code; printed orders carry a one-time ₹100 courier charge per order. MSCAST papers are set in English, so sets are in English. No one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance, and no claim is made that any question in a set will appear.

When Do the MSCAST Papers Run in December 2026?

The MSCAST theory papers run from 25 November to 16 December 2026, inside an IGNOU December window of 25 November 2026 to 13 January 2027. Those dates come from IGNOU’s Tentative Date Sheet for December, 2026 Term-End Examination, which is printed with the date 21 September 2026. The same file name on ignou.ac.in has carried earlier versions dated 19 August and 14 September, so a copy saved in August may show different days.

Tentative, dated 21 September 2026 The hall ticket timetable governs if IGNOU issues a revision. Some third-party sites describe later revised sheets; the revised file linked from those sites opened as an empty PDF when checked on 6 November 2026. The site’s own December 2026 date sheet page tracks changes for all programmes, and the IGNOU exam timing guide explains the two daily slots.

Year I in the Evening, Year II in the Morning

The sheet alternates the two years day by day. Semester I and II codes (MST-011 to MST-019) sit in the evening column on 25, 27 and 30 November and on 2, 4, 7, 9, 11 and 14 December. Semester III and IV codes take the morning column on the days between. Slots here are read from the position of each code in the sheet’s text, so check the column on the printed PDF or the hall ticket before travelling.

Ten Papers in Eleven Days for a Backlog Learner

A learner sitting Semester I with a carried-over Semester III course meets consecutive days. MST-011 on the evening of 25 November is followed by MST-020 the next morning, which leaves about seventeen hours between the two. Anyone carrying all of Semesters I and III faces ten papers between 25 November and 5 December, with only Sunday 29 November free. No two MSCAST codes share a date, so the risk is fatigue, not a clash. Tool 1 below flags every back-to-back pair in the codes you tick.

The exam form and fee rules are summarised on the IGNOU exam fee page; the hall ticket is covered further down.

How Much of an MST Course Grade the 50-Mark Paper Carries

The term-end examination carries 70 per cent of the final course result and assignments carry the remaining 30 per cent. For MSCAST, the figure is printed in IGNOU’s 2026 MST-016 assignment booklet, which gives the assignments 30 per cent weightage in the final grading. The question papers themselves print no weightage line; they print only “Maximum Marks : 50” or “Maximum Marks : 25”.

The practical effect is that a 50-mark paper is scaled to most of the grade. Each 10-mark question on an MST paper is worth one fifth of the paper, so dropping one long answer is a large share of the course. The IGNOU percentage calculator converts grades for job forms once results arrive.

Assignments are compulsory for each theory course and are not set for the five lab courses, per the 2026 booklet. A pass mark for MSCAST is not printed in any document reviewed here; the Programme Guide is the place to confirm it.

MSCAST Guess Paper, IGNOU’s Past MST Papers or a Solved Paper: Which to Open First

A guess paper is a revision set of important and recurring questions for one course code, such as MST-014, with model answers, prepared by a publisher from past papers and the syllabus. Learners also call it an important-questions set, expected questions or a model paper; on this page all of those mean the same product. A previous year question paper is the actual paper IGNOU set in an earlier term-end examination, free on IGNOU’s archive. A solved question paper is that actual paper with a publisher’s model answers.

For MSCAST the order of use matters more than the choice. The programme began in July 2023, so each course has only a few published sessions; reading two or three of IGNOU’s own papers first shows the layout, and a set then supplies worked methods for the topics that keep returning. Worked answers to IGNOU’s actual papers are covered on the site’s solved question papers page, and the wider catalogue for other programmes sits on the IGNOU guess paper hub.

Built on the 50-mark frame. Every answer is sized for a 10-mark question, which is how MST papers award marks, not for 20-mark essays.

Numericals worked in full. Control limits, lot acceptance, reliability and allocation problems are solved line by line with the formula named.

Organised by block. MST-014 answers follow the course’s four blocks: process control, product control, time series and reliability.

The changed MST-012 Question 1. Short problems of 2 and 3 marks are included, matching the December 2025 layout, alongside the older True or False style.

True or False with reasons. MST-013, MST-014 and MST-016 still open with five statements; each model answer gives the reason in one or two lines.

Tables the paper gives. Where IGNOU prints Z, t or F values, as MST-016 papers do, answers use those values rather than software output.

Two-credit courses too. MST-011, MST-015, MST-019, MST-024 and MST-025 sets are sized for a 25-mark paper; the format is confirmed for each code on WhatsApp.

Current codes only. Sets use MSCAST codes from MST-011 onward, never the PGDAST MST-001 to MST-005 series.

English medium. MSCAST is taught and examined in English, so every set is in English.

Matched to December 2026. Each set targets the upcoming term-end examination, not a past session.

Per code, no bundle forced. One code or the whole semester, at the same rate per format.

Two formats. A PDF on WhatsApp, or a printed copy dispatched the next day after payment is confirmed.

Eighteen MST Theory Codes, 80 Credits and Each Paper’s Layout

MSCAST has 16 core theory courses worth 54 credits, five lab courses worth 18 credits, and a fourth-semester choice worth 8 credits, for 80 credits in total. That structure is printed in the July 2026 IGNOU Common Prospectus, section 3.55. The fourth-semester choice is either the two theory electives, MSTE-011 and MSTE-012, or the project and dissertation. The table below lists every theory code with its December 2026 date; the credits in it add to 62, and the 18 lab credits bring the elective route to 80.

How Each Reviewed MST Paper Is Laid Out

The MST-012 paper is 3 hours and 50 marks, with a compulsory Question 1 worth 10 marks and any four of Questions 2 to 6 at 10 marks each. That frame held for every four-credit MST paper compared here, from June 2024 to December 2025. The two-credit MST-019 paper is shorter: 2 hours, 25 marks, a 5-mark compulsory Question 1 and any two of three 10-mark questions.

Code and Title Traps to Check Before Buying Anything

Conflicts and outdated material

  • MST-004 is not MST-016. Both are titled “Statistical Inference”. MST-004 belongs to the PG Diploma in Applied Statistics (PGDAST, MST-001 to MST-005); MST-016 is the MSCAST course. A set or old paper labelled MST-004 is for a different programme with a different paper.
  • MST-022 is spelled three ways by IGNOU. The July 2026 Common Prospectus prints “Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus”; the June 2024 to June 2025 assignment booklet prints “Linear Algebra and Multivariate Calculus”; eGyanKosh lists “Liner Algebra and Multivariable Calculus”. The code is the same course; this page follows the prospectus.
  • MST-014’s full title is longer than many sellers print. The prospectus and every paper reviewed say “Statistical Quality Control and Time Series Analysis”; several catalogues drop “Analysis”.
  • MST-018 has no December 2025 file. IGNOU’s December 2025 question-paper index lists MST-011 to MST-017 and MST-019 to MST-026, but no MST-018. Its June 2024 paper remains on IGNOU’s archive.
  • In-house check. The site’s older MSCAST address now opens the project and dissertation article rather than a programme overview, so this page is the MSCAST revision reference on ignouproject.com.

What Twelve MST Papers Asked, June 2024 to December 2025

All four MST-014 papers from June 2024 to December 2025 set an acceptance-sampling problem, a reliability problem and a time-series model question. No other course compared here repeats so tightly. The twelve papers span five courses: four of MST-014, three of MST-012, two each of MST-013 and MST-016, and one of MST-019. December 2025 is the latest session IGNOU has published; its June 2026 question-paper index was still empty on 6 November 2026.

The course’s four blocks are process control, product control, time series and reliability, and the papers spend roughly one long question on each. Reliability arrives as a five-part, 2-marks-each numerical in December 2024 and December 2025 (reliability, hazard rate, mean time to failure, median life, life for a target reliability), and as a block-diagram system in June 2024 and June 2025. A learner who can do lot acceptance, a mean chart with revised limits, an AR(1) check and a reliability chain can attempt four of the five long questions in any of these sessions.

MST-012: The Compulsory Question Changed in December 2025

Pattern change

Question 1 of MST-012 was five True or False statements at 2 marks each in June 2024 and June 2025, and four short problems worth 2, 2, 3 and 3 marks in December 2025. The December 2025 items ask for a joint distribution from two coin tosses, a shared-birthday probability, the MGF of a uniform distribution and an upper bound on an exponential tail. The rest of the paper kept its shape: any four of Questions 2 to 6, 10 marks each. MST-013 and MST-014 kept the True or False opening in December 2025, so the change is specific to MST-012.

MST-012 is a measure-theoretic probability course, and the papers show it: sigma-fields and probability spaces appear in all three, and the Borel-Cantelli lemmas in two. The Central Limit Theorem was set as a full proof once, in June 2024, which makes it a seen-once topic rather than a recurring one.

When an Assignment Question Returns in the Paper

Question 6 of the December 2025 MST-012 paper, a sample-size problem for an election survey, uses the same set-up as Question 2(a) of IGNOU’s MST-012 assignment in the January to December 2024 booklet. The assignment asked for 90 per cent confidence within 0.03; the paper asked for at least 0.95 within 3 per cent. The heterogeneous-strata statement in Question 1 of both MST-013 papers also appears as Question 1(d) of the 2026 MST-013 assignment. Two echoes do not make a rule, but they are a reason to work the assignment questions fully rather than copy answers.

In both MST-013 papers, Questions 2 to 6 came in the same order: simple random sampling, stratified allocation, analysis of variance, a design numerical, then systematic sampling. Only two sessions are on file, so the order is an observation, not a pattern IGNOU has committed to. The June 2024 paper printed F values inside the questions rather than as a table.

Both MST-016 papers end with Z, t and either chi-square or F values printed for the learner, which means table look-up is expected and software output is not. The June 2024 paper labels two parts of Question 3 as “(ii)”, a numbering slip worth knowing if a solved answer refers to “part (iii)”.

Method Behind the MST Counts

Each count above comes from IGNOU’s own term-end papers, compared question by question by ignouproject.com on 6 November 2026: MST-014 for June 2024, December 2024, June 2025 and December 2025; MST-012 for June 2024, June 2025 and December 2025; MST-013 for June 2024 and December 2025; MST-016 for June 2024 and December 2024; and MST-019 for June 2024. Matching is by topic and is a human judgement, so “lot acceptance probability” and “double sampling plan” count as one acceptance-sampling theme. A count of “2 of 4” means two of four sessions, nothing more. The theme tables cover MST-012, MST-013, MST-014 and MST-016; for other codes, the format is confirmed against the latest IGNOU paper on WhatsApp.

The twelve IGNOU files behind these counts, each on IGNOU’s own servers:

Two files in the December 2024 set sit in a generic folder with no session in the address; the session printed on page 1 of each was checked. Free copies of other IGNOU sessions are gathered on the site’s IGNOU last year paper page.

How an MST Revision Set Is Put Together

  1. Fix the code and its current layout. The latest IGNOU paper for the code sets the answer lengths: 10-mark long answers for four-credit codes, a 5-mark compulsory question for MST-019.
  2. Group past questions by block. For MST-014 that means four groups; for MST-013, sampling first and design second.
  3. Work each recurring numerical in full. Formula named, values substituted, result interpreted in one line, as an evaluator expects.
  4. Add the seen-once topics briefly. A topic that appeared once, such as the MST-012 CLT proof, gets a compact answer, not the same weight as a 3 of 3 theme.
  5. Check against the syllabus and the December 2026 session. Codes, titles and the session target are confirmed before the set is shared.

What an MSCAST Guess Paper Can and Cannot Do in a Numerical Paper

A guess paper is a revision aid built from past IGNOU question papers and the syllabus. No one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance, and no claim is made that any question in this set will appear in your examination.

What a Set Does Well for MST Papers

It gives worked methods for the problem types that recur, such as producer and consumer risk in MST-014 or allocation in MST-013, in the 10-mark length an MST paper rewards. It also gives a time plan: with 50 marks in 180 minutes, every mark is worth a little over three minutes.

What No Set Can Do

It cannot tell you which numbers IGNOU will use, which of the five long questions will be easiest, or whether MST-012’s December 2025 opening will be kept. MSCAST began in July 2023, so each course has only a handful of past sessions and every count here rests on a short record. The blocks on eGyanKosh remain the full syllabus.

Revise it free first

IGNOU’s MST blocks are free on eGyanKosh, and the Gyankosh guide explains a second route to the same files. Printed blocks and other free material are listed on the IGNOU books download page, and topic summaries for other courses are on the IGNOU study notes page. IGNOU’s own papers for June 2024 onward are linked above at no cost.

Where IGNOU Keeps MST Papers and the December 2026 Sheet

IGNOU publishes MSCAST papers in three places, and the newest session is easiest to find through its session index. The December 2025 question-paper index (IGNOU) lists every code filed for that session. June 2024 papers sit under the June 2024 School of Sciences page (IGNOU), while 2025 papers are filed by session folder on ignou.ac.in, as the links in the evidence section show.

  1. Open the session index and search the page for the code, for example MST-014.
  2. Open the PDF and read the session printed on page 1, because some files sit in folders with no session in the address.
  3. For dates, open IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 date sheet (IGNOU PDF) and check the date printed at the top.
  4. Compare the date and slot against the hall ticket when it is issued.

Date sheets for other cycles are collected on the site’s IGNOU date sheet page.

Hall Ticket Before, Result and Revaluation After the MST Papers

The December 2026 hall ticket carries the final date and slot for each MST code; the IGNOU hall ticket page shows how to download it. After the papers, term-end marks appear through the steps on the IGNOU result guide, and assignment marks and grade-card status through the assignment result checker. A learner unhappy with a mark can follow the IGNOU revaluation process. Once all courses are cleared, the final grade card guide explains the consolidated record, and the CGPA calculator converts grade points.

The five MSTL lab courses are examined separately in IGNOU’s term-end practical sessions, so their dates are not on the theory sheet.

Other MSCAST Material Learners Order Alongside a Set

Solved MST assignments for the current booklet are listed on the solved assignments page, and IGNOU-style reference books on guide books online and IGNOU help books. For the fourth-semester project route, the MSCAST project and dissertation article covers MSTP-011 separately.

Which Language MST Papers Use, and Which Cycle a Set Targets

MSCAST is taught and examined in English. The July 2026 Common Prospectus gives English as the medium of instruction, and none of the twelve IGNOU papers compared here carries a Hindi half. Each set is prepared for the upcoming term-end examination, in every medium IGNOU examines that course in, and the medium for your course code is confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay.

The December 2026 sets follow the December 2025 layout for each code. If IGNOU issues a revised date sheet or a paper changes shape, the set is matched to the newest IGNOU paper on file.

How to Order an MSCAST Set on WhatsApp, With Both Prices

₹49 PDF · ₹100 printed, per subject code

The rate is ₹49 per subject code for a solved guess paper as a PDF, or ₹100 per subject code as a printed copy. Printed copies carry a one-time courier charge of ₹100 per order, whatever the number of subject codes; the PDF has no courier charge. The PDF is shared on WhatsApp once payment is confirmed. A printed copy is dispatched the next day after payment is confirmed, and the courier details are shared on WhatsApp. No arrival date is promised, because transit time depends on the courier and your location. There is no minimum order: one subject or ten, same rate per format.

  1. Message +91 93546 37830 with your MST codes, for example MST-012 and MST-014.
  2. Choose PDF or printed. Three printed codes cost ₹300 plus the one-time ₹100 courier charge, ₹400 in all; three PDFs cost ₹147.
  3. Pay after the codes and format are confirmed.
  4. Receive the PDF on WhatsApp, or the courier details for the printed copy after dispatch.

IGNOU documents. Course codes, titles, credits and medium come from the IGNOU Common Prospectus for July 2026, section 3.55, also summarised on the site’s IGNOU prospectus guide. Paper layouts and question topics come from the twelve IGNOU papers linked in the evidence section. Dates come from the tentative December 2026 date sheet dated 21 September 2026. The weightage comes from the 2026 MST-016 assignment (IGNOU PDF), and the assignment echo from the January to December 2024 MSCAST booklet (IGNOU PDF) and the 2026 MST-013 assignment (IGNOU PDF). The title “Linear Algebra and Multivariate Calculus” is quoted from the June 2024 to June 2025 MSCAST booklet (IGNOU PDF).

Analysis by ignouproject.com. The recurrence counts, the time plan and the pattern-change reading are the publisher’s own, compared on 6 November 2026. Slots are read from the position of codes in the date sheet’s text. Topic matching is a judgement, and MSCAST’s short history means two or three sessions stand behind most counts.

Commercial terms. Prices, formats and dispatch are the publisher’s terms, not IGNOU’s.

Important Notice

ignouproject.com is an independent IGNOU study-support publisher. It is not the official website of Indira Gandhi National Open University, is not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by the university, and no page on this site should be treated as an official IGNOU communication.

Programme structures, course codes, examination dates, question-paper patterns and rules change, and only ignou.ac.in and your Regional Centre can confirm the current position for your enrolment.

A guess paper is a revision aid built from past IGNOU question papers and the syllabus. No one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance, and no claim is made that any question in this set will appear in your examination.

Study the official IGNOU material for every course you are sitting; a guess paper supplements that material and does not replace it.

No claim is made about the marks you will receive, about how an evaluator will assess your answers, or about your result. Examination and evaluation are entirely a matter for IGNOU.

MST-011 opens the MSCAST papers on 25 November 2026
