Quick answer. An IGNOU MSCGI guess paper is a revision set of important and recurring questions, with model answers, for one MGY course code of the M.Sc. Geoinformatics programme. IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 date sheet, dated 21 September 2026, runs the term-end examination from 25 November 2026 to 13 January 2027, and the MSCGI theory papers fall between 4 December 2026 (MGY-102) and 6 January 2027 (MGYE-042), one code per date. Six-credit courses such as MGY-101, MGY-005 and MGY-010 are set as 3-hour, 75-mark papers; four-credit courses such as MGY-006 are 2 hours and 50 marks. Each set costs ₹49 as a PDF or ₹100 as a printed copy per subject code, and printed orders add a one-time ₹100 courier charge. MSCGI papers are set in English, and the medium is confirmed on WhatsApp before payment. No one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance.

MSCGI December 2026 Papers: Fourteen Codes on Fourteen Separate Days

The first MSCGI theory paper is MGY-102 on Friday 4 December 2026 and the last is MGYE-042 on Wednesday 6 January 2027, per IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 date sheet dated 21 September 2026. The full term-end window on that sheet runs from 25 November 2026 to 13 January 2027.

IGNOU has given every geoinformatics code its own date. No MSCGI learner faces two MGY papers on one day, not even a learner carrying a semester II backlog into semester IV. The one tight pair sits in semester I, where MGY-102 on Friday 4 December is followed by MGY-103 on Saturday 5 December. Semester IV is the long one: five papers from 26 December to 6 January.

Every code from MGY-102 to MGY-014 sits in the first block of its date on the sheet, which is the morning slot; the two IGNOU exam slots and their timings are explained separately. MGYE-041 and MGYE-042 appear late in short lists for 4 and 6 January, which reads as the evening slot, so those two should be checked on the hall ticket.

Third-party pages describe revisions dated 6 October and 30 October 2026 and an end date of 14 January 2027. The file at IGNOU’s own link, the tentative December 2026 date sheet, still carried the 21 September 2026 date and a last day of 13 January 2027 when ignouproject.com checked it on 7 November 2026, and a “revised” file dated 8 October that circulates on other sites opens empty. A code-by-code view of the whole cycle is on the December 2026 exam date sheet page, and centre allocation is covered under IGNOU exam centre details. If the hall ticket shows a different date, the hall ticket governs.

Seventy Per Cent of Every MGY Result Is Written in the Exam Hall

The term-end examination carries 70 per cent of the final course result and assignments carry the remaining 30 per cent.

For MSCGI the split is printed in IGNOU’s 2026 assignment booklets: the MGY-006 booklet for the January and July 2026 cycles states that assignments carry 30 per cent weightage in the final grading. None of the MGY question papers compared on this page prints a weightage line of its own, so the booklet is the document to cite.

What changes between courses is the size of the paper. A 6-credit MGY course is examined out of 75 marks in 3 hours, and a 4-credit course out of 50 marks in 2 hours, so one MGY-005 paper weighs half as much again as one MGY-006 paper. Learners who want their marks as a percentage can use the IGNOU percentage calculator. Pass requirements are set out in the MSCGI Programme Guide, which governs them.

Choosing Between an MGY Guess Set, an IGNOU Paper and a Solved Paper

A guess paper is a revision set of important and recurring questions for one course code, such as MGY-005, with model answers, prepared by a publisher from IGNOU’s past papers and the syllabus; sellers also call it important questions, expected questions or a model paper. A previous year question paper is the actual paper IGNOU set in an earlier term-end examination, and IGNOU publishes it free: its December 2025 list alone holds 15 geoinformatics files. A solved question paper is that actual IGNOU paper with a publisher’s model answers added.

For MSCGI the free papers carry more weight than usual, because the semester II papers have been stable enough over five sessions to show which themes return. Most learners do best opening IGNOU’s own papers first, then using a set to revise those themes in the current layout. Publisher answers to IGNOU’s past papers are covered on the IGNOU solved question papers page.

  • Built on 15 MGY papers. Theme counts come from IGNOU’s MGY-005, MGY-006 and MGY-007 papers, December 2023 to December 2025.

  • Current MGY-005 layout. Answers are sized for the four-question paper IGNOU has set since June 2025.

  • Right code, right length. MGY-101 sets are written for 75 marks, not for the 50-mark MGY-001 paper that shares its title.

  • Answers to the clock. A 10-mark answer is sized for about 22 minutes of writing on a 2-hour paper.

  • Short notes practised. Every MGY paper compared carries a 20-mark or 25-mark short-note block.

  • Diagrams marked. MGY-005 papers ask for well-labelled diagrams; model answers show where one belongs.

  • R, Python and GEE. MGY-005 and MGY-010 sets cover the programming themes those papers keep returning to.

  • Per code, no bundle. One subject or ten, the same rate per format.

  • Two formats. ₹49 PDF · ₹100 printed, per subject code.

  • December 2026 cycle. Each set targets the December 2026 term-end examination.

  • English medium. MSCGI papers are set in English, and sets follow the paper.

  • Checked before payment. The code’s format is matched to IGNOU’s latest paper on WhatsApp first.

Three laboratory courses, MGYL-104, MGYL-008 and MGYL-012, carry 6 credits each and are examined outside the theory sheet. In semester IV the prospectus lists the 8-credit MGYP-031 project beside the two 4-credit electives MGYE-041 and MGYE-042. The theory codes in the table add up to 54 credits, the laboratory courses to 18, and either the project or both electives to 8, which gives the 80 credits the prospectus states. MGYE-022, Advanced Programming in Geoinformatics, is listed as an alternative to MGYE-021 “as and when developed” and is not on the December 2026 sheet.

Paper Length Follows Credits: 75 Marks for Six, 50 for Four

IGNOU sets each 6-credit MSCGI theory course (MGY-101, MGY-005 and MGY-010) as a 3-hour, 75-mark paper and each 4-credit course as a 2-hour, 50-mark paper, per its December 2025 papers. On the publisher’s assumption of a 10-minute reading allowance, that leaves about 2.3 minutes of writing per mark on a 3-hour paper and about 2.2 on a 2-hour paper, so a 10-mark answer gets roughly 22 to 23 minutes and a 5-mark short note about 11.

Layouts are taken from IGNOU’s December 2025 papers for MGY-101 (B-1748), MGY-102 (A-405), MGY-103 (B-1749), MGY-009 (C-2752), MGY-010 (C-2749), MGY-011 (C-2750), MGY-013 (D-3225), MGY-014 (D-3226), MGYE-021 (C-2753); the MGY-005, MGY-006 and MGY-007 rows use the December 2025 papers listed under the theme tables below. Every MGY paper prints “All questions are compulsory” even where the questions inside offer a choice. MGY-010 and MGYE-021 are the two without either/or pairs: MGY-010 asks for any two of four long answers twice and five short notes out of eight, and MGYE-021 asks for any three of six 10-mark answers.

Old PGCGI Codes That Share a Title With MSCGI Codes

MGY-001, MGY-002 and MGY-003 belong to the old 16-credit PG Certificate in Geoinformatics, which IGNOU’s 2025 PGCGI 16-credit booklet describes as the version for learners admitted up to the July 2023 cycle. They are still examined: a June 2026 MGY-003 paper is on IGNOU’s archive, and the December 2026 sheet places MGY-001, MGY-002 and MGY-003 on the same dates as MGY-101, MGY-102 and MGY-103. The titles match; the papers do not.

A printed guess book still listed on a large marketplace targets MGY-1, MGY-2 and MGY-3 under the certificate’s name. It is not written for the MSCGI first semester, and the same caution applies to any free file whose code ends in 001, 002 or 003 when the hall ticket says 101, 102 or 103.

Disagreements Between IGNOU’s Own Documents

  • The July 2026 Common Prospectus prints MGY-013 as “Research Mathodology and Professional Skills in Geoinformatics”; the December 2025 paper prints “Research Methodology”, and the same paper spells “resarch” in short note (d).
  • The prospectus asks semester IV learners to take “any two courses” from MGYP-031 (8 credits), MGYE-041 and MGYE-042 (4 each). Only the project alone, or both electives together, bring semester IV to its 20 credits.
  • The prospectus names MGYE-021 “Emerging Application of Geoinformatics”; the 2025 semester IV assignment booklet prints “Emerging Applications of Geoinformatics”.
  • The same prospectus spells MGY-006 “Modelling” in the MSCGI table and “Modeling” in the PGDGI table.
  • In December 2023 IGNOU printed the MGY-006 paper under M.Sc. Geoinformatics alone and the MGY-007 paper under the PG Diploma alone, though both courses serve both programmes; from June 2025 both papers carry “PGDGI/MSCGI”.
  • The December 2025 MGY-007 paper carries “BSE-144”, another course’s code, in the running head of its third page.
  • IGNOU’s session list for June 2026 showed no files when checked on 7 November 2026, although individual June 2026 geoinformatics papers such as MGY-003 are already on the archive.
  • In-house: the ignouproject.com guess paper hub still carries retired codes from other programmes under a 2026 heading. No MGY format on this site was found to disagree with IGNOU’s papers, and the hub listing is on the correction list.

Fifteen MGY Papers Side by Side, December 2023 to December 2025

Seven themes appeared in all five of IGNOU’s MGY-005 papers from December 2023 to December 2025, across two different layouts: change detection, R programming, image errors, microwave and radar remote sensing, statistics of image data, image classification and aerial photographs. MGY-006 and MGY-007 each show three themes in all five papers.

MGY-005: Two Layouts in Five Papers

MGY-005 changed layout between December 2024 and June 2025. IGNOU’s December 2023, June 2024 and December 2024 MGY-005 papers had six questions: short notes (four of six or seven, 20 marks), three either/or questions, two 10-mark questions with no choice at all, and one 15-mark question. The June 2025 and December 2025 papers have four: two blocks of “any two of three” at 10 marks each, short notes four of six (20 marks), and one 15-mark either/or question. Time and marks did not change, 3 hours and 75 marks.

The count of long answers stayed at five. What changed is the choice: four of the five long answers are now picked from six options, where two used to be fixed. A set written on the old layout drills two compulsory 10-mark answers that the current paper no longer has.

Local, neighbourhood or zonal raster operations, network or path analysis, and remote sensing and GIS data integration each appeared in all five of IGNOU’s MGY-006 papers from December 2023 to December 2025. GIS programming appeared in each of the three papers from December 2023 to December 2024 and in neither 2025 paper, so it is not treated as a fixture. The layout did not change: short notes four of six, then three 10-mark either/or questions.

Each count comes from IGNOU’s own MGY-005, MGY-006 and MGY-007 term-end papers for December 2023, June 2024, December 2024, June 2025 and December 2025, fifteen papers in all, each compared by ignouproject.com on 7 November 2026. A theme is counted once per paper when any question or short note in that paper asks about it, whether it sits in a fixed question or in one arm of an either/or. Matching is at theme level and is a judgement: “systematic and non-systematic radiometric errors” and “geometric errors and their corrections” both count as image errors. Cells show the question number; a dash means the theme was not asked that session.

The theme tables cover MGY-005, MGY-006 and MGY-007. For other codes, the format is confirmed against the latest IGNOU paper on WhatsApp. IGNOU had not listed June 2026 papers for these three codes when checked, so the counts stop at December 2025. A theme seen once is reported as seen once, and a count says how often IGNOU has asked, not what IGNOU will ask in December 2026. Earlier sessions are linked from the IGNOU last year paper guide.

How a Geoinformatics Revision Set Is Assembled

Five steps, in the same order for every MGY code.

  1. Code and semester confirmed. The code on the exam form is matched to the prospectus, so an MGY-101 learner never receives an MGY-001 set.

  2. Latest IGNOU paper checked. The newest published paper for the code fixes the number of short notes and the length of each long answer.

  3. Recurring themes ranked. Themes are ordered by how many of IGNOU’s recent papers asked them, then filled out from the course blocks.

  4. Answers written to the clock. Ten-mark answers are sized for about 22 to 23 minutes, short notes for about 11, with diagrams marked where MGY papers ask for them.

  5. Shared in the chosen format. The PDF goes out on WhatsApp once payment is confirmed; a printed copy is dispatched the next day after payment.

Where an MGY Guess Set Helps and Where It Stops

A guess paper is a revision aid built from past IGNOU question papers and the syllabus. No one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance, and no claim is made that any question in this set will appear in your examination.

What a Set Does for an MGY Paper

It puts the themes IGNOU keeps asking, such as change detection in MGY-005 or raster operations in MGY-006, at the front of a short revision window. It sizes answers for the paper actually being sat, 75 marks or 50. It gives short-note practice, which is a fixed 20 or 25 marks on every MGY paper compared here.

What No Set Can Do in December 2026

It cannot say which of the six MGY-005 long-answer options IGNOU will print. It cannot replace the course blocks, which is where the less frequent themes live. It has no past paper to stand on for MGYE-041 and MGYE-042, whose first papers appear on this December 2026 sheet. And if IGNOU changes a layout again, as it did for MGY-005 in 2025, a set built on the old layout trains the wrong answer lengths until it is revised.

Revise it free first. IGNOU’s own MGY papers are free (see the steps further down), and the MGY blocks are on eGyankosh, explained in the eGyankosh guide with an alternative route on the Gyankosh page. Free IGNOU study notes and the IGNOU books download page cover the rest.

Getting IGNOU’s Geoinformatics Papers and the December Sheet Yourself

IGNOU lists each session’s papers on a session page; the December 2025 session list holds 15 geoinformatics files, from MGY-001 to MGYE-021.

  1. Open the question paper section of ignou.ac.in and choose the session.

  2. Search the list for the MGY code exactly as printed on the hall ticket, for example MGY-005.

  3. Check the session printed under “Term-End Examination” on page 1. Some files sit in a folder whose address carries no session at all.

  4. For dates, open the Student Evaluation Division notice on ignou.ac.in and search the code without its hyphen: the sheet prints MGY005.

Older sessions and other programmes are explained on the IGNOU date sheet guide, alongside the last year paper guide linked under the theme tables.

Hall Ticket Before the MGY Papers, Grade Card After

The hall ticket for December 2026 carries the final date and slot for each MGY code; download steps are on the IGNOU hall ticket page. Where IGNOU reopens late exam forms, the fee rules are on the IGNOU exam fee page.

After the papers, TMA marks show up first, through the assignment result and grade card check. The term-end marks follow on the IGNOU term-end result page, a paper can be sent for IGNOU revaluation, and at the end of semester IV the final grade card and the CGPA calculator close the record.

Other Help MSCGI Learners Order Alongside

The 30 per cent component is covered on the MSCGI handwritten assignment page, and typed answers to IGNOU assignments are listed among the IGNOU solved assignments. Learners who want a full course companion use IGNOU help books or guide books online. The MGYP-031 project has its own guide on the MSCGI MGYP-031 project page. For guess papers in other programmes, the IGNOU guess papers hub lists every course.

English-Only Papers and the Cycle Each Set Targets

The July 2026 Common Prospectus lists English as the MSCGI medium of instruction, and every MGY paper compared on this page is printed in English only, with no Hindi half. Each set is prepared for the upcoming term-end examination, in every medium IGNOU examines that course in, and the medium for your course code is confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay.

The sets on this page target the December 2026 term-end examination. The June 2027 cycle is added once IGNOU issues its tentative date sheet for it.

Sending an MSCGI Order on WhatsApp

  1. Send the MGY codes, the semester and the format to +91 93546 37830.

  2. The layout and medium for each code are confirmed against IGNOU’s latest paper.

  3. Payment is made for the confirmed codes.

  4. The PDF is shared, or the printed copy is dispatched, as set out below.

₹49 PDF · ₹100 printed, per subject code

The rate is ₹49 per subject code for a solved guess paper as a PDF, or ₹100 per subject code as a printed copy. Printed copies carry a one-time courier charge of ₹100 per order, whatever the number of subject codes; the PDF has no courier charge.

The PDF is shared on WhatsApp once payment is confirmed. A printed copy is dispatched the next day after payment is confirmed, and the courier details are shared on WhatsApp. No arrival date is promised, because transit time depends on the courier and your location.

There is no minimum order: one subject or ten, same rate per format. Rates for other services are on the services and charges page.

How ignouproject.com Checked Every Figure Here

IGNOU documents. Course codes, titles, credits and the medium of every MGY course come from the July 2026 Common Prospectus, compared across its M.Sc. Geoinformatics, PG Diploma and PG Certificate sections. Dates come from the tentative December 2026 date sheet dated 21 September 2026. Weightage comes from the 2026 MGY assignment booklets. Layouts and themes come from IGNOU’s MGY papers from December 2023 to June 2026, each linked where it is used.

Publisher’s analysis. The theme counts, the reading of the MGY-005 layout change, the 10-minute reading allowance and the minutes per answer are ignouproject.com’s own work, with the method stated beside the tables.

Commercial terms. Prices, formats, dispatch and medium confirmation are the publisher’s terms and are not IGNOU’s.

Published 7 November 2026 · Last reviewed 7 November 2026 · Next review: when IGNOU issues the June 2027 tentative date sheet, expected around February 2027.

Limits, stated plainly: the December 2026 sheet is tentative; MGYE-041 and MGYE-042 have no earlier IGNOU paper; the theme counts stop at December 2025 because no June 2026 papers for MGY-005, MGY-006 and MGY-007 were listed when checked.
