Your Two MAHV Cut-Offs: 31 March and 30 September
These two dates are read off IGNOU’s own MAHV assignment booklets on the university assignment portal, not carried across from another programme. The MHV-007 booklet and the MHV-008 booklet for the July 2024 to January 2025 sessions both print the same pair, and the MTT-016 booklet filed under MAHV prints the same pair expressed the other way round, by admission session.

Printed as 30 सितम्बर. The MTT-016 booklet gives 30-9 as the cut-off for January-admission learners and 31-3 for July-admission learners, which is the same pair described from the other end.
Both booklets add that assignments will not be accepted after the last date. IGNOU does announce central extensions in some cycles, and a Regional Centre can set its own collection window, so confirm your own date on ignou.ac.in and with your Regional Centre before you rely on either figure. Dates shift by session and by Regional Centre.
Thirty Marks a Paper Decided Before You Sit the Exam
Assignments carry 30 per cent of the final course result and the term-end examination carries the remaining 70 per cent. For MAHV that weightage is thirty marks on each of ten papers, and they are the only thirty marks in the programme you can earn at your desk, in your own time, with the study material open in front of you.
The arithmetic is unforgiving in one direction. A MAHV learner who skips the MHV-009 set walks into the television-writing paper needing seventy out of seventy to reach the same place a classmate reaches with fifty-five. Worse, a missing TMA leaves the course result showing as incomplete on the consolidated grade card IGNOU issues at the end, which is the document an employer or a PhD admissions committee actually reads.
MAHV compounds this because nothing in it is optional. There is no elective bank to hide a weak paper in and no project or dissertation to lift the average. Ten compulsory papers, ten handwritten TMA sets, seventy-two credits, and every one of them counted.
Every MAHV code, not a shortlist. A handwritten assignment is written for MHD-01 through MHD-06 in the first year, MHV-007 through MHV-010 in the second, and the MTT-016 translation paper that most sellers quietly leave off their handwritten assignment lists.
Written in Devanagari by hand. MAHV is a Hindi-medium programme. The handwritten answers are written in Hindi in Devanagari script on ruled A4 sheets in blue or black pen, the way the booklets ask.
Your handwriting, not a house style. The handwritten pages are not written in one uniform house hand. Send a photo of a page you have written yourself and the handwritten set is matched to your handwriting at no extra charge.
The word limits printed on your paper. MHV-007 and MHV-008 ask for roughly 500 to 550 words on the long questions and 200 to 250 on the short notes. Those limits, not a generic template, set the length.
Backlog papers are ordinary work. Any session is accepted, current cycle or older, including backlog courses, at the same ₹320 per subject. A handwritten MHD-04 from 2022-23 is priced exactly like a current MHV-010.
One paper, one order, no bundle. There is no minimum order: one subject or fourteen, same rate. If nine handwritten sets are done and MHV-009 is not, order the MHV-009 handwritten set alone.
Courier is inside the price. The rate is ₹320 per subject, hard copy only, with courier included in that price and no separate shipping charge.
Nothing is sold as a file. No soft copy or PDF is sold. If your Regional Centre wants an upload, you scan the handwritten pages that reach you and upload the scan yourself.
The MTT paper is routed separately. The MTT-016 booklet filed under MAHV instructs learners to send that handwritten assignment to the School of Translation Studies and Training, not to the ordinary study centre desk.
Assignment codes copied off your booklet. IGNOU prints the assignment code on the paper itself, and it is copied onto the handwritten cover sheet exactly as printed. We use the code your booklet prints, not the one another programme uses.
Cover page fields filled from your record. Enrolment number, programme title, course code, course title, assignment code and study centre name, laid out on the handwritten cover sheet the way the booklet shows them.
Ten papers is a real workload. Two full years of MAHV comes to ten handwritten sets of a hundred marks each. Spreading that handwritten assignment work across two cut-offs is the difference between a plan and a scramble.

All Ten MAHV Papers: MHD, MHV and MTT Codes With Credits
Master of Arts (Hindi Vyavsayik Lekhan) is a two-year School of Humanities programme of 72 credits, open to a graduate in any discipline, taught in Hindi, with a maximum span of four years. The MAHV syllabus below comes from the IGNOU Common Prospectus for July 2026. Titles are given in the Devanagari the prospectus prints, with an English gloss.
MAHV is the programme code. MHD is the course-code prefix on the five first-year papers and is shared with the MA Hindi programme, MAHD; MHV is the prefix on the four second-year papers and belongs to this programme alone; MTT is the prefix on the tenth paper, which is a School of Translation Studies and Training course borrowed into the MAHV structure. One programme, three prefixes.

Note what is absent. MHD-05 and MHD-07 are compulsory in the MA Hindi structure and are not part of MAHV. The MAHV first year is the MA Hindi literature core minus two papers, which is why a combo listing built for MA Hindi will contain a book you do not need.

Thirty-six credits plus thirty-six credits is the 72 the prospectus states for MAHV. Three of the four MHV papers are built from two parts each — MHV-007 pairs a mass-communication half with a newspaper and feature-writing half, and MHV-008 and MHV-009 are each printed in two parts — so one 8-credit code can carry twice the reading a single-block course would.
Conflicts found in IGNOU’s own documents, and one on our own network
- The tenth code has three spellings. The Common Prospectus prints it as MTT-016. IGNOU’s own MAHV assignment index labels the link MMT-016. The file that link opens is named MTT-016 Assignemnt 2024 (MAHV).pdf, IGNOU’s own misspelling of “Assignment” included. MTT is the correct prefix; it is the School of Translation Studies and Training series that runs MTT-010 to MTT-017.
- Code padding is inconsistent inside one table. The prospectus prints the first-year codes with two digits (MHD-01) and the second-year codes with three (MHV-010) in the same block. The live booklet for the cinema paper prints its own code as MHV-10, and the file is named MHV-10.pdf. Both refer to the same course.
- The assignment code format is not consistent within one session. Three MAHV booklets from the July 2024 to January 2025 cycle print three different renderings: MHV-007/TMA/2024-25, MHV-008/TMA/2024-2025 and MHV-10/TMA/2024-25. Copy the code exactly as your own booklet prints it.
- A wrong date in IGNOU’s own MHV-010 booklet. It gives the July 2024 cut-off as 31 March 2024 — a date that had already passed before the session opened. The MHV-007 and MHV-008 booklets for the identical session both print 31 March 2025, which confirms the MHV-010 line as a typing error rather than a real variation.
- A doubled full stop in the prospectus. MHD-01 and MHD-02 are printed in the MAHV structure as एम.एच.डी..-01 and एम.एच.डी..-02, with two stops instead of one. The remaining three first-year codes are printed normally.
- One code, two titles, one document. MHD-01 is listed under MA Hindi as हिंदी काव्य-1 and under MAHV as हिंदी काव्य (आदिकाव्य, भक्ति एवं रीतिकाव्य) in the same prospectus. It is the same 4-credit course.
- Sellers publish nine codes, not ten. Several assignment listings for MAHV carry MHD-01, MHD-02, MHD-03, MHD-04, MHD-06 and MHV-007 to MHV-010 and stop there, dropping MTT-016 entirely. A learner working from such a list submits nine of ten sets.
- An error on our own network, disclosed. A study-material combo on our sister publication shrichakradhar.com is titled for MAHV first year and bundles MHD-05 along with MHD-01 to MHD-04 and MHD-06. MHD-05 is not part of the MAHV structure. The listing is being corrected; the table above is the one to work from.
- Site-wide items still open on ignouproject.com. The homepage carries an acceptance-and-refund guarantee, the MMPC-001 page promises dispatch within seven working days, the MCOM assignment page carries an outdated code list, and the MEG assignment page offers a Hindi MEG paper that does not exist. None of those claims is made here. No guarantee about marks, evaluation or acceptance is offered anywhere on this page, and no delivery figure is promised.
- Deadline noise on the wider web. Search results in 2026 have carried 30 April, 31 May, 15 June and 16 August as “the IGNOU assignment last date”. Those are central extension notices and TEE-linked cut-offs for other cohorts. The dates printed on your own MAHV booklet are 31 March and 30 September.

From Your TMA Booklet to a Bound Hindi Set
Assignment writing here is a five-stage manual process, described so you can see exactly what arrives and what is still yours to do. Nothing in the handwritten assignment is automated and nothing is printed.
One — the codes and the session are pinned down first. You send the code list and the session. We match each code against the MAHV structure and against IGNOU’s published booklet index, so a request for MHV-009 is written against the MHV-009 paper of the cycle you name, not last cycle’s. Where IGNOU has not yet published a paper for the session you want, we say so rather than writing a handwritten set against an older one.
Two — the question paper is read before a word is written. MAHV papers do not share one pattern. MHV-007 and MHV-008 set four questions of 15 marks and four notes of 10, answered in roughly 500 to 550 and 200 to 250 words. MHV-010 sets nine questions of 10 marks and a fourth-part note block worth 2.5 marks each. The MTT-016 booklet asks for roughly 500 words on long essay questions, 250 on short answers and 100 on notes. The length of the handwritten answer comes from your paper, not from a house rule.
Three — the answers are written in Devanagari on ruled A4 sheets. Blue or black pen on ruled A4. A left margin wide enough for an evaluator to write in, the question number before every handwritten answer, and clear space between one answer and the next — the MTT-016 booklet asks for at least four lines between answers, and that spacing is used throughout. Separate handwritten sheets per course, never mixed.
Four — the cover page carries the fields your booklet lists. Enrolment number, name, address and mobile on one side; programme title, course code, course title, assignment code and study centre name on the other; space left on the handwritten cover sheet for your signature and date, because those two are yours to add. The assignment code is copied from the paper itself in the format that paper prints.
Five — the set is checked, packed and couriered to your address. Handwritten pages counted against the question paper, ordered by question number, and sent as a hard copy. Courier is inside the ₹320. What you do next is submit it: MHD and MHV handwritten sets go to your allotted study centre, and the MTT handwritten paper follows the routing described below.
Matching Your Own Devanagari Hand
Send a photo of a page you have written yourself and the handwritten set is matched to your handwriting at no extra charge. One clear photo of half a page of your own handwritten Hindi is enough — a rough note, an old answer sheet, anything in your ordinary hand rather than your careful hand.
Devanagari makes this matter more than a Latin-script programme would. The way a learner forms the shirorekha, spaces conjuncts, and slopes the matras is individually recognisable, and a study centre coordinator who has seen your first-year handwritten MHD sheets will notice if the second-year handwritten MHV sheets look nothing like them. Matching removes that question before it is asked.

Downloading the Right MAHV Question Paper
Every MAHV TMA paper is published free by IGNOU. You never need to buy a question paper from anyone, including us.
Open the official assignment portal. Go to the IGNOU student services assignment download page and choose Master’s Degree Programmes, then MAHV. The programme index lists every session IGNOU has actually published for MAHV, which is the fastest way to see whether your cycle exists yet.
Check what has actually been posted. On the MAHV index the newest published set is the July 2024 to January 2025 cycle, carrying MHV-007, MHV-008, MHV-009, MHV-010 and the MTT-016 paper. The 2023-24 set carries the four MHV papers only. The 2022-23 set carries the five first-year MHD papers. If your session is not listed, IGNOU has not released it yet and no one else has it either.
Read the front matter before the questions. The first page carries the two submission dates, the assignment code, the total marks and the school. That is where the 31 March and 30 September pair comes from, and it is also where you will see whether your booklet prints the code as MHV-010 or MHV-10.
Cross-check one date against a second paper. This is worth thirty seconds. The MHV-010 booklet for 2024-25 prints a July cut-off of 31 March 2024, which is impossible, while the MHV-007 and MHV-008 booklets for the same cycle print 31 March 2025. When two papers disagree, the majority reading and your Regional Centre settle it, not the single odd sheet.

Tracking MAHV Assignment Marks on the Grade Card
Submission is not the end of it. MAHV marks reach the grade card through the study centre, the evaluator and the Student Evaluation Division in turn, and each hop can stall.
Get an acknowledgement at the counter when you hand the set in, and keep it. That receipt is the only proof you have that a paper reached the centre, and it is what a Regional Centre asks for when a code shows nothing months later. Learners submitting the MTT-016 paper to a different address should keep the dispatch and acknowledgement record for that one separately.
Once marks start moving, check them on the IGNOU assignment result and status page, which most learners search for as IGNOU assignment status and which explains what each status message means, and follow up with the marks status walkthrough if a code is missing. Your enrolment number is the key to every one of these lookups — this page explains where to find it if you have lost the card. Learners registered in the MA Hindi programme rather than MAHV, who share the MHD codes but take MHD-05 and MHD-07 as well, should use the MAHD handwritten assignment page instead, which carries the full twenty-three code list and the module structure. Medium and session, stated plainly. The service covers all mediums IGNOU issues the TMA paper in, at the same price. For MAHV that resolves to Hindi: the prospectus records the medium of instruction as Hindi, every MHV booklet is issued in Hindi, and there is no English-medium MAHV paper to write. The MTT-016 booklet is a School of Translation Studies and Training document and is issued for open and distance learning, online and e-Vidya Bharati learners together. On sessions: any session is accepted, current cycle or older, including backlog courses, at the same ₹320 per subject. TMA papers expire when IGNOU issues a new set, so a 2022-23 MHD-03 paper is a different document from a current one, and we write against the paper you name.

MAHV Handwritten Assignment Questions Learners Ask
Yes. Each of the ten MAHV papers — MHD-01, MHD-02, MHD-03, MHD-04, MHD-06, MHV-007, MHV-008, MHV-009, MHV-010 and MTT-016 — carries its own Tutor Marked Assignment, and the MAHV booklets state that a set submitted after the last date will not be accepted. Assignments carry 30 per cent of the final course result and the term-end examination carries the remaining 70 per cent, so a course with no valid TMA on record shows as incomplete on the grade card no matter what the exam mark is.
No. The MTT-016 booklet filed under MAHV states in Hindi that your answers must be handwritten, and adds that answers copied out of the study material will be marked down and that copying from another learner can get the set rejected outright. The MHV papers follow the same convention. Learners in an online-mode programme who upload a PDF are uploading a scan of a handwritten assignment, not a typed file.
Yes, in practice. The Common Prospectus records the MAHV medium of instruction as Hindi, and every MHV assignment booklet IGNOU publishes for the programme is issued in Hindi only. There is no English-medium MAHV question paper to answer, so the answers are written in Hindi in Devanagari script. This comes up constantly in Hindi-programme comment threads, and for MAHV the honest answer is that the question does not really arise: MAHV is a Hindi-medium programme and its question papers are set in Hindi, so answering in English would mean answering a Hindi paper in a language the course was not registered in. A learner who genuinely needs to change medium should raise it with their Regional Centre before the cut-off rather than after submitting, because only the Regional Centre can confirm what is permitted for that enrolment.
IGNOU’s own MAHV booklets print 31 March for July-session learners and 30 September for January-session learners. Those are School of Humanities dates, not the 31 October and 30 April pair that belongs to the School of Management Studies.
