Both SOSW Dates Fall In The Year After Your MSW Session

The School of Social Work prints its own submission schedule on the cover of every MSW booklet, directly under the address block, and those two dates are the ones a Social Work learner is held to. Both of them land in the calendar year after the session opens.

That pairing is the reverse of the School of Management Studies convention that most assignment websites reproduce, where a July session submits by 31 October. It is also not the single national date that news pages publish each cycle. At the time of this review at least four different MSW submission dates were circulating on commercial sites — 30 April 2026, 31 May 2026, 16 August 2026 and 31 October 2026 — and not one of them matches what IGNOU’s own School of Social Work booklet prints. Where a third-party page and the booklet in your hand disagree, you are held to the booklet.

Cut-offs move between cycles and between centres, so settle yours against ignou.ac.in and your own Regional Centre before you build a writing schedule around either date. The only real urgency on this page is the date printed inside your own MSW booklet; nothing here is time-limited by ignouproject.com. Submission is also an eligibility question rather than only a scoring one, because a course carrying an unsubmitted assignment does not complete even when the term-end paper has been passed.

Ten MSW Papers Carry The Thirty Per Cent, Not Fourteen

Assignments carry 30 per cent of the final course result and the term-end examination carries the remaining 70 per cent. On MSW that share is collected ten times, once for each theory course, and never for the four field-work codes.

The arithmetic is worth doing once. MSW is 72 credits. Forty of those credits are theory: five four-credit courses in the first year and five in the second. The remaining thirty-two are MSWL-013 Social Work Practicum-I, MSWL-014 Block Placement, MSWL-015 Social Work Practicum-II and MSWL-016 Internship, at eight credits each. Those four are assessed through supervised field work rather than through a written paper, so no Tutor Marked Assignment exists for them and none can be written for you. Learners regularly message asking for MSWL-013 and MSWL-014 assignments; there is no paper to answer.

What IGNOU does publish is broader than what any one learner writes. The First Year booklet prints papers for eight codes and the Second Year booklet prints papers for eight more, sixteen in all, because both booklets carry the full elective pool. You opt into five in each year, so ten of those sixteen papers are yours and six are somebody else’s. The cover of each booklet says so in one line: kindly write the assignments for the courses you have opted.

Each of the ten is marked out of 100. The booklets set five questions and state that all questions carry equal marks, which puts twenty marks on each: two long answers of not more than 600 words each, then two answers of about 300 words chosen from four at ten marks apiece, then four short notes of about 150 words chosen from six at five marks each, then five short notes of about 100 words chosen from eight at four marks each. Twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty and twenty is the hundred. Those word ceilings are printed on the paper and they are the programme’s own, not the general convention repeated on generic assignment pages.

Written out longhand, one MSW paper is roughly two thousand words across thirteen separate answers, and ten of them is a substantial term of writing before any revision begins. These are also the marks most easily lost, because they are written at home with the study material open against a deadline eight months away. MSW Solved Files And MSW Handwritten Sets Are Two Different Objects

Social Work learners use the two terms interchangeably on WhatsApp, and the confusion costs people money. Defining each one on its own removes it.

A solved assignment means a digital answer file, tied to one code and one session, that you open on a screen and read. A handwritten assignment means the same questions answered in ink across A4 sheets, tied into a bundle and carried to the counter. The first is reading material. The second is the submission itself. Nothing downloaded as a PDF can be handed in as an MSW submission, and a printout of a solved file is not a handwritten assignment however clean the printing is.

The MSW booklet settles the question in its own words. Every 2025-2026 MSW paper repeats the same instruction on page two: assignments are to be handwritten and duly signed before submission at the Study Centre. The same paragraph calls the assignment an open book examination and tells you to prepare a draft, correct it, then prepare the final version. That is a description of paper being written, corrected and carried to a counter. It is not a description of a file being downloaded.

Every MSW Code Inside The Seventy-Two Credit Structure

MSW is the programme code printed on your admission record and in the Common Prospectus. MSW and MSWE are the prefixes on the theory courses, MSWL is the prefix on the four field-work courses, MSWP is the prefix on the dissertation, MSWC is the separate Master of Social Work (Counselling) degree, and MSWOL is the online-mode variant listed among IGNOU’s online programmes. That resolves in one pass why a learner searching for MSW papers meets five different prefixes.

Section 3.31 of the IGNOU Common Prospectus for July 2026 places the programme in the School of Social Work, records the medium of instruction as English and Hindi, sets eligibility at a bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognised university, and notes that learners admitted from the January 2019 session onwards take the revised version, whose additions include Block Placement and Internship in the practical component. The credits sum as printed: thirty-six in each year gives the stated seventy-two.

First Year MSW Codes, Including The Two Electives You Choose

Three compulsory papers, two electives out of five, and sixteen credits of field work is thirty-six. Note that the elective row is where two first-year learners stop matching: one may hold MSW-003 and MSW-006 while another holds MSWE-010 and MSW-032, and the booklet publishes all five so that either can find a paper.

Second Year MSW Codes, And The Elective That Replaces A Paper

Four compulsory papers, one elective out of five, and sixteen credits of field work is the second thirty-six. The elective row carries the single most consequential choice on the programme for assignment purposes: MSWP-001 Dissertation is listed in the prospectus as one of the five options, and choosing it removes a written paper from your load entirely. The Second Year assignment booklet confirms this from the other direction by omitting MSWP-001 from its cover list while printing papers for the other four. One structural point matters when you go looking for your own paper. Five MSW theory codes are not exclusive to this degree. MSW-001, MSW-002, MSW-005, MSW-008 and MSW-009 are also the first-year course list of MSWC, the Master of Social Work (Counselling), which runs its own field-work block as MSWL-046, MSWL-047, MSWL-048 and MSWL-049 and reaches the same seventy-two credits by a different route. One course code therefore appears under two programme covers, which is exactly the trap described in the conflicts below. From Your MSW Code List To A Bound Handwritten Bundle

Five stages sit between your message and the courier. Each one exists because of a specific way a Social Work submission goes wrong, and the first two matter more on MSW than the writing does.

1. Field-work codes are separated out before anything is quoted. Any MSWL code in your list is set aside immediately and you are told why, rather than being quoted a rate for a paper that does not exist. If your list is entirely MSWL codes there is nothing to order, and saying so costs you nothing.
2. Each theory code is matched to the right programme cover. Because MSW-001, MSW-002, MSW-005, MSW-008 and MSW-009 appear under both the MSW and the MSWC covers for the same session, the programme on your admission record decides which paper is answered. Sending your programme code alongside your course codes is what prevents a correct answer to the wrong paper.
3. The thirteen answers are selected against the booklet’s own quotas. Two long answers, two of the four medium questions, four of the six 150-word notes and five of the eight 100-word notes. That is thirteen pieces of writing per paper, and the selection is settled before a page is filled so the paper’s own instruction is satisfied.
4. Answers are written from the Social Work blocks to the printed ceilings. A question on the charity organisation society, on generalist system theory or on the characteristics of self-help groups is answered out of the programme’s own units, because the counsellor marks against the block. Length follows the 600, 300, 150 and 100 word limits the paper prints.
5. A4 in blue or black, bound per code, cover sheet blank, couriered. One side of the sheet, red and green avoided because evaluators write in them, a clear left margin kept for comments, each answer opening on a new page as the booklet instructs. Matching The Hand Already On Your Field-Work Record

Send a photo of a page you have written yourself and the handwritten set is matched to your handwriting at no extra charge. One clearly photographed page of your ordinary writing, taken straight on in daylight, carries your slant, letter size and the way you join characters onto every page of the set.

On MSW the case is stronger than on a taught-only degree, and the reason is the field work. A Social Work learner is simultaneously producing practicum records, block placement reports and an internship file, all handwritten, all seen by a Field Work Supervisor at the same Study Centre, across two years and up to four years of registration. A theory bundle arriving in a visibly different hand from the practicum file sitting beside it is an inconsistency in a record that stays open. Locating Your Own MSW Paper When The Index Lags

The MSW question paper is free from IGNOU and should be taken from IGNOU, whoever ends up writing the pages. Four steps, and on this programme the third is the one that catches people.

1. Start at the university’s own download service. Open the IGNOU assignment download page or the assignment portal and navigate to the master’s listing. Typing a guessed address is what returns nothing, because MSW filenames have changed shape between spans. MSW file names have changed between spans and a guessed path returns nothing.
2. Open the MSW index and read what it actually offers. The index is laid out newest first, with a First Year and a Second Year link and an English and a Hindi column under each session heading. Both mediums are published for every listed year.
3. Do not stop when the index runs out. As at this review the MSW programme index ends at 2024-25, while the 2025-2026 First Year and Second Year papers are live on ignou.ac.in and reachable by searching the course code directly. An empty index row is not proof that your paper is unpublished. Search the code as well as reading the index, and confirm with your Regional Centre which span they will accept.
4. Read the cover before you answer anything. The first page names the programme, the year, the session span, the eight course codes the file covers and both submission dates. If the programme name on that cover is MSWC rather than MSW, you have the counselling paper, not yours.

Two Screens, One Enrolment Number, And A Long Wait

Handing the bundle over is not the end of it. Take the receipt at the counter and keep it, and keep a copy of the handwritten pages, because the evaluated paper is meant to come back to you with the counsellor’s marks and comments on it.

Three handovers stand between the counter and your record. Your Study Centre logs receipt, the counsellor’s mark travels to the Student Evaluation Division, and only then does a figure attach itself to that course code. Learners often check the wrong screen and conclude the worst. Receipt status and awarded marks live in separate places, and a code can show as received for weeks before any number appears beside it. An MSW course showing as incomplete has a distinctive cause on this programme. Because field work is assessed separately and carries thirty-two credits, the missing component is often a practicum or internship evaluation rather than a theory paper, and no amount of assignment writing will clear it.
