Quick answer. An IGNOU MAJY guess paper is a revision set of recurring questions with model answers for one MJY course code, prepared from IGNOU’s past term-end papers and the syllabus of the MA (Jyotish) programme run by the School of Humanities. The December 2026 term-end examination runs from 25 November 2026 to 13 January 2027 on IGNOU’s tentative date sheet, and the MAJY papers sit between MJY-001 on 25 November and MJY-008 on 11 December 2026. Every MJY paper reviewed, from June 2023 to June 2025, is a Hindi-medium, 3-hour, 100-mark paper with a 60-mark Section A of three 20-mark answers and a 40-mark Section B. The rate is ₹49 per subject code as a PDF or ₹100 per subject code as a printed copy, with a one-time ₹100 courier charge on a printed order; sets are prepared in the medium IGNOU examines each code in, confirmed on WhatsApp. No one outside IGNOU knows the questions, and no set claims otherwise.

MAJY Exam Dates in the December 2026 Term-End Examination

IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 date sheet opens the whole cycle with MJY-001 on Wednesday, 25 November 2026, in the evening slot, and closes the MAJY papers with MJY-008 on Friday, 11 December 2026, in the morning slot. The eight MJY papers therefore fall inside 17 days, although the cycle itself runs to 13 January 2027.

MAJY in the December 2026 cycle Tentative

First MAJY paperMJY-001 · Wed 25 Nov 20262 PM to 5 PM, per the sheet
Last MAJY paperMJY-008 · Fri 11 Dec 202610 AM to 1 PM, per the sheet

The pattern inside those 17 days is tidy. All four Year 1 codes (MJY-001 to MJY-004) sit in the evening slot on 25 November, 27 November, 30 November and 2 December; all four Year 2 codes (MJY-005 to MJY-008) sit in the morning slot on 4, 7, 9 and 11 December. No two MJY codes share a date, and none fall on consecutive days, so even a learner carrying all eight codes gets at least one clear day between papers. The full slot list is in the course table below and in the two IGNOU exam timings.

One caution matters more than usual this cycle. IGNOU has reissued the tentative sheet under the same file name: the copy dated 19 August 2026 asked for discrepancy reports by 29 August, and a later copy dated 21 September 2026 moved that deadline to 25 September. The MAJY dates on this page come from the IGNOU tentative date sheet PDF dated 19 August 2026, so check each MJY date against the current copy and against your hall ticket. The site’s December 2026 date sheet guide covers every programme, and the exam form fee is explained on the IGNOU exam fee page.

Why the MJY Term-End Paper Decides Most of Your Result

The term-end examination carries 70 per cent of the final course result and assignments carry the remaining 30 per cent. That split is IGNOU’s general rule for theory courses, printed in its 2025-26 assignment booklets such as the BHIC-109 Hindi assignment booklet; the MJY question papers themselves print no weightage line, so the MAJY Programme Guide or your Regional Centre remains the authority for your enrolment.

For a MAJY learner the arithmetic is blunt. Each MJY code is worth 8 credits, and a strong assignment cannot rescue a thin three-hour answer script. Three 20-mark answers carry 60 of the 100 TEE marks, so the Section A choices decide most of the paper. The IGNOU percentage calculator shows how the two components combine once both are on the grade card.

Guess Paper, Previous Year Paper or Solved Paper for MAJY

A guess paper is a revision set of important and recurring questions for one course code, such as MJY-007, with model answers, prepared by a publisher from past IGNOU papers and the syllabus; the terms important questions, expected questions and model paper describe the same kind of product. A previous year question paper is the actual paper IGNOU set in an earlier term-end examination, free on IGNOU’s archive. A solved question paper is that actual IGNOU paper with a publisher’s model answers added.

For MAJY the three are not interchangeable, because the archive is thin. MAJY is a young programme, and IGNOU’s archive holds only a handful of sessions for each MJY code, some of them in files whose Hindi text does not open as searchable text. A learner who wants the raw papers should start with them; a learner who wants the recurring themes gathered, answered in Hindi and trimmed to exam length is the one a guess paper serves. Solved versions of past papers across programmes sit on the IGNOU solved question papers page.

Built on MJY papers, not MA Sanskrit ones. Themes come from the MJY-001 to MJY-008 papers themselves, session by session.

Hindi answers, exam length. Model answers are written in Hindi to fit a 20-mark or 10-mark slot, not a block summary.

Section A first. Three 20-mark answers carry 60 marks, so long-answer themes lead each set.

Samhita themes that returned. MJY-007 sets open with daivajna lakshana and the samhitakaras, both seen in 3 of 3 papers.

Creation theories and skandhas. MJY-001 sets lead with the two themes seen in 3 of 4 papers.

Panchang basics in answer form. Tithi, vaar-krama and the sixteen samskaras are treated as full answers for MJY-003.

One code at a time. Order only the codes on your hall ticket, Year 1 or Year 2.

Targets December 2026. Each set is prepared for the upcoming cycle, not relabelled from 2025.

Two formats. A PDF on WhatsApp, or a printed booklet dispatched the next day after payment.

Section B covered too. Short 10-mark answers for definitions and concept notes sit after the long answers.

No accuracy promise. The set says what returned and how often, never what will come.

Free tools on this page. A date countdown and a minutes-per-answer checker, usable without ordering.

Paper Anatomy of the MJY Papers Reviewed

Every MJY paper reviewed from June 2023 to June 2025 prints 3 hours and 100 marks, splits into two compulsory sections, and asks for any three answers at 20 marks each in Section A (3 × 20 = 60), leaving 40 marks for Section B, which the MJY-001 and MJY-003 papers print as four 10-mark answers.

MJY paper anatomy by latest IGNOU paper reviewed

The time budget follows from those marks. Take 15 minutes off the 180 for reading the paper and choosing questions, and 165 minutes remain: about 33 minutes for each 20-mark Section A answer and about 16 minutes for each 10-mark Section B answer. Tool 2 below does the same arithmetic for any MJY code. MJY-004 (Kundali Nirman) is absent from the table because its format is confirmed against the latest IGNOU paper on WhatsApp.

Titles, Headers and Medium: Where IGNOU’s Own Documents Disagree

Five inconsistencies worth knowing before you buy anything for MAJY.

  • The programme name is printed three ways on the papers: as स्नातकोत्तर कला उपाधि (ज्योतिष) on the 2023 and 2024 webservices files, as एम.ए. (ज्योतिष) on the December 2024 MJY-001 paper, and with the word कार्यक्रम added on the June 2025 MJY-003 paper. All refer to the same MAJY programme.
  • The prospectus prints MJY-003 as पंचांग एवं मुहूर्त; the June 2025 paper spells it पञ्चाङ्ग एवं मुहूर्त. Same course, same code.
  • The December 2023 MJY-007 paper’s note speaks of two खण्ड, yet the first section is headed भाग-क.
  • The prospectus lists the medium as Hindi and Sanskrit combined; every MJY paper reviewed is a Hindi paper, and no English version of any MJY paper appears on IGNOU’s archive.
  • Within this publisher’s own estate, the store’s MAJY book category still claims a share of exam questions its books will cover, and an owned marketplace listing still names the June and December 2025 sessions and a fixed question count. Both are being corrected; the definitions and tables on this page govern.

Old sets built for 2025 do not become current by being relabelled. Check the session a set targets, and check the code on your hall ticket rather than a title on a cover.

What IGNOU’s MJY Papers Asked Between June 2023 and June 2025

In the three MJY-007 papers of June 2023, December 2023 and June 2024, daivajna lakshana, a question on two samhitas or samhitakaras, and a grahachara question on one planet each appeared in all three papers. In the four MJY-001 papers from June 2023 to December 2024, theories of creation and the skandha structure of Jyotish each appeared in three.

MJY-007 Samhita Jyotish: Three Themes in All Three Papers

Seen once each: dakargala (December 2023 Q1), the scope of the Brihatsamhita, utpata theory and vrikshayurveda (all June 2024). A theme seen once is recorded as seen once, not promoted to important. The papers are the MJY-007 June 2023 paper, the MJY-007 December 2023 paper and the MJY-007 June 2024 paper.

MJY-001 Indian Jyotish: Creation Theories and the Skandhas

The founding acharyas–Q4–Q22 of 4
Uses of Jyotish in education or societyQ2––Q32 of 4
Origin and chronological development–Q5–Q12 of 4

The MJY-001 assignment set for 2022-23 asked about the chronological development of Jyotish and its value to society, and both themes returned as Q1 and Q3 of the December 2024 MJY-001 term-end paper. The MJY-001 assignment for 2022-23 and the December 2024 MJY-001 paper show the overlap side by side, which is a reason to revise past assignment questions as exam material rather than filing them away.

The other MJY-001 papers are the June 2023 MJY-001 paper, the December 2023 MJY-001 paper and the June 2024 MJY-001 paper. Seen once each: Sanskrit vangmaya, the universe and the solar family, the concept of desh, water and environment in Jyotish, vrat-jap-daan for the grahas, and the principles of hora.

MJY-003 Panchang and Muhurta: Four Themes in Both Papers With Text

Two papers is a small base, and 2 of 2 means less than 3 of 3. The June 2023 MJY-003 paper and the June 2025 MJY-003 paper carry these themes; the June 2024 MJY-003 file shows its marks scheme, 3 × 20 = 60 and 4 × 10 = 40, but its Hindi text does not open as searchable text, so it adds format evidence and no themes.

How the Counts Were Made

The counts on this page come from 15 IGNOU MJY term-end papers across seven MJY codes, from June 2023 to June 2025, each reviewed by ignouproject.com on 26 September 2026 from IGNOU’s own archive files, with the themes counted from Section A, the 60-mark long-answer section. Matching is by topic, which is a human judgement: “daivajna lakshana” counts as one theme whether the paper asks for its meaning or its detailed discussion.

The theme tables above cover MJY-001, MJY-003 and MJY-007. For MJY-002, MJY-005, MJY-006 and MJY-008, one or two papers each confirm the format, including the June 2023 MJY-002 paper, the June 2024 MJY-005 paper, the June 2023 MJY-006 paper, the June 2023 MJY-008 paper and the June 2024 MJY-008 paper; for MJY-004 the format is confirmed against the latest IGNOU paper on WhatsApp. IGNOU’s June 2025 question paper index lists all eight MJY codes for that session.

The Layout Change in the June 2025 MJY-003 Paper

The June 2025 MJY-003 paper changed layout without changing its marks. The June 2023 MJY-003 paper numbered its Section A questions 1 to 5 and printed 3 × 20 = 60 on two pages; the June 2025 paper, serial C-2253, runs to three pages and puts Section A inside a single question 1 with lettered parts from (क) to (ङ), printed as 20 × 3 = 60. Three 20-mark answers are still required.

The December 2024 MJY-001 paper, serial C-2243, had already moved to three printed pages while keeping numbered questions, so the redesign reached different MJY codes at different times. A set built on the older layout still trains the right answer length; it only needs the numbering read carefully.

How a MAJY Revision Set Is Put Together

  1. Collect every MJY paper IGNOU has published for the code. The archive for a young programme is short, so each session counts.
  2. Record the format, session by session. Time, marks, the any-three rule and the Section B split set the answer lengths.
  3. Group the questions into themes. Daivajna lakshana in three wordings is one theme, counted three times, never three themes.
  4. Write model answers in Hindi to exam length. A 20-mark answer is planned for about 33 minutes of writing; a 10-mark answer for about 16.
  5. Check the code and session before release. Each set is labelled with its MJY code and the December 2026 cycle it targets.

What an MJY Guess Paper Can and Cannot Do

A guess paper is a revision aid built from past IGNOU question papers and the syllabus. No one outside IGNOU knows the questions in advance, and no claim is made that any question in this set will appear in your examination.

Where It Helps a MAJY Learner

It puts the MJY themes that already returned in front of you first, written as Hindi answers of the right length, with Section A given the most room. For MJY-007 that means daivajna lakshana, the samhitakaras and grahachara; for MJY-001, creation theories and the skandhas.

Where It Stops

It cannot predict the December 2026 paper, and 3 of 3 is a record of what happened, not a forecast. It does not replace the MJY blocks, which carry the shlokas, tables and calculations an examiner expects. And for MJY-004, MJY-005, MJY-006 and MJY-008, where one or two papers form the base, it leans on the syllabus more than on repetition.

Revise MAJY free first. The official MJY blocks are free on eGyankosh; the site’s eGyankosh guide and Gyankosh route guide explain how to reach them. Past MJY papers are free on IGNOU’s archive (links above). Short notes are on the IGNOU study notes page, and printed blocks can be traced through the IGNOU books download guide. A paid set makes sense only after those.

Where to Download Official MJY Papers and the Date Sheet

IGNOU keeps past papers in two places: the older webservices archive, arranged by session, school (SOH) and programme (MAJY), and the newer session pages on ignou.ac.in, where each session lists every course code with a download link. Newer MJY files carry a serial number such as C-2243 on page 1; always confirm the session printed on page 1 rather than trusting a file name, because one December 2024 MJY-001 file sits in a general downloads folder with no session in its path.

  1. Open the question paper page for the session. Search the list for MJY; all eight codes appear in the June 2025 index.
  2. Check page 1. Confirm the session, the MJY code and the Hindi title against your hall ticket.
  3. Keep the date sheet PDF too. The December 2026 sheet has been reissued once under the same name, so download the latest copy before planning.

A single past paper for many programmes is gathered on the IGNOU last year paper page, and the general IGNOU date sheet guide explains how the June and December sheets are issued.

Hall Ticket Before, Result and Revaluation After

The hall ticket is the final word on your MJY dates and centre. The site’s IGNOU hall ticket guide explains when it appears, the hall ticket download steps cover the enrolment-number route, and the exam centre page covers centre changes.

After the papers, results follow the cycle. The IGNOU result page covers term-end results in general, the June 2026 result page shows how the last cycle’s results were released, and assignment marks appear through the assignment result and grade card guide. A disputed MJY mark goes through IGNOU revaluation; the final grade card guide and the CGPA calculator help once all eight codes are complete.

What MAJY Learners Order Alongside a Guess Paper

The MAJY programme table lists eight theory courses and no project, dissertation or practical course, so the term-end papers are the whole external assessment. Alongside a guess paper, MAJY learners usually look at IGNOU solved assignments for the 30 per cent component, IGNOU help books for block-by-block revision, and guide books online when the printed blocks have not arrived. The IGNOU guess papers collection lists sets for every other programme.

Hindi Medium, Sanskrit and the December 2026 Session

Each set is prepared for the upcoming term-end examination, in every medium IGNOU examines that course in, and the medium for your course code is confirmed on WhatsApp before you pay.

Every MJY paper reviewed, from June 2023 to June 2025, is set in Hindi, and no English version of an MJY paper appears on IGNOU’s archive, so MAJY sets are prepared in Hindi and never offered in English. The July 2026 Common Prospectus lists the medium as Hindi and Sanskrit combined, and Sanskrit terms and shlokas appear inside the Hindi questions.

The sets on offer target the December 2026 cycle. A set labelled June or December 2025 is a past cycle’s set, whatever its cover says. Learners writing assignments in Hindi will find the format rules on the IGNOU assignment in Hindi page.

Ordering a MAJY Set: Steps, Prices and Dispatch

The rate is ₹49 per subject code for a solved guess paper as a PDF, or ₹100 per subject code as a printed copy. Printed copies carry a one-time courier charge of ₹100 per order, whatever the number of subject codes; the PDF has no courier charge. The PDF is shared on WhatsApp once payment is confirmed. A printed copy is dispatched the next day after payment is confirmed, and the courier details are shared on WhatsApp. No arrival date is promised, because transit time depends on the courier and your location. There is no minimum order: one subject or ten, same rate per format.

  1. Send your MJY codes on WhatsApp. Include PDF or printed, and your year.
  2. Confirm the medium and the cycle. The set is in Hindi, the only medium IGNOU sets MJY papers in, and it targets the December 2026 term-end examination rather than a past session.
  3. Pay the stated total. Four Year 1 codes as PDF come to ₹196; as printed copies, ₹400 plus the one-time ₹100 courier charge.
  4. Receive the PDF, or the dispatch details. Printed copies leave the next day after payment.
