Two Dates Decide Everything: 31 March And 30 September
These two dates are read off the live MSK Tutor Marked Assignment booklets for July 2025 and January 2026, not carried across from another IGNOU school. The School of Management Studies works to 31 October and 30 April; the School of Humanities, which owns MSK, does not.

The same booklet covers both sessions, which is why one MSK paper carries two cut-offs rather than a separate paper per cycle.
The booklets also carry a plain warning that under the university’s rules the assignment must be submitted before you sit the examination, or you will not be permitted to sit it. That is the only genuine urgency on this page, and it is IGNOU’s, not ours. Dates shift by session and sometimes by Regional Centre, so confirm yours on ignou.ac.in and with your Regional Centre before you post anything.
Thirty Marks Are Sitting In A Notebook You Have Not Opened
Each MSK handwritten assignment is marked out of 100 and the booklet says so on its own cover line. Assignments carry 30 per cent of the final course result and the term-end examination carries the remaining 70 per cent. For a 64-credit MA where every course is worth 8 credits, that share is not a rounding error; it is close to a third of every grade on the card.
MSK makes the handwritten work itself heavier than most programmes. The MSKE-009 booklet asks for roughly eight hundred words on a ten-mark question, which is well above the three-hundred-word habit learners bring from a general BA. The MSK-001 paper opens with three contextual explanations of Sanskrit verse at twenty marks each, which means shloka text copied accurately in Devanagari before any commentary begins. Copying verse by hand is slow, and it is unforgiving: a dropped matra changes the word. Assignment writing at that length is a scheduling problem before it is an academic one.
Learners who fall behind are usually not lazy. They are teachers taking the MA part-time, or Hindi-medium graduates who read Sanskrit comfortably but produce handwritten Devanagari slowly. The marks are lost to the deadline, not to the syllabus. Devanagari, written properly. Sanskrit verse, Hindi exposition and the conjuncts in between are written by hand in Devanagari across the whole handwritten assignment, not transliterated into roman and not typed and traced.

Question numbers preserved. Every handwritten answer opens with the question number exactly as the MSK booklet prints it, so the evaluator can map answer to question without hunting.
Word limits respected. The limit printed on your MSK paper governs the length, including the eight-hundred-word guidance on the elective booklets.
Order one paper or eight. There is no minimum order: one subject or fourteen, same rate, and the cost of a handwritten assignment does not change with the size of the order.

Every MSK Code, And The Four That Went Quiet
MSK is the programme code for Master of Arts (Sanskrit) in IGNOU’s Common Prospectus; MSK is also the course-code prefix printed on every MA Sanskrit assignment paper; MSKE is the prefix on the two elective papers; and MSKOL is the online-mode variant of the same degree. Those four labels describe one programme. The tables below separate that programme from two PG diplomas that borrow the same prefix.

Read together, those two tables carry twelve MSK course codes at 8 credits each. IGNOU’s own online-programme page for MA Sanskrit describes the degree as courses worth 64 credits, and 64 credits is exactly eight courses of 8 credits. Eight is also the number of MSK papers IGNOU published for July 2025 and January 2026. The four codes marked as carrying no paper in this cycle did have papers in July 2024 and January 2025. Read your own eight codes off your admission record and re-registration slip rather than off any code list, including this one.
MSK Codes That Are Not MA Sanskrit At All
Two School of Humanities PG diplomas issue their Tutor Marked Assignments against MSK-prefixed course codes. A learner who writes MSK-021 when they meant MSK-02, or MSK-031 when they meant MSK-03, has ordered a paper from a different programme. Both diplomas total 40 credits.

PGSKT is the Post Graduate Diploma in science within Sanskrit literature and PGDBD is the Post Graduate Diploma in Indian philosophy. Both sit in the School of Humanities alongside MA Sanskrit, which is why the prefix collides. If you are enrolled in a diploma rather than the MA, the ₹320 per subject rate and every other term on this page applies to your codes in exactly the same way.
Syllabus conflicts found while preparing this page, disclosed in full
- Code padding is inconsistent inside IGNOU’s own prospectus. The July 2026 Common Prospectus MSK table prints MSK-01 through MSK-08 with two digits but MSK-011 and MSK-012 with three, while the assignment portal prints every one of them with three digits. MSK-01 and MSK-001 are the same course.
- The elective codes are written three different ways. The prospectus prints them as MSK-E 09 and MSK-E 10, the assignment portal indexes them as MSKE-009 and MSKE-010, and the booklet cover of the first one prints MSKE-009 with a hyphen. All three refer to the same two elective papers.
- Two MSK booklets in the same cycle print the assignment code differently. The MSK-001 booklet prints its assignment code as MSK-001/TMA 2025-2026 with a space, while the MSKE-009 booklet prints MSKE-009/TMA/2025-2026 with a slash. Copy whichever form appears on the paper you actually downloaded.
- The prospectus MSK table prints no total-credits row. Every adjacent programme table in the same document does. Twelve listed codes at 8 credits each would total 96, while IGNOU’s online-programme page states 64 credits for the degree. Your admission record is the authority for which eight courses are yours.
- The online-mode index is years behind. IGNOU’s MSKOL assignment index has published nothing newer than July 2023 and January 2024, and lists only two codes. Online-mode learners should check the main MSK index and their Regional Centre before assuming a paper does not exist.
- A correction pending on this site. Our own page at the MMPC-001 subject page promises dispatch within seven working days of payment. That figure should not be there, because delivery depends on pin code, and it is queued for correction. No delivery figure is promised on this page.
From TMA Booklet To Foolscap Bundle
Five stages, in the order they actually happen. Nothing starts until your codes are confirmed, because the MSK prefix collision makes that the single most expensive mistake available.

Your codes are read back to you
You send the codes on your admission record. Each one is matched against the MA Sanskrit list, the PGSKT list and the PGDBD list, and the year it belongs to is confirmed with you in writing before any handwritten work begins. If a code you have sent carries no paper for the session you named, you hear that first, not after a handwritten set has been couriered.

The correct session paper is pulled
The Tutor Marked Assignment paper for that exact code and session is taken from IGNOU’s own assignment portal, and the marks split, the question count and the word limit printed on it govern the answers. MSK papers vary more than most: one booklet runs 60 plus 20 plus 10 plus 10, another runs two compulsory sections of 60 and 40.

Answers are drafted against the shastra, not paraphrased
Sanskrit verse quoted in the question is reproduced accurately in the handwritten answer before the commentary begins, and grammar answers name the sutra rather than gesturing at it. Where the booklet asks for a character sketch or a short note, the handwritten answer stays inside the marks allotted instead of spilling into the next one.

The handwritten set goes onto foolscap
The handwritten pages go down in blue or black pen on foolscap-size sheets, as the MSK booklet asks, with the question number opening every answer, a left margin the evaluator can write in, legible spacing between answers, and the sheets tied rather than loose. One course per handwritten bundle, never two subjects mixed together. Get the assignment cover page details right and the evaluator never has to guess whose work it is.

The handwritten bundle is checked, packed and couriered
Page count, question numbering, cover fields and code accuracy are checked against the booklet one last time, then the handwritten bundle is packed and couriered to your address. Courier is included in the ₹320 per subject; there is nothing further to pay on delivery.
Matching Your Own Devanagari Hand
Send a photo of a page you have written yourself and the handwritten set is matched to your handwriting at no extra charge. Writing an MSK handwritten assignment in your own handwriting matters more here than it does for a roman-script programme, because Devanagari handwriting varies sharply between writers: the slant of the shirorekha, how far conjuncts are stacked rather than split, whether the anusvara sits tight or loose above the line. A handwriting sample of your own Sanskrit or Hindi notes, photographed straight on in daylight, is enough to work from.
One page is plenty. Two is better if your Devanagari and your roman hand differ, since the cover page of the handwritten assignment carries your name and address in roman while the answers carry the shloka text. The whole set is then written in your own handwriting rather than in a house hand. There is no charge for this at any point, and it does not change the ₹320 per subject rate.

Where The Official MSK Question Papers Actually Live
Only IGNOU issues MSK Tutor Marked Assignment questions. Everything else on the internet, this page included, is a copy of what IGNOU published. Four steps get you to the original.
- Open the official assignment portal at ignou.ac.in student services and choose the Master’s Degree category.
- Pick MA (Sanskrit) / MSK. The index is grouped by session, newest at the top, and it shows which codes IGNOU has actually released rather than which codes exist.
- Match the session heading to your own registration. For the current cycle the heading reads July 2025 / January 2026, and the codes under it are the eight the university has published.
- Download the paper for each of your codes separately and read the marks split, the question count and the word limit off the paper itself before writing a line.
If a code you are registered in has no paper under the current heading, do not assume the requirement has gone away. Check the previous session’s heading, then ask your Regional Centre in writing. IGNOU has published papers late for MSK before, and the four Year Two codes without a current paper had one in the July 2024 and January 2025 cycle. The official MSK study material is free on the eGyanKosh repository, and where that route is slow, the alternate GyanKosh access route reaches the same blocks. The MSK syllabus for each code is set out in that study material block by block, which is what a handwritten answer should be built from. After The Bundle Leaves Your Hands
Hand the tied handwritten bundle to the Coordinator of your allotted Study Centre and take a receipt. The MSK booklet names the Coordinator specifically, and the receipt is the only proof you will have if the status never appears online. Keep a photocopy of your own handwritten answers as well; the booklet asks for that too.
Submission status usually appears against your enrolment number some weeks after the Study Centre forwards the bundle. Track the handwritten submission through the assignment marks status lookup, and when marks are posted they appear on the grade card rather than in a separate result. The assignment entries on the grade card are the authoritative record, and the grade card status check tells you whether the row has been updated yet. Once the term-end result is also declared, the final grade card consolidates both. MA learners can also watch the MA result announcements for the declaration itself.

What MSK Learners Add To The Same Message
A handwritten set is rarely the only thing an MA Sanskrit learner needs in March. The most common additions are reference answers and exam material for the same codes. A solved assignment PDF for the same code gives you a reference answer to read before you write your own handwritten answer, solved guess papers point at the likely term-end ground, and solved previous question papers show how MSK questions have actually been set. MA Sanskrit has no project course, so MSK learners do not need a dissertation. Learners who also hold a registration in a programme that does can read the synopsis and proposal format and browse the programme-wise project guides, with rates for that separate work listed on the services and charges page. A handwritten assignment for another programme follows exactly the same terms as an MSK handwritten assignment does: MAHD, the Hindi MA in the same school, MEG for English, MCOM for commerce and MBA for management.
Medium, script and session, in one place. The Common Prospectus gives Hindi as the medium of instruction for MSK, and adds that the examination may be answered in Sanskrit, Hindi or English provided a single medium is used throughout. MSK Handwritten Assignment Questions Learners Ask

The MSK assignment last date is printed on the booklet itself. The live MSK booklets give 31 March 2026 for the July 2025 session and 30 September 2026 for the January 2026 session, and that deadline is the one your Study Centre works to. These are School of Humanities dates and differ from the 31 October and 30 April dates used by the School of Management Studies. The Common Prospectus gives Hindi as the medium of instruction for MSK and states that the examination may be answered in Sanskrit, Hindi or English, with one medium used throughout. It sets that rule for the examination, so the safe move before starting assignment writing is to ask your Study Centre Coordinator in writing and keep the reply. From IGNOU’s own assignment portal under Master’s Degree, then MA (Sanskrit) / MSK. The index is grouped by session with the newest at the top, and each code links to its own PDF. Download one paper per code rather than relying on a summary, because the marks split differs between MSK booklets.
Those four appear in the Common Prospectus but carry no paper under the July 2025 and January 2026 heading, though they did have papers in the July 2024 and January 2025 cycle. Do not assume the requirement has lapsed. Check the previous session heading on the portal, then write to your Regional Centre and keep the reply. If a paper exists for the session you are registered in, the handwritten assignment can be prepared from it.
The MSK booklet instruction is explicit: write the question number before each answer and answer in your own handwriting. That is why an IGNOU MSK handwritten assignment exists as a service at all. Nothing on this page overrides an instruction printed on your own paper, so read it before deciding.
Practice varies by Regional Centre, and some accept a printed cover with handwritten answers behind it. The MSK booklet itself shows the cover fields as things you write: enrolment number, name, address, course name and code, assignment code, Study Centre name and code, and the date. Handwriting the cover of your handwritten assignment is the safer default, in the same hand as the answers behind it.
Assignment marks appear against your enrolment number on the grade card portal rather than as a separate result. Status usually updates some weeks after your Study Centre forwards the bundle. If the row is still blank well after that, the receipt you took at submission is what you produce to the Study Centre.
One handwritten assignment per course code you are registered in for that session. IGNOU’s online-programme page describes MA Sanskrit as courses worth 64 credits, and every MSK course is worth 8 credits, so eight courses across two years is the shape of the degree. Your admission record and re-registration slip name your exact codes.
Whatever your own booklet prints. The School of Humanities uses a two-year span, and the two MSK booklets read for this page are not even consistent with each other: MSK-001 prints MSK-001/TMA 2025-2026 with a space, MSKE-009 prints MSKE-009/TMA/2025-2026 with a slash. Copy the form on your paper rather than a form from another programme.
Ask for one and keep it. The MSK booklet names the Coordinator of your allotted Study Centre as the person to submit to, and the acknowledgement is your only proof of submission if the status never appears online. Keep a photocopy of your answers as well, which the booklet also asks for.
Yes. IGNOU’s own documents pad MSK codes inconsistently, and the same course appears as MSK-11 in some places and MSK-011 in others. The assignment portal uses three digits throughout. Write the form printed on the paper you downloaded and you will not go wrong.
MSKOL is the online-mode variant of the same MA Sanskrit degree and its assignment index has published nothing newer than July 2023 and January 2024, listing only two codes. In practice online-mode learners check the main MSK index. Confirm with your Regional Centre which paper applies to your registration before writing anything.
Yes. Any session is accepted, current cycle or older, including backlog courses, at the same ₹320 per subject. Tell us which session your registration falls in so the matching paper is used, because a paper from one cycle cannot be submitted against a registration in another.
Foolscap. The MSK instruction sheet says to use only foolscap-size sheets and to tie them properly, which differs from the A4 default most general guides repeat. Handwritten sets prepared here follow the booklet on this, tied and legible rather than loose.
The MSKE-009 booklet asks for roughly eight hundred words on a ten-mark question, which is longer than the convention learners bring from undergraduate programmes. Word limits are printed on the paper and those limits, not a general rule of thumb, govern the length of every handwritten answer.
No. MSK-021 to MSK-025 belong to PGSKT, the Post Graduate Diploma in science within Sanskrit literature, and MSK-031 to MSK-035 belong to PGDBD, the Post Graduate Diploma in Indian philosophy. Both are 40-credit School of Humanities diplomas that share the MSK prefix with the MA. The same ₹320 per subject rate and the same handwritten assignment terms apply either way.
