Eight MJY Codes, One Medium That Uses Two Languages
The July 2026 prospectus gives MAJY a single combined Hindi and Sanskrit medium, not a choice between the two; this page maps all eight MJY courses to their official blocks, their December 2026 dates and one complete course book each.
- 8 MJY course codes
- 64 credits, checked
- Hindi and Sanskrit combined
- First paper 25 Nov 2026
- Codes checked free
- Orders on WhatsApp
Send the MJY codes on your admission or re-registration record; each one is matched before anything is paid.
Quick answer. IGNOU MAJY books are the self-learning blocks IGNOU writes for the 8 MJY courses of its MA in Jyotish, posted in print and open to all on eGyanKosh. Anyone who opted for digital material while applying gets no printed parcel. The July 2026 Common Prospectus lists eight MJY courses of 8 credits each, four in each year, which adds up to its stated 64 credits and 240 official study hours per course, and it gives the medium as Hindi and Sanskrit combined. Beside those blocks, a complete course book is prepared for every MJY code in the same medium, holding the chapters, the latest previous years’ solved papers and the important questions and answers. Each course book costs ₹249 as a hard copy and ₹99 as a soft copy (PDF), and a learner orders only the course codes needed. A hard-copy order carries one fixed delivery charge of ₹100, however many books it contains. Every book order is placed on WhatsApp at +91 93546 37830.
MJY-001 Opens the December 2026 Examination: How Long Is Left?
MJY-001 is the first MA Jyotish paper of the December 2026 term-end examination, set by IGNOU’s tentative date sheet for Wednesday 25 November 2026, the opening day of the whole session. That is 60 days from 26 September 2026, when this page was last reviewed.
December 2026, MJY papers only
Year I: MJY-001 on 25 November, MJY-002 on 27 November, MJY-003 on 30 November and MJY-004 on 2 December.
Year II: MJY-005 on 4 December, MJY-006 on 7 December, MJY-007 on 9 December and MJY-008 on 11 December.
All eight MAJY papers fall inside the first seventeen days of a session that runs on to 13 January 2027. Year I leaves one free day between MJY-001 and MJY-002, which is the whole gap between the history of Jyotish and Siddhanta calculation. IGNOU revised the schedule on 21 September 2026 and still calls it tentative, so the date printed on your December hall ticket is the one to plan around. Other programmes’ codes sit in the December 2026 date sheet finder by course code, and the official file is IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 date sheet PDF. The window for reporting a date-sheet discrepancy closed on 25 September 2026.
Year II is spaced a little more evenly, with MJY-005 to MJY-008 falling two or three days apart between 4 and 11 December. A learner carrying a Year I backlog alongside Year II therefore sits papers across eighteen days, from 25 November to 11 December, and should plan the reading in that order rather than by year.
What Does 240 Hours Per MJY Course Mean Before 25 November?
An MJY course carries 8 credits, so at IGNOU’s rate of 30 study hours per credit it asks for 240 hours of reading, and the four Year I courses together ask for 960 hours. IGNOU’s Common Prospectus for July 2026 counts one credit as 30 hours of learner study, so a 4-credit course carries 120 hours and a 6-credit course 180 hours.
Work it through for a first-year learner who starts on 26 September at three hours a day. The 60 days to MJY-001 give 180 hours, which is three quarters of MJY-001 alone. Reading all four Year I courses once before 25 November would take 960 hours in 60 days, or 16 hours every day. Stretching to the last Year I paper on 2 December helps less than it seems: 67 days at three hours come to 201 hours against 960.
None of this makes the blocks optional. It makes the order decisive: MJY-001 first, then MJY-002, with revision material ready for the gaps between papers. A learner planning to stop after Year I with the PG Diploma the prospectus provides at 32 credits carries exactly the same 960 hours; the diploma removes the second year, not any of the first.
MJY-008’s fourth block on eGyanKosh, read on 26 September 2026, runs to a sixth unit on the twelfth house, and MJY-004’s fourth block, on the components that decide planetary strength, lists seven items. IGNOU issues printed study material either as a single book of blocks and units or as separate blocks for every course, on an average one block per credit, and a block usually comprises 3 to 5 units.
IGNOU’s Jyotish Blocks, a Revision Book or a Downloaded PDF: Where Should an MAJY Learner Start?
An MAJY learner starts with IGNOU’s own blocks for all 8 MJY courses, because each term-end paper is set on that material. Official study material, which IGNOU calls self-learning material or SLM, is the university’s course content for a code, issued in blocks of usually 3 to 5 units, posted in print unless digital material was chosen at admission, and open to everyone on eGyanKosh. A help book, also sold as a guide book, is a revision volume from an independent publisher that condenses one course for the examination; IGNOU neither writes nor endorses it. A free PDF counts as official only when the file comes from egyankosh.ac.in or the IGNOU e-Content app.
| Question | IGNOU’s MJY blocks | A help book | A free PDF |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who publishes it | IGNOU’s School of Humanities | A publisher outside IGNOU | IGNOU, when taken from eGyanKosh |
| What it costs | Covered by the programme fee | Priced by the publisher | Nothing on eGyanKosh |
| What it is for | Studying each course in full | Revising a course before its paper | Reading a block on a phone or computer |
| When it helps | From the day material is dispatched | Once the blocks have been read | While a printed set is still on its way |
| Does IGNOU examine from it | Yes, papers are set on it | No, it summarises the syllabus | Yes, when it is IGNOU’s own file |
| Where to get it | Posted to the learner by IGNOU | Ordered from the publisher | egyankosh.ac.in or the e-Content app |
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
Two unofficial sources circulate MJY files: a lookalike website whose address ends in .co.in instead of .ac.in, and scanned block images on a public archive labelled with a Regional Centre’s name. Neither is IGNOU’s repository, and neither can show which edition it holds. The free IGNOU books download guide explains where IGNOU’s own files sit, and every MJY course opens from the Master of Arts (Jyotish) collection on eGyanKosh. Official study material is linked here only at egyankosh.ac.in, and this page does not host or redistribute IGNOU’s files.
Anyone choosing an MJY revision book, from this publisher or another, can run four checks first. The codes printed on it should read MJY-001 to MJY-008; a cover that says MAJY-007 names the same course loosely and suggests the rest was copied rather than checked. The language should follow the programme’s Hindi and Sanskrit medium. The titles should match the prospectus, including काल in MJY-002, not the कला that appears on one IGNOU web page. And a book that promises marks or names the questions to be asked is promising what no publisher can know. The site’s overview of IGNOU help books, its note on how guide books differ from official blocks and its shorter IGNOU study notes cover the wider category.
Inside One MJY Complete Course Book
Every MJY code gets its own revision volume, and the twelve cards below say what that means for a Jyotish learner.
One code, one book. A learner repeating only MJY-006 orders that single book, not a Year II set of four.
Chapters for one course. The MJY-003 Panchang and Muhurta chapters stay in their own volume and never mix with MJY-004 Kundali work.
Latest solved papers. The latest previous years’ solved papers for the code show how an MJY question is worded and how far an answer is expected to go.
Important answers. The important questions and answers for the course sit in the same book, ready for the single free day between MJY-001 and MJY-002.
Same medium as the blocks. Every MJY book follows the Hindi and Sanskrit medium the prospectus lists, so its terms match the blocks IGNOU sends.
Year I or Year II. The four Year I codes and the four Year II codes are ordered separately, so a first-year learner never pays for second-year books.
Any form of the code. MJY-01, MJY-001, MJY001 and the looser MAJY-007 all reach the right book once the code is checked on WhatsApp.
Checked before payment. Codes are matched to the eight MAJY courses first, so an MVS code from the Vastu diploma is caught before any money moves.
Soft copy on WhatsApp. The ₹99 soft copy arrives on the same phone that already holds the eGyanKosh blocks, once the order is confirmed.
Hard copy by courier. The ₹249 hard copy, with ₹100 delivery on the whole order, is dispatched the next day, and the tracking ID follows on WhatsApp.
One delivery charge. All four Year I books in hard copy carry one ₹100 delivery charge between them, not four.
After the blocks, not instead. The book is for revising MJY material already read, not for replacing it.

Order the Four Year I MJY BooksAsk About a Single MJY PaperThe Eight MJY Codes, Their eGyanKosh Collections and Their Paper Dates
The July 2026 Common Prospectus lists eight MAJY codes, MJY-001 to MJY-008, each worth 8 credits and 240 official study hours, and together they add up to the 64 credits the prospectus states. The table gives each code’s prospectus title with an English gloss, the spelling eGyanKosh uses, its collection and its December 2026 paper date.

Slide the code table left for the collection, paper date and book columns.
Titles appear as section 3.11 of the prospectus prints them once its legacy Hindi font is decoded, with an English gloss, because assignments and examination forms use IGNOU’s wording. The Year I courses sit in the First Year MJY collection and the Year II courses in the Second Year MJY collection, both read on 26 September 2026. Paper dates follow IGNOU’s tentative date sheet for December 2026.
The prospectus column is the one to copy onto an assignment front page or an examination form. The eGyanKosh column exists so that a learner searching the repository recognises the course even when its title is spelled पञ्चांग instead of पंचांग or कुंडली instead of कुण्डली; it is not a second official title.
Where IGNOU’s MAJY documents disagree, this publisher included
Medium. The prospectus lists Hindi & Sanskrit in its summary table and हिंदी संस्कृत संयुक्त, combined, in section 3.11; IGNOU’s MAJY programme page gives Hindi alone, and Regional Centre download lists print Hindi/Sanskrit. Books follow the prospectus.
Titles on ignou.ac.in. The programme page prints MJY-002 as सिद्धांत ज्योतिष एवं कला, where the prospectus has काल, time, and it spells MJY-005 as ज्योतिविज्ञान and MJY-007 as सहिंता ज्योतिष.
Titles on eGyanKosh. Five collections spell their titles differently from the prospectus, as the eGyanKosh column of the table shows.
The digital prospectus. Section 3.11 prints the MJY titles in a legacy Hindi font, so text copied from the PDF comes out as Latin letters, for example Qy fopkj for फल विचार.
Status link. The prospectus names www.ignou.ac.in/pages/179#StudyMaterialStatus for dispatch status, while the ignou.ac.in footer links a different Study Material Status page.
Names. Several websites call the programme MA Astrology and label its courses MAJY-001 to MAJY-008; IGNOU’s own name is Master of Arts (Jyotish), and its course codes begin MJY.
This publisher. Older product listings from this publisher describe the MJY books as Hindi medium only; this page follows the prospectus wording, Hindi and Sanskrit.
First Year or Second Year: Which Four MJY Books Does Your Stage Need?
MAJY is examined year by year, so its books group by year: MJY-001 to MJY-004 in Year I and MJY-005 to MJY-008 in Year II, all compulsory. The complete course book covers one course code with its chapters, the latest previous years’ solved papers and the important questions and answers; the semester-wise Last Minute Exam Guide covers a whole semester at ₹249 with the important questions and answers only. MAJY has no semester pages, and this page lists complete course books only.
Year I: MJY-001, MJY-002, MJY-003 and MJY-004
If your admission record is for the first year, all four codes apply, because the prospectus prints no electives for MAJY. If you already intend to stop after Year I, the same four books serve the PG Diploma exit, since those four courses are the 32 credits it asks for. If some of the four were cleared in an earlier session, order only the codes still to be written. And if your record shows any code outside MJY-001 to MJY-004 for Year I, send it on WhatsApp before ordering, because it is not an MAJY first-year course. Four hard copies come to 4 × ₹249 + ₹100 = ₹1,096; four soft copies to 4 × ₹99 = ₹396.
Year II: MJY-005, MJY-006, MJY-007 and MJY-008
If you have re-registered for the second year, read the four codes off your Year II re-registration record rather than a third-party list. If a Year I paper is still to be cleared, remember that it sits between 25 November and 2 December while Year II runs from 4 to 11 December, so a backlog MJY-003 and a current MJY-005 fall four days apart. If you need only one Year II paper, one hard copy is ₹249 + ₹100 = ₹349, and one soft copy is ₹99. Otherwise the full Year II set costs the same as Year I: ₹1,096 printed or ₹396 as PDFs.
MJY Parcel Missing? IGNOU’s Route, Step by Step
Missing MJY blocks are traced through 4 official steps: the dispatch status page, the MPDD address, eGyanKosh while waiting, and IGNOU’s grievance portal if nothing moves.
- Check dispatch on IGNOU’s study material status page with your enrolment number; where to find your enrolment number explains where it is printed. The dispatch status of printed material is checked on the official study material status page linked from ignou.ac.in.
- If the MJY parcel shows as sent and has not arrived, write to MPDD. Non-receipt of printed study material is taken up with the Registrar, Material Production and Distribution Division (MPDD), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi 110068, at mpdd@ignou.ac.in. The telephone numbers are 011-29572008 and 29572012.
- Read the same blocks on eGyanKosh in the meantime. eGyanKosh, at egyankosh.ac.in, is IGNOU’s free digital repository of self-learning material. The July 2026 prospectus says eGyanKosh holds the self-learning material of over 3923 courses across 384 programmes, and the IGNOU e-Content app serves the same digitised files. The site explains how eGyanKosh is organised and offers a Gyankosh search walkthrough.
- Take a complaint that goes unanswered to IGNOU’s iGRAM grievance portal.
A learner who opts for the soft copy of the self-learning material in the online admission form receives a 15 per cent concession on the programme fee and is not sent printed material. No IGNOU document gives a dispatch period for printed blocks, so none appears here. The question MA Jyotish learners have asked most often on forums since 2022 is when the second-year material will come. eGyanKosh dates 99 of its MAJY files to 2021 and 96 to 2023, the second-year collections carry the later handle numbers, and all four Year II courses are on eGyanKosh now.
Hindi, Sanskrit or Both: What the MAJY Medium Actually Means
The medium of instruction for MAJY is Hindi and Sanskrit together: section 3.11 of the July 2026 Common Prospectus writes it as हिंदी संस्कृत संयुक्त, and its summary table lists Hindi & Sanskrit. It is one medium that uses both languages, not two media to choose between.
Myth: MAJY can be studied in English. Fact: Neither the prospectus nor IGNOU’s programme page lists English, and every MJY collection on eGyanKosh is titled in Devanagari.
Myth: Hindi-medium and Sanskrit-medium learners receive different blocks. Fact: IGNOU issues one set of MJY blocks for the programme’s combined medium, and Regional Centre lists point to the same MA Jyotish collection under Hindi/Sanskrit.
Myth: MAJY and the Vastu diploma share courses. Fact: MAJY is IGNOU’s two-year Master of Arts (Jyotish) in the School of Humanities, introduced in 2021, and its courses carry MJY codes; the PG Diploma in Vastu Shastra, PGDVS, is a separate programme with its own MVS codes.
Myth: MJY-01 and MJY-001 are different courses. Fact: They are one course; the prospectus and eGyanKosh write MJY-001, and the December date sheet writes MJY001.
The complete course book is prepared in each medium IGNOU offers for the programme, and your medium is confirmed with your course codes on WhatsApp. For MAJY that is the single Hindi and Sanskrit medium, and each MJY book follows the eight-code list of the July 2026 prospectus.
Two Free Planners Built Around the MAJY Calendar
The first planner turns a year, the PG Diploma exit or any list of MJY codes into study hours, days to the first paper and book totals; the second checks one code’s titles, collection and date and gives IGNOU’s route for a stated problem. Neither planner needs an enrolment number, and nothing typed into them is stored.

Already reading MJY blocks on your phone? Take the course books the same way
₹249 per book hard copy, ₹99 per book soft copy; ₹100 delivery per hard-copy order
Take the MJY Soft Copies on WhatsAppPDF at ₹99 or Print at ₹249: Matching the Format to Your MAJY Situation
A soft copy costs ₹99 per MJY book with no delivery charge, and a hard copy costs ₹249 per book with a single ₹100 delivery charge on the whole order. Which suits you depends on where you stand in the programme.
| Your situation | Format that fits | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| First paper on 25 November and only a phone to study on | Soft copy, sent on WhatsApp | 4 × ₹99 = ₹396 for Year I |
| Working Panchang and Kundali calculations by hand on paper | Hard copy, dispatched the next day | 4 × ₹249 + ₹100 = ₹1,096 for Year I |
| Repeating one paper, such as MJY-006 | Either format | ₹99, or ₹249 + ₹100 = ₹349 |
| Taking both years in one order | Hard copy in a single order, or soft copy | ₹2,092 hard, ₹792 soft for all eight |
| Leaving after Year I with the PG Diploma | Either format, Year I codes only | ₹1,096 hard or ₹396 soft |
Move the format table sideways to read each cost in full.
Soft copy, ₹99 per book
Fits a learner who reads the MJY blocks on eGyanKosh already and wants revision on the same screen. The soft copy is sent on WhatsApp after the order is confirmed.
Hard copy, ₹249 per book plus ₹100 per order
Fits a learner who marks up tithi tables and chart workings by hand and wants a printed set to keep. The hard copy is dispatched by courier the next day, and the courier details with the tracking ID are sent to you on WhatsApp. No delivery date is promised on this page.
Splitting one hard-copy order into two means paying the ₹100 twice, so a learner who knows both years’ codes saves by ordering them together.
Where MJY Assignment Sets, Past Papers and Guess Papers Live on This Site
Each of these has its own page on the site. The MAJY handwritten assignment service for MJY codes prepares the written sets, reference answers sit in the catalogue of IGNOU solved assignments, and marks and submission checks are on IGNOU assignment status and marks. IGNOU’s own papers are in the IGNOU previous question paper archive, while last year’s papers listed by code, solved papers from past sessions and solved guess papers by course are revision aids. The general rules for handwritten IGNOU assignments apply to MJY booklets as well, and marks convert with the IGNOU percentage calculator or the IGNOU CGPA calculator.
Project, Synopsis and Other Questions That Belong on Other Pages
MAJY carries no project course in the July 2026 table, so project and synopsis questions do not arise for its books; learners on other programmes find IGNOU project reports by programme and synopsis and proposal formats on their own pages.
Placing an MJY Book Order on WhatsApp, Start to Tracking
Ordering an MJY book takes four WhatsApp steps at most, and payment comes only after the codes have been matched.
- Send the MJY codes from your admission or re-registration record, in any form, and say whether you want hard copy or soft copy.
- Your course codes are checked free before any payment, so a book that does not match your registration is not sold to you.
- Pay the confirmed total: books × ₹249 + ₹100 for hard copy, or books × ₹99 for soft copy.
- Watch WhatsApp: the soft copy lands there, and so do the courier name and tracking ID for a hard copy.
Rates for the site’s other services are on the full list of service charges, and the publisher itself is described on the Shri Chakradhar Publication books page.
Sources Behind This MAJY Page and When They Were Read
Four kinds of source stand behind this page, and they are kept apart. The course list, credits, medium, the PG Diploma exit and the study-material rules come from section 3.11, the summary list of programmes and sections 14.13 and 14.14 of the July 2026 Common Prospectus, summarised on the July 2026 IGNOU prospectus page. Collections, block titles and spellings were read on eGyanKosh on 26 September 2026, alongside IGNOU’s MAJY programme page, the Regional Centre study-material lists and IGNOU’s tentative December 2026 date sheet. MAJY has no semester books page, so no counted book contents are quoted. The publisher’s commercial terms supply the rest: prices, the two formats, the free code check and next-day dispatch.
Anyone who spots an error can report it on WhatsApp at +91 93546 37830, and the About ignouproject.com page explains who runs the site.
MAJY Book Questions, Answered
IGNOU MAJY books come from IGNOU: the printed MJY blocks are posted after admission, and all eight courses are free to read on eGyanKosh. A learner who chose digital material at admission receives no printed set and reads the same blocks on eGyanKosh or in the IGNOU e-Content app. Separately, a complete course book for each MJY code is ordered on WhatsApp at +91 93546 37830.
The second-year MAJY material is already on eGyanKosh, where MJY-005, MJY-006, MJY-007 and MJY-008 each have their own collection. Printed Year II blocks follow re-registration, and IGNOU publishes no delivery period for them. The dispatch status page on ignou.ac.in shows whether the set has left, and MPDD at mpdd@ignou.ac.in takes up a set that shows as sent but has not arrived.
IGNOU MA Jyotish is taught in Hindi and Sanskrit together, not in English, according to the July 2026 Common Prospectus. Section 3.11 writes the medium as हिंदी संस्कृत संयुक्त. IGNOU’s programme page gives Hindi alone, and no IGNOU document lists English. The MJY course books follow the prospectus medium.
Yes, IGNOU’s own MJY blocks can be downloaded at no cost from eGyanKosh, the university’s digital repository, one block or unit at a time. Lookalike websites and scanned uploads elsewhere are not IGNOU’s repository, and nobody can check which edition they hold. The complete course book sold here is a paid publication, and its ₹99 soft copy is delivered after an order is confirmed.
Check the IGNOU study material status page with your enrolment number first, then write to MPDD at mpdd@ignou.ac.in if the MJY set shows as sent. MPDD is the Material Production and Distribution Division at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, reachable on 011-29572008. While the complaint runs, all eight MJY courses can be read on eGyanKosh.
IGNOU MAJY has eight courses, MJY-001 to MJY-008, each worth 8 credits, which makes the 64 credits the July 2026 prospectus states. Four courses belong to Year I and four to Year II, and all eight are compulsory. The programme table carries no elective and no project course.
MAJY first year needs four books, one for each Year I code: MJY-001, MJY-002, MJY-003 and MJY-004. All four are examined between 25 November and 2 December 2026 in IGNOU’s tentative date sheet. As complete course books, the four cost ₹1,096 in hard copy with delivery, or ₹396 as soft copies.
An IGNOU MAJY complete course book costs ₹249 as a hard copy or ₹99 as a soft copy, and the price is per MJY code. A hard-copy order adds one ₹100 delivery charge however many books it holds, so two hard copies cost ₹598. Soft copies carry no delivery charge.
Yes, MAJY-007 on some websites and MJY-007 are the same course, Samhita Jyotish, and IGNOU’s own code is MJY-007. MAJY is the programme code and MJY the course prefix. The December 2026 date sheet writes the code without a hyphen, as MJY007, and all three forms lead to the same book.
Yes, websites that say MA Astrology mean IGNOU’s Master of Arts in Jyotish, programme code MAJY, run by the School of Humanities. IGNOU’s own documents use the word Jyotish throughout. The programme was introduced in 2021 and runs for a minimum of two years and a maximum of four.
Yes, the July 2026 prospectus provides a PG Diploma for a learner who completes the 32 Year I credits and chooses to leave during Year II. Those 32 credits are the four Year I courses, MJY-001 to MJY-004. A learner taking that exit needs those four books and no others.
The MJY papers in December 2026 run from MJY-001 on Wednesday 25 November to MJY-008 on Friday 11 December, according to IGNOU’s tentative date sheet. Year I sits on 25, 27 and 30 November and 2 December; Year II on 4, 7, 9 and 11 December. IGNOU revised the sheet on 21 September 2026 and still marks it tentative, so the hall ticket date governs.
No, a help book is not enough on its own, because IGNOU sets each MJY paper on its own blocks. What a complete course book adds is one course’s chapters, recent solved papers and important answers in a single place, next to those blocks. Its job is the week before a paper, after the blocks have been read.
Each MJY complete course book holds one course’s chapters, the latest previous years’ solved papers and the important questions and answers. One book covers one code, so a learner with only MJY-008 left buys that book alone. It is prepared in the programme’s Hindi and Sanskrit medium.
Hard copies of MJY books leave by courier on the day after the order is confirmed, and WhatsApp carries the courier name and tracking ID. No delivery date is promised. The ₹100 delivery charge covers the whole hard-copy order, and a soft copy comes over WhatsApp instead of by courier.
No single MJY help book suits every learner, so the useful step is checking any book against IGNOU’s codes, titles and medium before buying. The codes should run MJY-001 to MJY-008, the medium should be Hindi and Sanskrit, the MJY-002 title should read काल, and the book should make no promise about marks or questions.
Read for MJY-001 first, because it is the first MAJY paper of the December 2026 session, on Wednesday 25 November. MJY-002 follows on 27 November, MJY-003 on 30 November and MJY-004 on 2 December, so Year I reading runs in code order. Year II follows the same pattern, from MJY-005 on 4 December to MJY-008 on 11 December.
MJY titles differ because three IGNOU sources spell them three ways: the prospectus, the eGyanKosh collections and the ignou.ac.in programme page. The largest difference is MJY-002, which the programme page prints as कला, art, instead of काल, time. For assignments and examination forms, use the prospectus title.
