Twelve Codes Belong to MA Sanskrit. Ten More Only Share the Prefix.
The July 2026 prospectus uses MSK for the MA, for the PGSKT diploma and for the PGDBD diploma; this page maps the twelve MA codes to their official blocks, their December 2026 dates and one complete course book each.
- 12 MA Sanskrit codes
- 8 credits per course
- Hindi medium
- Exam in Sanskrit, Hindi or English
- Codes checked free
- Orders on WhatsApp
Send the codes on your admission record; each one is matched to the MA Sanskrit list before any payment.
Quick answer. IGNOU MSK books are the official Hindi-medium self-learning blocks of the Master of Arts in Sanskrit, printed and posted by IGNOU and free to read on eGyanKosh. A learner who chose digital material at admission receives no printed set. The July 2026 Common Prospectus lists twelve MSK courses of 8 credits each, five in Year I and seven in Year II, which is 240 hours of official study per course; it prints no programme total, and IGNOU’s page for the online MSKOL variant states 64 credits. Beside the blocks, a complete course book is prepared for every MA Sanskrit code in Hindi medium, holding the chapters, the latest previous years’ solved papers and the important questions and answers. Each course book costs ₹249 as a hard copy and ₹99 as a soft copy (PDF), and a learner orders only the course codes needed. A hard-copy order carries one fixed delivery charge of ₹100, however many books it contains. Every book order is placed on WhatsApp at +91 93546 37830.
When Does the First MSK Paper Fall in December 2026?
The first MSK paper of the December 2026 term-end examination is MSK-001, set for Wednesday 2 December 2026 in IGNOU’s tentative date sheet dated 21 September 2026. That is 68 days from 25 September 2026, the day this page was last reviewed.
December 2026, MA Sanskrit papers only
Year I: MSK-001 on 2 December, MSK-002 on 3 December, MSK-003 on 4 December, MSK-005 on 5 December and MSK-011 on 10 December.
Year II: MSK-012 on 12 December, MSKE-009 on 15 December, MSKE-010 on 17 December, MSK-004 on 21 December, MSK-006 on 23 December, MSK-007 on 29 December and MSK-008 on 31 December.
Four Year I papers fall on four consecutive days. A first-year learner therefore has no gap between MSK-001 and MSK-005 to read a block for the next morning; whatever reading those courses need has to be finished before 2 December. The whole examination window runs from 25 November 2026 to 13 January 2027, and IGNOU marks the schedule tentative, so the date printed on the December hall ticket is the one to plan around. Each code can be looked up in the code-by-code December 2026 date sheet finder, and the official file is IGNOU’s tentative date sheet PDF. IGNOU closed its window for reporting date-sheet discrepancies on 25 September 2026.
How Many Study Hours Do Twelve 8-Credit MSK Courses Carry?
Every MA Sanskrit course carries 8 credits, so at IGNOU’s rate of 30 study hours per credit each MSK course asks for 240 hours of reading, and the five Year I courses together ask for 1,200 hours. IGNOU’s Common Prospectus for July 2026 counts one credit as 30 hours of learner study, so a 4-credit course carries 120 hours and a 6-credit course 180 hours.
| Group | Codes | Credits | Official hours | Days at 3 hours a day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One MSK course | Any one code | 8 | 240 | 80 |
| Year I | 5 codes | 40 | 1,200 | 400 |
| Year II as the prospectus lists it | 7 codes | 56 | 1,680 | 560 |
| All twelve listed codes | 12 codes | 96 | 2,880 | 960 |
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
The last row adds up what the course list prints, not what IGNOU requires for the degree. Section 3.10 of the prospectus gives no MSK total at all, while IGNOU’s page for the online MSKOL variant puts the programme at 64 credits, which is eight courses. A learner reads the codes on the admission and re-registration records, not the arithmetic of the full list.
MSK-002 Vyakaran runs through seven blocks on eGyanKosh, from Subant Prakaran to Taddhit Prakaran, read on 25 September 2026, one block short of the prospectus average for its 8 credits. IGNOU issues printed study material either as a single book of blocks and units or as separate blocks for every course, on an average one block per credit, and a block usually comprises 3 to 5 units. MSKE-010, the philosophy elective, reaches its eighth block, on the remaining categories of Nyaya, at unit 29. Three hours a day for 68 days is 204 hours, which is less than one MSK course.
Official Sanskrit Blocks, a Help Book or a Free PDF: Which Comes First for MSK?
For all 12 MA Sanskrit courses the official MSK blocks come first, because IGNOU sets the examination on its own self-learning material. Official study material, or self-learning material (SLM), is IGNOU’s own course content issued in blocks that usually hold 3 to 5 units each, printed and posted unless the learner chose digital at admission, and free to everyone on eGyanKosh. A help book, also called a guide book, is an independent publisher’s revision volume that condenses a course for the term-end examination; it is not an IGNOU publication. A free PDF is legitimate only when it is IGNOU’s own file from egyankosh.ac.in or the e-Content app.
| Question | Official MSK blocks | Help book | Free PDF |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who publishes it | IGNOU, School of Humanities | An independent publisher | IGNOU, when taken from eGyanKosh |
| What it costs | Included in the programme fee | Set by the publisher | Nothing on eGyanKosh |
| What it is for | Learning the course in full | Revising for the term-end paper | Reading the blocks on a screen |
| When it helps | From admission onward | After the blocks are read | Before the parcel arrives |
| Does IGNOU examine from it | Yes, it is the syllabus | No, it follows the syllabus | Yes, when it is IGNOU’s own file |
| Where to get it | Posted by IGNOU | From the publisher | egyankosh.ac.in or the e-Content app |
Drag the comparison left to reach the free PDF column.
Sites offering a single combined “MSK book PDF” are stitching IGNOU’s units together, and nobody can confirm which edition went in. The free IGNOU books download guide explains where IGNOU’s own files sit, and every MA Sanskrit collection opens from egyankosh.ac.in. Official study material is linked here only at egyankosh.ac.in, and this page does not host or redistribute IGNOU’s files.
Before buying a revision book for MSK from anyone, run four checks. The codes printed on it should be MA Sanskrit codes such as MSK-002 and MSKE-009, not MSK-021 or MSK-031, which belong to two diplomas. The medium should be Hindi. The edition should follow the July 2026 course list, including MSK-011 and MSK-012. And a book that promises marks or names the questions to be set is promising something no publisher can know. The site’s IGNOU help books overview and its note on how guide books differ from the blocks cover the category, and short IGNOU study notes are a separate, shorter format.
What One Complete MSK Course Book Holds
Each MA Sanskrit code gets a single-code revision volume, and the twelve cards below show what that means for a Sanskrit learner.
One code, one book. An MSK learner who is repeating only MSK-007 orders that one book, not a Year II set of seven.
Chapters by course. Each book keeps to one MSK course, so the MSK-002 grammar chapters never mix with MSK-003 philosophy.
Latest solved papers. The latest previous years’ solved papers for the code show how an MSK question is framed and how long an answer runs.
Important answers. The important questions and answers for the course sit in the same volume, ready for the days between two papers.
Hindi medium. Every MSK book is prepared in Hindi, the one medium IGNOU lists for MA Sanskrit, to sit beside Hindi blocks.
Your elective only. A Year II learner registered in MSKE-009 orders that elective and leaves MSKE-010 out, and the reverse.
Any spelling of the code. MSK-01, MSK-001 and MSK01 are one course, and the code check on WhatsApp settles which book is meant.
Checked before payment. Codes are matched to the MA Sanskrit list first, so a PGSKT or PGDBD code is caught before any money moves.
Soft copy on WhatsApp. The ₹99 soft copy reaches the phone the learner already uses for IGNOU updates, once the order is confirmed.
Hard copy by courier. The ₹249 hard copy leaves the next day, and the tracking ID arrives on WhatsApp.
One delivery charge. Five Year I books in hard copy still carry a single ₹100 delivery charge, not five.
Beside the blocks. The book is revision material for after the IGNOU blocks are read, not a substitute for them.
Five Year I codes, five books, one delivery charge
₹249 per book hard copy, ₹99 per book soft copy; ₹100 delivery per hard-copy order

Slide the code map sideways for the paper date and book columns.
Titles are given as section 3.10 of the prospectus prints them, with an English gloss, because assignments and examination forms use IGNOU’s wording. Paper dates come from the tentative date sheet dated 21 September 2026, and collections were read on eGyanKosh on 25 September 2026.
Where IGNOU’s MSK documents disagree, this site included
Credit total. The prospectus lists 96 credits of MSK courses and prints no programme total; IGNOU’s MSKOL page states 64 credits.
Codes in use. The assignment page for July 2025 and January 2026 lists eight codes, without MSK-004, MSK-006, MSK-007 and MSK-008, yet the 21 September 2026 date sheet schedules all twelve.
Medium. The prospectus gives Hindi as the only medium; IGNOU’s MSK programme page says Hindi/Sanskrit. Books are offered in Hindi, the medium the prospectus lists.
Titles. eGyanKosh titles MSK-003 with संख्या for सांख्य and drops वैशेषिक, files MSK-005 as MSK-05, reads नायसूत्र in the MSKE-010 title, and gives MSK-006 as भाषा विज्ञान, अनुवाद एवं निबंध लेखन where the prospectus prints विज्ञान, भाषा, अनुवाद एवं निबंध लेखन.
Prefix. MSK-021 to MSK-025 are the PGSKT diploma and MSK-031 to MSK-035 the PGDBD diploma, and IGNOU’s MSK page lists MSK-021 beside the MA courses.
On this site. The site’s own MSK handwritten assignment page is titled around eight live codes. That matches the current assignment cycle, not the twelve codes the prospectus and date sheet carry.
Year I and Year II: Which MSK Books Does Each Year Need?
MSK is examined year by year, so its books are grouped by year rather than by semester: five codes in Year I, up to seven in Year II. The complete course book covers one course code with its chapters, the latest previous years’ solved papers and the important questions and answers; the semester-wise Last Minute Exam Guide covers a whole semester at ₹249 with the important questions and answers only. MA Sanskrit has no semester pages, and this page lists complete course books only.
Year I: MSK-001, MSK-002, MSK-003, MSK-005 and MSK-011
- Match the five codes against the admission record; all five are compulsory in the prospectus table.
- Order the reading by paper date: MSK-001, MSK-002, MSK-003 and MSK-005 fall on 2 to 5 December, and MSK-011 follows on 10 December.
- Read MSK-002 early; its seven grammar blocks, Subant to Taddhit, build on one another and do not compress well in the last week.
- Choose the answer language, Sanskrit, Hindi or English, before 2 December, because one script takes one language.
- For course books, five hard copies cost 5 × ₹249 + ₹100 = ₹1,345 and five soft copies cost 5 × ₹99 = ₹495.
Year II: Seven Codes, Two of Them MSKE Options
- Read the Year II codes off the Year II re-registration record, not off the prospectus list: the list prints MSK-004, MSK-006, MSK-007, MSK-008, MSK-012, MSKE-009 and MSKE-010.
- Settle the MSKE choice. IGNOU’s programme page describes MSKE-010 as an option paper for learners specialising in Darshan; MSKE-009 is the Veda group paper.
- If the wrong elective arrived, the change window is 30 days from receiving the first course material, at Rs 1,200 for an 8-credit Master’s course.
- Plan by date: MSK-012 opens Year II on 12 December and MSK-008 closes it on 31 December, with MSK-006 and MSK-007 six days apart.
- Order books only for the codes on the registration; a learner with six Year II codes pays for six.
What Should an MSK Learner Do When the Printed Blocks Have Not Come?
Printed MSK blocks that have not come are traced on IGNOU’s study material status page first, then taken up with MPDD at mpdd@ignou.ac.in or 011-29572008, while the same blocks are read free on eGyanKosh. The dispatch status of printed material is checked on the official study material status page linked from ignou.ac.in. The July 2026 prospectus gives one address for it, IGNOU study material status; other status links circulate, including one in the ignou.ac.in footer, and the prospectus address is the one to use.
| Situation | Official route |
|---|---|
| Year I or Year II blocks have not arrived | Status page with the enrolment number, then MPDD at mpdd@ignou.ac.in or 011-29572008 and 29572012 |
| Digital material chosen at admission | No printed set is sent; download from eGyanKosh or the IGNOU e-Content app |
| A block is needed today | The course collection on eGyanKosh, block by block |
| Blocks came for the wrong MSKE elective | Regional Centre, within 30 days of receiving the first material, Rs 1,200 for an 8-credit course |
| A complaint has gone unanswered | IGNOU’s iGRAM grievance portal |
Move the table left to read each official route in full.
Non-receipt of printed study material is taken up with the Registrar, Material Production and Distribution Division (MPDD), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi 110068, at mpdd@ignou.ac.in. IGNOU gives no dispatch period for printed blocks, and this page gives none either. A learner who opts for the soft copy of the self-learning material in the online admission form receives a 15 per cent concession on the programme fee and is not sent printed material. Forum comments from MA Sanskrit learners keep asking the same thing about the second year, when MSK-004, MSK-006, MSK-007 and MSK-008 will reach them; all four collections are already on eGyanKosh, so the reading need not wait for the courier.
eGyanKosh, at egyankosh.ac.in, is IGNOU’s free digital repository of self-learning material. The July 2026 prospectus puts its holdings at the self-learning material of over 3923 courses of 384 programmes, and the IGNOU e-Content app is the university’s official app for the same digitised material. The site explains how eGyanKosh is organised and gives the Gyankosh search walkthrough for finding a course by code. The status page asks for an enrolment number, and finding your enrolment number covers where it is printed; complaints that stall go to the iGRAM grievance portal.
Hindi Medium, a Choice of Exam Language and Two Ways of Writing Each Code
The medium of instruction for MSK is Hindi: it is the only medium section 3.10 of the July 2026 Common Prospectus lists for MA Sanskrit, and the MSK blocks are printed in it. The examination medium is a separate choice. The same section lets the script be written in Sanskrit, Hindi or English, provided one language runs through the whole answer book.
Take a learner who reads MSK-002 in Hindi and is more at ease answering in Sanskrit. The Hindi blocks and a Hindi-medium course book serve the reading; the answer script for 3 December may still be written entirely in Sanskrit, and so may the other four Year I scripts. What cannot happen is a script that switches language halfway. The complete course book is prepared in each medium IGNOU offers for the programme, and your medium is confirmed with your course codes on WhatsApp.
MSK is the programme code for the Master of Arts (Sanskrit) of the School of Humanities; the prospectus writes its courses as MSK-01 or MSK-011, eGyanKosh and the assignment page as MSK-001, and the date sheet as MSK01, while MSKOL is the online-mode variant and PGSKT and PGDBD are two diplomas that borrow the prefix. The complete course book follows the July 2026 course list, which added MSK-011 and MSK-012 to the eight codes the earliest MSK assignment cycles carried.
Two Free Tools for Planning MSK Books and Papers
The first tool turns a year, or any list of MSK codes, into study hours, days to the first paper and book totals; the second resolves one code and gives IGNOU’s route for a stated problem. Neither asks for an enrolment number or keeps anything after the page closes.

₹249 per book hard copy, ₹99 per book soft copy; ₹100 delivery per hard-copy order
Get the Soft Copy on WhatsAppSoft Copy at ₹99 or Hard Copy at ₹249: An MSK Order Worked Out
A soft copy costs ₹99 per MSK book with no delivery charge, and a hard copy costs ₹249 per book with one ₹100 delivery charge on the whole order.
Worked through for MA Sanskrit: a Year I learner ordering MSK-001, MSK-002, MSK-003, MSK-005 and MSK-011 pays 5 × ₹99 = ₹495 for soft copies, or 5 × ₹249 + ₹100 = ₹1,345 for hard copies. The seven codes the prospectus lists for Year II come to ₹693 in soft copy or ₹1,843 in hard copy. A learner repeating a single paper such as MSK-007 pays ₹99, or ₹349 with the book printed and posted. Splitting one order into two hard-copy orders would mean paying the ₹100 twice.
Soft copy, ₹99 per book
Suits a learner who already reads the MSK blocks on eGyanKosh and wants the revision material on the same phone before 2 December. The soft copy is sent on WhatsApp after the order is confirmed.
Hard copy, ₹249 per book
Suits a learner who marks up Sanskrit verses and grammar tables by hand and keeps a printed set for Year II as well. The hard copy is dispatched by courier the next day, and the courier details with the tracking ID are sent to you on WhatsApp. No delivery date is promised on this page.
Assignments, Old Papers and Handwritten Work for MSK Learners
Assignments, previous papers and handwritten work each have their own page on the site. IGNOU’s current MSK booklets are listed on the MSK assignment page on webservices.ignou.ac.in, and the MSK handwritten assignment service handles the written copies. Ready answers sit in the IGNOU solved assignments catalogue, and marks and submission checks in IGNOU assignment status and marks. IGNOU’s own question papers are at IGNOU’s previous question paper archive, while last year’s papers by code, solved question papers for past sessions and solved guess papers by course are revision aids. The general rules for handwritten IGNOU assignments apply to MSK booklets too, and marks convert with the IGNOU percentage calculator or the CGPA calculator.
What Else MSK Learners Ask About, and Where It Is Answered
Project and synopsis questions belong elsewhere, because MA Sanskrit carries no project course in the July 2026 table; learners on other programmes will find IGNOU project reports and synopsis format and proposal guidance on their own pages.
How an MSK Book Order Runs, From Code Check to Tracking ID
Four steps on WhatsApp take an MA Sanskrit order from codes to courier, and nothing is paid until the codes are confirmed.
- Send the MSK codes from the admission or re-registration record, in any spelling, with the format wanted.
- Your course codes are checked free before any payment, so a book that does not match your registration is not sold to you.
- Pay the confirmed total: books × ₹249 + ₹100 for hard copy, or books × ₹99 for soft copy.
- Receive the soft copy on WhatsApp, or the hard copy by courier with its tracking ID, as the comparison above sets out.
Rates for the site’s other services are on the full list of service charges, and the publisher is described on the page about Shri Chakradhar Publication books.
Where the Facts on This MSK Page Come From
Four kinds of source sit behind this page, and they are kept apart. The course list, credits, medium and the Sanskrit, Hindi or English examination rule come from section 3.10 and the summary list of programmes in the July 2026 Common Prospectus, and the MPDD, dispatch and elective rules from sections 14.13 and 14.14 of the same document, available through the July 2026 Common Prospectus download. Collections, block titles and filing codes were read on eGyanKosh on 25 September 2026. Paper dates come from IGNOU’s tentative date sheet dated 21 September 2026, and the eight-code assignment list from IGNOU’s assignment portal; IGNOU’s MSK programme page supplied the option-paper note and its own medium line. MA Sanskrit has no shipped semester books page, so no counted contents are quoted. Prices, formats, the code check and dispatch terms are the publisher’s own commercial terms.
Block counts appear in prose only for courses whose eGyanKosh collections list their blocks in full, and no unit total is given for MSK. Corrections are taken on WhatsApp at +91 93546 37830, and more about the site is on About ignouproject.com.
Questions MSK Learners Ask About Books
IGNOU MSK books come from IGNOU itself: the printed Hindi-medium blocks are posted after admission, and every MSK collection is free to read on eGyanKosh. A learner who chose digital material at admission receives no printed set and reads the same blocks on eGyanKosh or in the IGNOU e-Content app. Separately, a complete course book for each of the twelve MA Sanskrit codes is ordered on WhatsApp at +91 93546 37830.
Yes, IGNOU prints the MA Sanskrit study material in Hindi, the only medium the July 2026 Common Prospectus lists for the MSK programme. The block titles on eGyanKosh are in Hindi as well, and the complete course books for MSK are prepared in Hindi medium to match. The answer script, however, may be written in Sanskrit, Hindi or English, one language only.
IGNOU publishes no delivery period for MSK Year II blocks, so the dispatch status page on ignou.ac.in is the place to check them. If the page shows the Year II blocks as sent and they have not reached you, write to the Registrar, MPDD, at mpdd@ignou.ac.in or call 011-29572008. MSK-004, MSK-006, MSK-007 and MSK-008 are all on eGyanKosh, so reading can begin before the parcel comes.
Yes, IGNOU’s own MSK blocks are free as PDF files on eGyanKosh, the university’s digital repository, one block or unit at a time. Combined “full book” PDFs on other websites are not IGNOU files, and their edition cannot be checked. The complete course book sold here is a paid publication at ₹99 as a soft copy, sent only against a confirmed order.
The July 2026 Common Prospectus lists twelve MA Sanskrit courses, five in Year I and seven in Year II, each worth 8 credits. The prospectus prints no programme credit total for MSK, and IGNOU’s page for the online MSKOL variant states 64 credits. Learners should treat the codes on their own admission and re-registration records as the list that applies to them.
MSK first year needs five books, one for each Year I code: MSK-001, MSK-002, MSK-003, MSK-005 and MSK-011. All five are examined in the December 2026 session between 2 and 10 December, according to IGNOU’s tentative date sheet. As complete course books, the five cost ₹1,345 in hard copy with delivery, or ₹495 as soft copies.
An IGNOU MSK complete course book costs ₹249 as a hard copy or ₹99 as a soft copy, and the price is per course code. A hard-copy order adds one ₹100 delivery charge however many books it holds, so three hard copies cost ₹847. Soft copies carry no delivery charge.
Yes, MSK-01 and MSK-001 are the same MA Sanskrit course; the prospectus writes the short form and eGyanKosh writes the long one. The December 2026 date sheet prints a third form, MSK01, without a hyphen. The same holds for MSK-011 and MSK-012, and for the electives MSKE-009 and MSKE-010.
No, MSK-021 and MSK-031 belong to two separate postgraduate diplomas that share the MSK prefix, not to the MA Sanskrit programme. MSK-021 to MSK-025 make up PGSKT, the PG Diploma in Science in Sanskrit Literature, and MSK-031 to MSK-035 make up PGDBD, the PG Diploma in Indian Philosophy. A help book printed with those codes does not cover an MA Sanskrit paper.
Yes, the July 2026 prospectus lets MSK learners write the examination in Sanskrit, Hindi or English, provided the whole script is in one language. The study material itself is printed in Hindi. A learner who plans to answer in English still reads the Hindi blocks and should decide the answer language before the first paper, since it cannot change mid-script.
MSKE-009 covers the Vedic Samhitas and Vedic grammar, while MSKE-010 covers the Brahmasutra, Yogasutra and Nyayasutra. IGNOU’s programme page describes MSKE-010 as an option paper for learners specialising in Darshan. Only the MSKE code on your own registration needs a book, and IGNOU allows a change of elective within 30 days of receiving the first course material.
The MSK papers in December 2026 run from MSK-001 on Wednesday 2 December to MSK-008 on Thursday 31 December, per IGNOU’s tentative date sheet. That schedule is dated 21 September 2026 and marked tentative, so the date on the hall ticket governs. Year I papers fall on 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 December.
No, a help book is not enough on its own, because the MSK blocks from IGNOU are the syllabus and the examination is set on them. A complete course book gathers one course’s chapters, recent solved papers and important answers for revision beside the blocks. It shortens revision; it does not replace the reading.
Each MSK complete course book holds one course’s chapters, the latest previous years’ solved papers and the important questions and answers. Each book covers one code only, so a learner repeating MSK-007 buys that single book. The book is prepared in Hindi medium, the medium IGNOU offers for MSK.
The MSK hard copy is dispatched by courier the day after the order is confirmed, and the tracking ID is sent on WhatsApp. No delivery date is promised. The ₹100 delivery charge is fixed for the whole hard-copy order, and a soft copy is sent on WhatsApp instead of by courier.
No single MSK help book suits every learner, so the useful question is what to check before buying one from any publisher. Check that the codes printed on it are MA Sanskrit codes and not PGSKT or PGDBD ones, that the medium is Hindi, that the edition follows the July 2026 course list, and that the titles use IGNOU’s wording. A book that promises marks or names the questions to be set is promising what no publisher can know.
IGNOU’s assignment page for July 2025 and January 2026 lists eight MSK codes, while the prospectus and the December 2026 date sheet carry all twelve. The eight are MSK-001, MSK-002, MSK-003, MSK-005, MSK-011, MSK-012, MSKE-009 and MSKE-010; MSK-004, MSK-006, MSK-007 and MSK-008 appeared on the July 2024 list. Learners should download the current booklet for each code they are registered in, and ask the Regional Centre where one is missing.
