How Long Until the First December 2026 MBA Paper

Sixty-eight days separate 18 September 2026 from the first scheduled paper, and the MBA papers fall somewhere across the weeks after it. IGNOU calls the schedule tentative, so the date printed on your IGNOU hall ticket for December 2026 is the one to trust. The course-by-course December 2026 schedule shows where each MMPC code sits.

What One MBA Semester Asks of You in Reading Hours

A first-semester MBA learner carries 840 hours of prospectus study time: seven 4-credit courses at 30 hours per credit. IGNOU’s Common Prospectus for July 2026 counts one credit as 30 hours of learner study, so a 4-credit course carries 120 hours and a 6-credit course 180 hours. Across the whole programme, 116 credits come to 3,480 hours.

Before the arithmetic, most learners picture a semester as seven books to read. After it, the picture is 120 hours per course, spread across blocks of uneven length.

MMPC-004 Accounting for Managers runs to 5 blocks and 16 units on eGyanKosh, read on 18 September 2026, although it carries only 4 credits. IGNOU issues printed study material either as a single book of blocks and units or as separate blocks for every course, on an average one block per credit, and a block usually comprises 3 to 5 units. Five blocks on 4 credits breaks that average, and the course’s 120 hours work out to 7.5 hours per unit. The HM elective MMPH-001 Organisational Theory and Design also runs to five blocks on 4 credits in its September 2022 print.

That gap between the plan and the hours is where a course book helps, because it puts one course’s chapters, recent solved papers and important answers in one place; the blocks still come first.

Official Blocks, a Course Book or an eGyanKosh PDF: Which Should an MBA Learner Use?

Use IGNOU’s official blocks first, because the term-end paper is set from them and nothing else. Official study material, also called self-learning material or SLM, is IGNOU’s own course content: blocks that usually hold 3 to 5 units each, printed and posted unless digital was chosen at admission, and free to everyone on eGyanKosh. A help book, sometimes called a guide book, is an independent publisher’s revision book that condenses a course for the term-end examination; it is not an IGNOU publication, and the complete course book described here is one. The only free PDF worth trusting is IGNOU’s own, downloaded from egyankosh.ac.in or opened in the IGNOU e-Content app.

Anyone searching for an IGNOU MBA books pdf free download should go straight to IGNOU’s files, which the step-by-step guide to downloading official IGNOU books walks through, and to the MBA-New community on eGyanKosh. Official study material is linked here only at egyankosh.ac.in, and this page does not host or redistribute IGNOU’s files. Mirror sites and combined-PDF uploads carry no edition date, so a learner cannot tell an MMPC block from an older MS one.

Before buying revision material from any publisher, check five things: the codes match your admission record, the edition year is printed, the medium is yours, the book follows the MMPC set rather than MS, and it promises no marks. Every MBA Core Code, Its Hours and Its Course Book

Twenty MMPC codes form the MBA core, and each has its own complete course book in English or Hindi; MMPP-001, the project, has none. The table gives each code’s official title, semester, credits, study hours at 30 per credit, a link to its official material on eGyanKosh, and the course book’s medium.

Titles follow the July 2026 Common Prospectus, which prints the MMPC courses in its MBACN, MBALS and postgraduate diploma tables; MMPC-017’s title is the one on IGNOU’s own assignment and question papers. Each code also has a site page with papers and help, for example the MMPC-001 course page, the MMPC-002 Human Resource Management page, the MMPC-004 Accounting for Managers page and the MMPC-006 Marketing Management page; admission and fees sit on the IGNOU MBA programme page.

Which MBA Books Each Semester and Stream Needs

Semesters 1 and 2 are the same for every MBA learner, and the book list splits by stream from Semester 3. The flagship MBA lets a learner choose the specialisation later; MBAHM, MBAFM, MBAMM and MBAOM fix it at admission, and the prospectus does not allow a change of specialisation in those four. Three code families circulate: MBA with MMPC course codes is the current programme, MS codes belong to the older MBA, and MBAOL is the online-mode MBA.

Semester 1: MMPC-001 to MMPC-007

Seven course books, one per code, for 28 credits and 840 hours. The complete course book covers one course code with its chapters, the latest previous years’ solved papers and the important questions and answers; the semester-wise Last Minute Exam Guide covers a whole semester at ₹249 with the important questions and answers only. Semester 2: MMPC-008 to MMPC-014

Semester 3: MMPC-015, MMPC-016 and the Stream Electives

Every stream registers MMPC-015, MMPC-016 and MMPP-001; eGyanKosh keeps an MMPP-001 Project collection inside the MBAHRM Semester III community, and IGNOU provides no additional study material for the project. Each stream table below lists its Semester 3 and Semester 4 electives together. HM, FM, MM and OM each have a semester-wide guide as well: the HR stream Semester 3 guide, the finance stream Semester 3 guide, the marketing stream Semester 3 guide and the operations stream Semester 3 guide.

Semester 4: MMPC-017 to MMPC-020 and the Rest of Each Stream

Semester 4 holds the last core codes and the remaining stream electives. eGyanKosh’s MBAOM Semester IV community lists MMPC-018, MMPC-019, MMPC-020, MMPO-003, MMPO-004 and MMPO-008, which is six books for an operations learner. For HM and FM, the HR stream Semester 4 guide and the finance stream Semester 4 guide cover the semester in one volume each. Where the prospectus prints a marketing or HR elective without a semester, the table shows “3 or 4”, and your registration decides.

How to Receive, Track and Replace Official IGNOU MBA Books

IGNOU posts the printed MBA blocks to the address on the admission form, and a missing parcel is chased in four steps. The office behind the parcel is MPDD, IGNOU’s Material Production and Distribution Division, which prints and posts every block.

1. Check the status. The dispatch status of printed material is checked on the official study material status page linked from ignou.ac.in. The address the prospectus prints is the IGNOU study material status page; other addresses that circulate online are not in the prospectus.
2. Start reading online. eGyanKosh, at egyankosh.ac.in, is IGNOU’s free digital repository of self-learning material. It holds the self-learning material of over 3,923 courses from 384 programmes, per section 1.20 of the July 2026 prospectus, and the IGNOU e-Content app carries the same files. 3. Write to MPDD. Non-receipt of printed study material is taken up with the Registrar, Material Production and Distribution Division (MPDD), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi 110068, at mpdd@ignou.ac.in. Quote your enrolment number. The prospectus, in section 14.13, says the University shall not be held responsible for material a learner does not receive.
4. Escalate if needed. Raise the case on the iGRAM grievance portal and keep the complaint number.

A learner who opts for the soft copy of the self-learning material in the online admission form receives a 15 per cent concession on the programme fee and is not sent printed material. Project manuals, workbooks and similar material that IGNOU does not print sit only on eGyanKosh under the same section. Wrong electives can be corrected inside a 30-day window that opens when the first material arrives; a Master’s learner pays Rs 600 per 2 or 4 credit course and Rs 1,200 per 6 or 8 credit course, per section 14.14.

MBA Course Books in English and Hindi, and the Old Code Sets

The MBA and its four specialised programmes are offered in English and Hindi medium, according to the Medium column of the July 2026 prospectus’s list of programmes; MBF, the banking and finance MBA, is English only. The complete course book is prepared in each medium IGNOU offers for the programme, and your medium is confirmed with your course codes on WhatsApp.

A code generation is a full set of course codes IGNOU uses for one version of a programme. For example, MMPF-007 Equity Markets is examined in the current MBA, while IGNOU still issues an assignment for MFP-1 Equity Markets for the January and July 2025 sessions under the Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Markets Practice; two live codes carry one title.
