When BFSW Assignments Are Due: 30 September, 31 March, and a Reported 31 October Extension
July 2026 learners have until 31 March 2027. January 2026 learners were printed 30 September 2026, which has passed, and press reports say IGNOU moved the December 2026 deadline to 31 October 2026.

31 March 2027 is the last date IGNOU prints for BFSW learners admitted in the July 2026 session, on the 2026-27 English booklets for BSW-121, BSW-123, BSW-124, BSW-125 and BSW-131 issued by the School of Social Work. The same booklets give January 2026 learners 30 September 2026, and both dates are for submission at the Study Centre. Earlier BFSW files follow the identical pairing: the January 2024 file printed 30 September 2024 and 31 March 2025, and the 2025-26 file printed 30 September 2025 and 31 March 2026. A July 2026 BFSW learner therefore plans every pending BSW paper against 31 March 2027 and checks ignou.ac.in for any later notice.
For BFSW learners admitted in January 2026, the printed 30 September 2026 cut-off has already passed, and a reported extension to 31 October 2026 is the only route left for the December 2026 term-end examination. Careerindia reported on 2 October 2026 that IGNOU had extended assignment submission for the December 2026 exam to 31 October 2026, covering distance and online learners, and a second education site repeated it on 19 October 2026. Neither report cites a notice number, neither says whether programmes with a printed 30 September date are included, and no such notice was found on ignou.ac.in while this page was prepared. A January 2026 BFSW learner with BSW papers still pending should ask the Study Centre this week, in writing, whether it will accept them up to 31 October 2026.
The 31 October and 30 April pair printed on MBA booklets, and on several School of Social Sciences booklets for the BA Majors, does not apply here. No BFSW booklet read for this page uses it, and a BFSW learner who plans to 30 April loses a month.

Thirty Marks Out of Every Hundred, Earned in Five Long Answers
Assignments carry 30 per cent of the final course result and the term-end examination carries the remaining 70 per cent.
The BSW booklets describe the assignment as open-book work and as preparation for the term-end paper. So the answers you write in September or March are also your revision notes for December or June.
Every BSW assignment booklet issued for the BFSW Major prints eight questions and asks for any five, in about 500 words each, with all questions carrying equal marks of 20 and the paper totalling 100. That pattern appears on the 2026-27 booklets for BSW-121, BSW-123, BSW-124, BSW-125 and BSW-131, on the 2025-26 BFSW file and on the January 2024 BFSW file. Unlike the BA Major papers of the School of Social Sciences, there are no 10-mark or 6-mark short answers. A BFSW learner should therefore budget five full essays per course, each opening with an introduction and closing with a conclusion, as the booklet instructs.
Five answers at 500 words is about 2,500 words per course. Across the five theory papers that is 12,500 words of fair copy for the Major alone, before Environmental Studies, the minors and the other pool courses.
Solved Assignment or Handwritten Assignment for BFSW: Only One Reaches the Evaluator
The Study Centre receives ink-written, signed pages. A downloaded solved file is study material.
A solved assignment is a soft-copy reference file of model answers for one IGNOU course code and one session, for example BSW-125 Social Case Work and Social Group Work for the 2026-27 cycle. A BFSW learner reads one to see how a 500-word answer on the stages of group formation might be organised. The 2026-27 BSW-131 booklet states that “Assignments are to be handwritten and duly signed before their submission”, and section 14.7 of the July 2026 Common Prospectus allows typed assignments only for students holding a valid disability certificate. A printed solved file is therefore not something a BFSW learner can hand in.
A handwritten assignment is the five chosen BSW answers written by hand on A4 sheets, one course code per bundle, each answer starting on a new page, with the cover completed and signed by the learner and the set handed to the Study Centre. The 2026-27 BSW booklets add that answers should be in the learner’s own words, based on IGNOU’s course material, with one line left between paragraphs. That bundle is the only form in which the 30 per cent is earned.

What Changes When the Paper Is BFSW, in Twelve Lines
Theory codes only. BSW-121, 123, 124, 125 and 131 are written. A BSWL practicum code on an order comes back to you with a note, because no booklet exists for it.
Five answered, three left. Each booklet prints eight questions; the set answers five, at about 500 words, as the instruction asks.
Your five agreed first. Which five of the eight get answered is settled with you in the first reply, before any page is written.
A fresh page per answer. The booklet asks for it, so every answer opens at the top of a new sheet.
Subtitles inside the body. Introduction, a body broken by subtitles, then a conclusion, the shape SOSW sets for long answers.
One blank line between paragraphs. A small rule, printed on every BSW booklet, and easy to miss.
No invented TMA string. BSW booklets print only the course code and the assignment year, and the cover carries exactly those.
BSWG on the cover is fine. The 2026-27 BSW files serve BFSW and BSWG together; your set names BFSW.
BSW-122 and 126 questioned. Both are three-year BSWG papers, absent from the BFSW Major table, so they are checked against your record.
Course material as the base. The booklets ask for answers drawn from IGNOU’s own blocks, and the writing follows them.
Pool courses at the same rate. BEVAE-181, the interdisciplinary course, the skill course and the minors are written from their own booklets.
Signature space kept empty. You sign the cover after reading the five answers yourself.

The BFSW Major in section 5.17 of the July 2026 Common Prospectus holds ten courses worth 80 credits over six semesters: five BSW theory courses of 6 credits each (30 credits) and five BSWL practicum courses of 10 credits each (50 credits). The remaining 40 credits of the 120-credit Major degree come from four minors (16), two ability enhancement courses (8), one interdisciplinary course (6), one value-added course (6) and one skill enhancement course (4). Each semester in the BFSW template totals 20 credits, six semesters give 120, and a fourth year raises the Honours degree to 160. The table was used only after both sums held. For a BFSW learner, that means 70 of the 120 credits come with an assignment booklet and 50 do not.

The prospectus lists BSW-121 and BSWL-104 together under the 1st and 2nd Semester; its template places BSWL-104 in Semester 2. Swipe the table to see the last column.
The five BFSW practicum codes in the July 2026 Common Prospectus run out of semester order: BSWL-104 (Practicum IV) sits in Semester 2, BSWL-106 (VI) in Semester 3, BSWL-107 (VII) in Semester 4, BSWL-105 (V) in Semester 5 and BSWL-109 (IX) in Semester 6, and BSWL-108 is missing. The numbering comes from the older three-year BSWG programme, where IGNOU’s BSWGOL programme document lists BSWL-104 to BSWL-109 in order across Semesters I to VI. BFSW kept the BSWG codes and moved them to new semesters. A BFSW learner should therefore read a practicum by its code, never by its Roman numeral, and should not expect a Practicum I, II or III; some third-party pages relabel BSWL-104 as Practicum I, which matches no IGNOU document read here.
The rest of the 120 credits comes from the BA common pool, on pages 164 to 167 of the prospectus. The BFSW template spaces them out like this, and each of these courses issues its own assignment booklet.

A learner who leaves after the first or second year also completes one extra 4-credit vocational course for the UG Certificate or UG Diploma. That course has a booklet too.

The BFSW assignment booklets print no separate TMA code: each one shows only a course code, such as Course Code: BSW 131, and an assignment year, such as Assignment: 2026-27. That holds for all five 2026-27 BSW booklets read for this page and for the 2025-26 and January 2024 BFSW files. A BFSW learner therefore writes the course code and the assignment year on the cover exactly as the booklet prints them, and does not build a string such as BSW-131/TMA/2026-27, which no BFSW document uses. One trap sits on the 2026-27 cover itself: the January 2026 session is labelled Assignment: 2026-27 under BFSW and Assignment: 2025-26 under BSWG, so a BFSW learner copies the BFSW line.
Ten Points Where the BFSW Papers Do Not Agree, This Website Included
- Practicum numbers out of order. The prospectus places Practicum IV, VI, VII, V and IX in Semesters 2 to 6 and omits Practicum VIII, because the codes were carried over from BSWG.
- Theory codes out of order. BFSW runs BSW-121, 125, 124, 123 and then 131 across Semesters 1 to 6, so code number tells you nothing about the year.
- Template against pool rules. The BFSW template holds one skill enhancement course and four minors; the BA rules it points to call for four skill courses and six minors. The BFSW template is the one that sums to 120.
- One session, two year labels. On the 2026-27 BSW covers, the January 2026 session is Assignment: 2026-27 for BFSW and Assignment: 2025-26 for BSWG.
- A past date and an unconfirmed extension. January 2026 learners were printed 30 September 2026; the reported extension to 31 October 2026 appears only in press reports so far.
- Two names for the online version. The prospectus list of online programmes calls it BSWOL; IGNOU’s Samarth programme document is headed BSWGOL, a three-year, 132-credit structure.
- Credits that do not match. The BSWGOL document gives BSW-123 and BSW-125 10 credits each, against 6 in the prospectus, and leaves two practicum credit cells blank.
- Fourth-year codes without titles. BSW-127 to 130 appear in the BFSW Honours template with no titles, and the prospectus says fourth-year details will be provided subsequently.
- On this website: the BFSW project page. The project guidelines page on this site calls project work required for the programme and gives BSWE-007 as the course code. The July 2026 prospectus places a 12-credit project only in Semester 8 of the Honours year, as an alternative to BSW-127 and BSW-130, and no BSWE code appears in the BFSW table. The page is being corrected.
- On this website: other pages awaiting correction. The BAFSO page, prepared on 4 October 2026, reported no assignment-date extension for this cycle, although a press report of 2 October 2026 described one. The home page’s acceptance assurance with a refund and the dispatch promise on the MMPC-001 page are also queued for correction; this page makes neither promise.

Five Stages Between Sending Your BSW Codes and Signing the Bundle
You are needed at the first stage and the last. The middle three happen at this end.
- Theory and practicum are separated. Every code you send is matched against the BFSW table. BSWL codes, BSWG-only papers and fourth-year codes are pointed out before any payment.
- The session fixes the file. A July 2026 learner’s BSW-121 is written from the 2026-27 booklet dated 31 March 2027. A backlog learner’s paper follows the session printed on the current slip.
- Five questions are chosen with you. The first reply lists the eight questions and proposes five. You can swap any of them.
- The fair copy goes onto A4 in your matched hand. Blue or black ink, one answer per fresh page, subtitles in the body, and the cover page laid out the way IGNOU expects with the course code and assignment year copied from the booklet. Your enrolment number in IGNOU’s format goes at the top.
- The bundle is couriered and you complete it. You read all five answers, sign the cover, and follow the steps for submitting at your Study Centre. Ask for a receipt.
Your Handwriting on Case-Work and Counselling Answers
Send a photo of a page you have written yourself and the handwritten set is matched to your handwriting at no extra charge.
Social work answers carry names, dates and lists: Maslow, Gandhi, the Charity Organisation Society, the stages of group formation. A sample page that includes capital letters, numerals and a short list shows the writer how you form them, which a page of plain running text does not. If your paper is in Hindi, send a Devanagari page; matras and the top line vary from writer to writer far more than English letters.

Search the official page by course code. The 2026-27 files are filed course by course, not under one BFSW programme file.
- Open the IGNOU search. Go to the assignment download page on ignou.ac.in and type a code such as BSW 125.
- Choose the right year file. The 2026-27 English files are named simply, as in BSW-125-English. A name with 2025-2026 in brackets is the previous cycle, and a name ending in BSWG, such as BSW-126-English-BSWG, belongs to the three-year programme only.
- Find your line on the cover. The cover shows a BFSW block and a BSWG block, each with its own assignment year and two dates. Read the BFSW block.
- Check the instruction before the questions. It should ask for any five of eight answers in about 500 words. Anything else means a different course or a different school’s file.
If a booklet is missing close to the cut-off, raise it with IGNOU through the iGRAM grievance route and attach a screenshot of the empty search. The course blocks are free on the IGNOU books download page, on eGyanKosh for BSW blocks, and on the Gyankosh alternative when the first is slow.
Proving a BSW Paper Reached IGNOU, and Finding Its Marks
Take a receipt at the counter, then watch the status, then the marks. Keep a photocopy of every BSW set until its marks appear.
Status entries lag behind submission by several weeks. Silence for a whole exam cycle is the point at which the receipt matters.
To see whether a BSW code has been received, use the assignment submission status check; for what a marks entry means there is a separate note. The 30 per cent shows in the assignment marks column. Bachelor’s learners open the grade card for bachelor’s programmes, with an explanation of how the BDP grade card reads, and follow the grade card status updates until the final grade card for the degree shows every code. Percentages come from the percentage calculator and the CGPA converter.
Term-End Preparation, Practicum Records and the Next Degree
The 70 per cent still needs an examination. IGNOU publishes past BSW-121 papers, including June 2026, and the December 2026 exam date sheet sets each BSW paper’s day. For practice there are guess papers for the coming exam, solved previous papers and last year’s question papers; for revision, condensed study notes, course-wise help books and guide books ordered online.

Medium, session and the names around BFSW
BFSW is taught in English and Hindi, according to section 5.17 of the July 2026 Common Prospectus, but every BFSW assignment booklet located for this page is in English. No Hindi BSW booklet for 2025-26 or 2026-27 appeared on ignou.ac.in during this research, which does not prove that none exists. A Hindi-medium BFSW learner should ask the Study Centre for the Hindi paper and, if none has been issued, which file and which date it will accept.

A learner coming back after a gap usually completes re-registration for the next year first, or readmission once the enrolment has lapsed, and then writes the booklet for the session on the new slip.
On names: BFSW is the code of the four-year Bachelor of Social Work (Major/Honours); BSW is the course prefix on its theory papers and BSWL the prefix on its practicum courses; BSWG is the older three-year Bachelor of Social Work that shares the same booklets; and BSWOL and BSWGOL are the two names IGNOU documents give the online version.

- Receive a total and a courier answer. The reply multiplies ₹320 by your theory and pool codes and says whether courier reaches your pin code. There is no minimum order: one subject or fourteen, same rate.
- Pay, then receive the bundle. The set is couriered to your address. Reading it, signing it and handing it in remain yours.

- Your admission session, January or July, and its year.

What could not be settled. No Hindi BSW booklet was located, so the Hindi dates are unconfirmed. No BSWL practicum assignment file was located, and the BFSW Programme Guide, which sets out how practicum is assessed, was not opened. The 31 October 2026 extension was not found on ignou.ac.in. The 2026-27 booklet for January 2027 learners has not been published, so the counter’s 30 September 2027 date is the printed pattern, not a printed date. No booklet read shows a cover-page field layout, and fourth-year course details are, in the prospectus’s words, to be provided subsequently.

Which BFSW courses need an assignment?
Five Major theory courses: BSW-121, BSW-125, BSW-124, BSW-123 and BSW-131, one in each semester from 1 to 6 except Semester 2. The pool courses on your record, such as BEVAE-181, the interdisciplinary course, the skill course and the minors, need their own assignments as well.
Do the BSWL practicum courses have an assignment to write?
No BSWL assignment booklet was located on ignou.ac.in. BSWL-104, 105, 106, 107 and 109 are 10-credit practicum courses done as supervised field work, so follow your practicum supervisor and the Programme Guide for what to submit. This service writes theory assignments only.
Can an IGNOU BFSW assignment be typed or printed?
No, not for most learners. The BSW booklets ask for handwritten, signed assignments, and section 14.7 of the July 2026 Common Prospectus allows typed work only for students with a valid disability certificate.
Is a BFSW solved assignment the same as a handwritten assignment?
No. A solved assignment is a soft-copy reference file of model answers; a handwritten assignment is your five chosen BSW answers in ink, signed and handed in at the Study Centre. Only the handwritten set is accepted for the 30 per cent.
Can I submit a printout of a BSW solved PDF?
No. A printout is typed work without your handwriting or signature, which the BSW booklet rule does not allow outside the disability provision. Read the file if it helps, then write the answers by hand.
How many questions are answered in a BSW assignment, and how long is each answer?
Five of the eight printed questions, about 500 words each. All carry 20 marks, so the paper totals 100, and each answer should start on a new page with an introduction, a subtitled body and a conclusion.
What assignment code goes on a BFSW cover page?
Only the course code and the assignment year, such as BSW 131 and 2026-27, because the BFSW booklets print no separate TMA code. Copy the year from the BFSW line of the cover, not the BSWG line.
My BSW booklet also says BSWG. Is it still the right file for BFSW?
Yes, for BSW-121, 123, 124, 125 and 131, because the 2026-27 booklets serve BFSW and BSWG together and print a separate line for each. A file labelled BSWG alone, such as BSW-126, is not part of the three-year BFSW Major.
Is the BFSW assignment available in Hindi?
BFSW is offered in Hindi, but no Hindi BSW booklet was located for 2025-26 or 2026-27. Ask your Study Centre for the Hindi paper; a Hindi set is written at the same ₹320 once the paper is in hand.
How much does an IGNOU BFSW handwritten assignment cost?
₹320 for each subject, and the courier cost is already inside that figure. A first-year set of six papers costs ₹1,920, and all five BSW theory papers cost ₹1,600, at the same rate for any medium or session.
How long does delivery of a BFSW set take?
No fixed figure is quoted, because courier time varies with the pin code. Your address gets its own estimate before payment, and with a 31 October 2026 cut-off reported, put that date in your first message.
Can an older-session or backlog BSW paper be ordered?
Yes. Any session is written at ₹320 per subject; name the session on your current slip, because the eight questions change with every booklet.
My Regional Centre asks for a scanned upload. What then?
Make the scan yourself from the delivered hard copy, after signing it, and upload it the way the centre asks. No soft copy or PDF is sold.
How do I check whether a submitted BSW assignment was received?
Use IGNOU’s assignment status service. Enter your enrolment number a few weeks after submission, and keep the Study Centre receipt and a photocopy in case the entry is slow to appear.
Will the handwritten BFSW set look like my writing?
It is written to match the sample photo you send, at no extra charge. A page that includes capital letters, numbers and a short list, or Devanagari for a Hindi set, gives the closest match.
Before paying any handwritten-assignment provider, what should a BFSW learner check?
Five points apply to every provider, this one included. The answers must come from the BSW booklet for your own code and session; the per-subject price and postage must be stated up front; nobody should promise marks, approval or acceptance; nobody can promise a delivery date before knowing your pin code; and the cover declaration must be left for your own signature.
